"I ordered Altec Lansing speakers from them. Their budget shipping (free) is a little mis-leading and a customer can be easily confused and tricked into selecting normal ground shipping (not free). However, since I wanted budget shipping, I simply emailed them and I received a refund very shortly after emailng them.
Pros: customer service, prices (& rebates), budget shipping, easy tracking, prompt delivery, good packaging.
Cons: some false advertising (may be coincidental/accidental)and misleading order page.
Edit: I had a very similar experience with that of Wenmang. Emails were all answered promptly, but literally 30 seconds before I ordered, the price went up $5 and they denied it, even though customer reviews AND techbargains.com proved my point. That is the only complaint I have with them."

"I ordered Viking SD 1GB card and it took over 14 days to receive it for free shipping. Other than that, everything went well. Every email was answered either the same day or next day. The only thing bothered me is that the price dropped another $5 after I purchased(after 4 days), they didn't honor the price match after 3 days, that sucks.

"I ordered DDR Extreme 2 about 2 weeks ago and still have yet to see it at my doorstep. The order status has been "On Order" for about a week after being at "Sent to Warehouse" for about the same length of time.

"GHASTLY customer service experience... The price they charged on my credit card was $20 more than what appeared on my order summary. The priority overnight shipping took FIVE days from release from their warehouse to arrive at my home. Now this is absurd when you consider I live 45 minutes from their Ontario,CA distribution center. In fact, they routed the package from Ontario CA to Los Angeles, CA (even closer to my home) to INDIANA!! No doubt they need a new shipping vendor or a better way of expediting orders. Beyond they did not respond to any of the THREE requests I sent in through their customer support site... There is a reason why they NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER listed on their site. I highly discourage anyone from BUY.com"
"Purchased two items and decided to get visa card with $25 "credit". Has used 10% off coupon they provided. Not until I applied for the card and was approved did the credit become a coupon which could not be used with the 10% off. This according to customer service even though their website specifically showed me how much the order would be with the credit, after the 10% coupon.
The good:
1. One item shipped immediately and I got it the next day. Unusual for free shipping.
2. They don't charge your credit card unless the item ships.
3. They do answer their phone number,***-***-****,quickly, probably because most people don't have it since they don't list it on the site. Can't resist, it might be better if they didn't answer considering what you get.
4. They do answer their emails eventually but you get the same as you do over the phone, i.e., "company policy is, have a nice day."
The bad:
1. Customer service can be hard to understand and rude.
2. Customer service is evidently unable to do anything except parrot the company policies.
3. You can't cancel an order. I decided to cancel the second item because I didn't personally didn't like their practices which I felt were misleading and deceptive. Turns out I can't cancel even though they don't have the item in stock and have no idea if they ever will. I was told that after three days it would be sent to corporate who would decide whether I could cancel.
Have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. They don't have it and they will consider whether they will let me cancel the order? Its now 3/31/06 and I still have no idea whether they are going to cancel as I requested or ship it no matter what I have requested.
I applied for the Amazon card and got the credit even though I used coupons. Have never had a problem cancelling anything on Amazon or anywhere else especially when the item isn't in stock.
Overall I don't need the hassle will not be using their credit card nor buying from them again. They don't seem to care about their customers.
Order if you must but make sure the item is in stock and your willing to deal with the worst in customer service. Though I don't know how they would know what their stock is since the website still says they have the item, two days after I was told they had none in stock.
Can't understand how they stay in business. "
"I used to purchase a lot from Buy.com and I guess I won't be doing that any more. I recommended this merchant to couple of my co-workers and they all came back with some bad experience with them. At first, I don't believe them. Until today, I experience it myself. I will have to say they are totally disappointing.
This is what I ran into today:
First, I got an email from Buy.com visa providing several special discount if I use their visa card. One of them is $15.00 off if my purchase is over $115.00. So, I went online on 3/30, one day before the coupon expired on the 31st., to purchase a external DVD writer. That unit cost $128.00. When I tried to apply the coupon, it won't let me. And there is no direct phone number to call their customer service. So, I sent a e-mail request explaination. The next day, their system generated a auto message back to me, saying they will help me with the issue within one to two days. Well, I can't wait for two days because the coupon expired on the 31st, which is the day I received their automatic generated message. So, I sent them back an e-mail requested contact phone number. I am able to get their number on that day. So, I called them up and the person I talked to has no idea why. Then he told to place the order online and call them back again after. They will manually adjust it for me. I did exactly what he told me shortly after I hanged up with him. After I placed the ordered, I call them right away. I talked to another person. After answering his 15 questions to verify who I am, I explained to him what's going on. He then told me he can not deduct it from my bill or invoice since it charged to the Buy.com visa. What he can do is to request a refund of the $15.00 afterwards. When I asked me when I will see the refund, he couldn't give me a straight answer. He said something about "you will have to pay for the entire amount and then Buy.com visa will issue a refund afterward." That seems to me in order to use the $15.00 refund, I will have to purchase another product from them. Well, I guess it's OK. It's better than nothing. Then I asked him to send me an e-mail to confirm the refund thing. He said he can't. It's against the company policy.
What I notice from this purchase is:
The two persons that I talked to sounds like they are from middle east. I have a hard time to understand everything they said. Both persons are rude and don't have a nice attitude towards their customers. (my co-worker told me the same thing) Buy.com has totally strip down their customer service down next to non. Their coupon or what they promise for discount may not be there, or you have to jump over hops to get it. My co-worker has the same experience. It's also about some kind of coupon discount thing.
I used to buy from them even though their price is not the best. But from now on, I will not recommend "Buy.com" to anyone. In fact, I will tell people not to buy from them. I found their price gone up and is not as competitive with other merchants anymore. Now with the bad customer service. There is no way I will buy from them again.

