"I did not realize that this store has such low ratings. When I ordered an item, the store was not able to ship it according to its promise and was not able to confirm a shipment till I actually received the item. Did buy a refurbished product which did not function properly. So I contacted them and asked for a replacement. The store kept sending the auto-replies, and when finally someone replied I was refussed a return because the 14 day period expired. So, I ended up with a non-functional unit and a huge financial loss. Oh well, one must read the reseller ratings before buying anything. Now I know..."
"I will absolutely never ever buy from this company again! I ordered a $700 canoe, which was delivered to my house BADLY damaged. When I called them to arrange for them to pick it back up and refund my money, they told me they would call back in 2-3 days. Let's just say I finally got my money back after a month and a half and that is only because I called literally everyday starting at about the 4th week and bugged them, I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General's office in California. If you call customer service, you get people in India who can't help you at all....but I found the magic number to corporate headquarters in California. Call them if you are frustrated...they were the ones who finally decided to take care of my problem. Don't let them transfer you back over to India though. "I along with many have similar complaints about buy.com. Here is a quick list of issue I've had:
1. Trying to contact there customer support through e-mail is painstakingly slow and usually responds like a pre-recorded message that you would get from an answering machine. It is almost impossible to get their phone number (its not listed anywhere on their website), unless you beg for it.
2. Once you go through check out, you are bombarded by this scam that entices you to sign up for a $25.00 dollar rebate (I never received mine), yet the fine print says you will be billed $9.99 for some website rebate company for coupons.
If it weren’t for these two main issues (there are others, but nothing worth mentioning), buy.com would be a great online company to buy from. Well, I could add one more complaint..... I am noticing the increase in mail-in rebate offers, which I cannot stand. Mainly, because most rebates can take longer than expected and sometimes requires a follow up call. So, If they would improve these three major problems I'd come back to them. Maybe?"
"I've had two great experiences purchasing smaller items with buy.com over a year ago, so I ordered a laptop computer from them last week for myself. It was delivered to an address in Texas, even though I live in Los Angeles and have never lived anywhere close to Azle, Texas. UPS said there's nothing they could do about it except return the item to the warehouse and wait for the vendor to contact them. After emailing buy.com repeatedly to *beg* for the customer service number, I googled "customer service buy.com" and found the ***-***-**** number, which leads you to India. The gentleman suggested I wait another day, even after I told him the package was delivered to Texas and UPS was not going to redeliver it. He kept saying, "Wait one more business day." I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold so long I had to hang up. I found the 9499 389 2000 number where I spoke to someone who said all he could do was file a claim and did I want a refund or replacement? I somehow felt that the situation was not going to end well, so I asked for a refund. He said fine but was not able to give me any sort of confirmation number or verification other than his word. I will not buy anything form this company ever again, no matter how low the price. "
"Honestly, I don't know why the ratings are so low. Buy.com's website is great, their inventory massive, their prices low, their order process efficient, and at least in my experience, the service great. Recently I bought a Western Digital 320GB external hard drive. Ordered on Monday, arrived on Wednesday with free shipping. Brand new and packaged well. They do ask at checkout if you want to upgrade to faster shipping for a few dollars more, but orders are shipped out fast no matter how you order. I think that Buy.com is one of the more elite vendors on the Internet. Easy to order, and they offer their own reviews of each product written by customers, which can be very helpful. I think they are great."

"Ordered two 1 GB SD cards from Buy.com. They sent me two packages of DVD-Rs. I sent them back, asked for them to send the correct items. They said ok, and proceeded to send two more packages of DVD-Rs. Called their "customer service" who stated that they didn't even carry the particular SD card I ordered. They claimed that I should have searched on the SKU number to confirm that *I* ordered the right item. I spent a month, several hours, and two trips to the UPS store to try to fix *their* error, and all they offered me was a $5 coupon for a future purchase. Why would I want to order from them again?"
"Buy.com was very quick with the shipping and had the best price I could find online, as well as a cupon that gave me $15 off my order. Although the price went down less than 24 hours after I ordered and they wouldn't return the diference (as their policy says) because of conflicting terms, I am still very happy with my order.
About the "lack of phone number" I too found that weird, and although cnet.com says that there is a number, I couldn't find it. After E-mailing buy.com and requesting a phone number I was given a Tech Support number (not that helpful for my problem, but open 24/7). The number is 1-***-***-**** (toll free)."

However, as pouyafatemi stated below me, they do not have a phone number, and I find that highly suspicious. It does make correcting orders very difficult. I would advise staying away from large and/or expensive orders from the company."
"The worst customer service experience of my life. Actually, they have NO customer service. They have NO phone number listed on the website. The only way you can reach them is through email. The emails are most probably automatically generated, as almost always they do not address any of my concerns, but rather give generic comments like "we are working on it" etc. My shipment was lost. I requested a replacement. They said it would take FOUR weeks. I told them to give me a refund instead. They promised to do it within 3-5 business days.
