"Ordered an external hard drive at buy.com because it was really cheap (with a $20 mail in rebate). BUT THEY DO NOT PACKAGE CORRECTLY, MY HARD DRIVE WAS SHIPPED IN A SIMPLE CARDBOX WITH NO PADDING. of course, after an 8 day long ground shipping across the country, when the hard drive arrived it was not working. I had to ship it back (took another week) and wait for them to process it. Since the item was then out of stock and the mail in rebate no more available (no more cheap) I asked a refund (still waiting for it on 06/15). I wouldn't buy anything fragile from them, even if it was much cheaper, it will still be too expensive for something that will arrive broken because they cant pack correctly."

"I don't know why buy.com gets such a bad rap. I've ordered from them a number of times and have had no trouble. Their prices are great, shipping is reasonable, and I always receive speedy service. This order was no exception!"

"I have made countless orders from Buy.com over the past few years with no issues -- until now. I have spent the past week going back and forth with customer service via email. Each time just getting a canned response that does not address my concerns. The latest email listed a few issues and asked them to be addressed individually and to not just be sent another one line response. What did I receive?

We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with this order. We will try to improve our products and services while making future decision.

Buy.com has gone from my first choice to basically my last choice because of this one order.

"Bought a 2GB connect 3D SD card on Jan/30/2007 with a $50 rebate. still waiting for rebate as of today June 9th. These people are fraudsters and so are connect 3D. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM, LOOK HOW THERE RATINGS HAVE DROPPED ! They dont care at all about customers!"

"I have been trying to cancel my order with Buy.com since June 8th. They've refused to do so even though they admitted that they don't have the item in stock.

I ordered the item on June 5, on the website it stated that it's ships in "1-2 business days".

Buy.com used to be very good and I have a feeling that they've been either sold or are in financial trouble because their behavior has become quite shady.

"Showed as "in stock" when ordered. Status went to "sent to warehouse", but later received an email about the item being backordered. Still shows as "in stock" on their website even after 24 hours. They told me in the email they update their inventory every 24 hours online, and apparently they don't. Update: After cancelling the order, because they could not tell me when the item would be availalbe again, I kept checking their site and it was always listed as in stock. I called and inquired the following monday and was informed that they have over 600 units availabe? However they refused to honor the price that they advertised when I attempted to order it the first time. They also sent me a 7% off coupon via email, and when I inquired about that they told me it expired in may, but the link in the email said it expired 6/30/07. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

"The memory chips I ordered never arrived. I requested that my account be creditted for the merchandise after over 30 days. I was told I could send them back when they arrive. I still have no credit nor the memory chips I ordered.

I will never order from Buy.com again.

In another instance they sent we a SD card that was not on rebate when the one I ordered was. They refused to refund the shipping but accepted the return.

"I ordered a USB drive on May 28 at buy.com. really low price after rebate, and it said "will ship in 1-2 business days". After I placed my order it was "sent to warehouse" but the order has yet to be fulfilled as of June 8th. Towards the beginning of June, the item was listed as "Backordered, will ship in 2-3 business days", but mine never shipped. Looking in forums I saw that people that had ordered at the beginning of June have already recieved their drives!!! This is rediculous to hold off my shipment this long. Any longer and it will most certainly void the rebate. I've sent them 2 emails about this issue, and both have been an automated response. Terrible company with terrible customer service. If you are lucky enough to get your order, congratulations. For the rest of us, its just another disappointment. "

"Ordered a phone May 10. They shipped the wrong phone. I returned it the same day I received it, but had to wait for the ground shipment to go from East Coast US to West Coast before they would even begin processing the replacement order. The replacement phone was listed as finally shipping June 4. But after three days, all the tracking shows is "billing information received". No shipment, no phone. This company is a disaster."

"I purchased a Crucial Ballistix memory kit from them on Thursday, 5/31. On Monday, 6/4 I had not yet received the item and the price dropped by $15.00. I was told that they have a 3 day price protection policy. They suggested that I re-purchase the item and refuse delivery of the first purchase. I can undertand them not honoring other merchant's prices, but this is their own price change. I was told told that a supervisor would call me back. More than 24 hours later I am still waiting. E-mails to them bring canned replied. They may have low prices, but their customer service is severely lacking."

"Crappy Service! 1 hour on the phone and still "Please wait for next available agent". Had ordered a refrigerator on confirmation that it will be delivered inside the house. Got a call from the shpping company to schedule the delivery appointment and I learn that it's a curbside delivery. I escalated it with the shipping company who escalated it to distributor. Turns out that some other company is filling in the order for buy.com. Well, this is fine too...many retailers probably drop-ship their orders. But the distributor wouldn't release a inhouse delivery schedule unless buy.com clears it! Eventually I did manage to get in touch with buy.com email response team and got a canned respone which was a lot of words (read crap!) which meant nothing more than "We can't help you!!"....I have every intention of not taking a curbside delivery and following up with BBB and a credit card dispute on grounds of non-delivery of item. Anyways, they still have a chance to amend! Hope they don't lose it for mine and their sake!!"