"I only purchase hard drives from Buy.com and generally, they ship quickly and I receive them without any issues.
There was one time when I ordered two of the Lacie external drives but the package was mistakenly sent back to Buy.com by Fedex. However once I sent an email to notify them of the error, they shipped the hard drives back to me. Good experiences so far. "
"ordered a speaker system , realized that i had used the wrong cc number, so sent an email to inform them about it (since phone number is impossible to find on site). the auto response says that my email iwll be read and replied in 10 hrs.
Since then I have called in twice (found number on internet), emailed about 5 times. i have had 1 reply to an email, and the first guy on the phone told me he had fixed my problem. the second person said she could not do anything but for me to wait for it to process. It has been 10 days since I placed my order, and it is still "processing". Whereas a problem like that on amazon.com would be fixed in 5 mins, just like that!

"Just bought a casio z850 from BUY.COM, and the online purchase was straight forward and easy, and shipping was free and arrived on the day that was promised... I never had a problem with BUY.COM, and I am really surprised that others are having problems with this company... I had a question about the return policy (due to rumors about the casio z850 video)(deciding to keep the camera anyways), and they replied back within 24hrs.

"Wow. Amazing! How can an "internet super store" have such crummy customer service, so consistantly?? Maybe because it's SUPER bad customer service??
Here's what's happened so far:
October 4th - Order placed, checkout through Google checkout.
October 6th - Notification of shipment from Buy, USPS delivery confirmation number given.
October 9th - checked USPS website, no joy on the delivery confirmation number (now I know, as most everyone does, that USPS has the WORST tracking capability of anyone......so I'll give it a couple more days, maybe between the weekend and the holiday, they haven't updated the info yet).
October 11th - STILL no joy on USPS website. They don't even have any record that the number provided by Buy is a good one, and pretty much tell me that the tracking number does NOT exist.
This is when I decide to e-mail Buy.com's customer service on their website. But OOOPS!! that doesn't seem to be working! After a 15 minute search, I find a customer service 800 number, and get their wonderful call center in India. After spending 5 minutes on ignore, and another 5 minutes proving that I'm really me, the CSR tells me that according to the website, the package shipped on October 6th, and gives me the tracking number. Gee, thanks! I go round and round with this woman, and finally get fed up with her and ask to speak to a supervisor....and she claims she's a supervisor! I tell her "Lady, unless you OWN buy.com, you have a boss, and I'd like to speak to that person.
10 more minutes on ignore......and finally, I get a supervisor! After giving them the pertinent info, they tell me the EXACT SAME THING THE CSR TOLD ME!!!!! Geez, what a dummy I am, I can't even find that info on the website, huh??
Even though I'm ready to slap someone right about now, I ask very nicely if possibly they can't get ahold of the warehouse, and ask them if the package REALLY shipped? And maybe get them to ensure that the tracking number is correct?? This is what we call CUSTOMER SERVICE, lady!!
If I don't have any info by Friday, I'm calling the corporate offices, and lighting up someone's life there. More later!"
"Purchased a book on 2/7. About a week later, I received an unrelated CD boxed set instead of the book. Did the online RMA and shipped it back, requesting that they send the book. RMA was received on 2/21. After more than a month and several customer service queries, I still don't have my book. Finally cancelled my order. Don't even think about calling them. First, the phone number is nearly impossible find (hint: don't look on the buy.com site, do a google search) and second they've obviously set up an off-shore call center that capable of doing nothing more than you get via the customer service emails. Best bet is to simply not buy there in the first place."

"Ordered an HP LaserJet 1320 Monochrome Laser Printer on 3/16/06. Paid using PayPal. Paypal shows that the money was transferred to Buy.com, but Buy.com cancelled the order after they received my money. Called ***-***-**** to speak with a live person and was routed to New Delhi India. The person I spoke with insisted that they could only credit my account if I gave them my credit card number----wtf---that's why I use PayPal!!! I reluctantly gave them the number, but put a security watch on my card. I'll NEVER do business with Buy.com again!"
