"I have made several purchases with buy.com, becauses prices with coupons and free shipping often beat Amazon by a few bucks. You are paying for that if something goes wrong. I ordered two books and a DVD totalling about $40. A few days later I received a single, unrelated pamphlet with the same tracking number they claimed was for my order. Fast forward several emails and calls to India, I decided to cancel the order because the books were time-sensitive and their 'policy' is to wait 2 weeks to evaluate whether they will do anything to resolve the order. I returned the pamphlet with the RMA I received. When they got the pamplet back they refunded me $5.50.
I really expect more from a business. In contrast I had a problem with an Amazon product and they immediately shipped me a replacement 1-day delivery before I had even returned the first item."
"A friend had given me some money for buy.com. After reading the reviews of this site I was rather scared to even both, but I had no problems.
Placed my order and got my items when they said it would arrive. Everything in my order was in perfect working order and packaged well, so will here no complaints from me. "
"I like shopping at Buy.com. I've bought many items here and they typically have good prices, fast shipping and reasonable freight rates if its not a "free shipper".
My only problem with them is their customer "service." Ideally, one doesn't need to communicate with them but when questions arise or problems develop, their lack of knowledge really reflects badly on the company.
Thankfully, I haven't had to work with them in resolving any problems per se. All of my contact with them has been in regards to questions on coupons or availability. To be blunt, their apparent inability to answer rather routine questions have caused me to purchase items elsewhere on more than one occasion.
Its unfortunate, really, as I like shopping Buy.com. And I will continue to do so but I wish they'd put some more effort into the service side of their company."

"It has become very clear that the staff at Buy.com has no idea where an order is in their pipeline. After railing at their rep on the phone when he told me that the item I ordered was on back-order, the next day the item showed up.
I don't know if this was an exception or the rule that when a customer service agent doesn't know where an irem is, they just say it's on back-order. This, I cannot tollerate, when I place an order, I expect the vendor to be truthful and not give me a run-around.
This being said, I will never do business with them again. I don't care how good their prices are, I don't want to be lied to."

Silly me, after having such a bad experience over Christmas (painstakingly selected and ordered books for my nephews for Christmas. Ordered 2 days before the "last day to order for delivery by Christmas", 12/10 - when did my package arrive? JANUARY 12th!!! Was forced to run to Barnes the day before Christmas and pay through the nose!)
Anyway, like I said, silly me after the Christmas experience to be such a sucker for a "we haven't seen you in awhile" email with a 10% off offer.
So I ordered 3 stock market books I've been eyeing. Ordered on May 4th - it is now May 19th and STILL NO PACKAGE!!! This was shipped via 'budget shipping' (7-9 day delivery time) - 15 days later it still cannot get from California to Utah???
I WILL NEVER, I REPEAT, NEVER ORDER THROUGH BUY.COM AGAIN.
Do yourself a favor -Pay the $.80 more per book and order through Amazon.com and you'll get your beautifully packed order in 3 days ...without fail!!!"
"Purchased 35 wireless keyboards and mice - received 35 wired keyboards and mice (shipped in 7 separate boxes).
RMA was approved and pre-paid shipping labels were suppposed to be sent. Sent 3 e-mails - all were ignored. After 2 phone calls shipping labels were finally sent.
Received only 1 return shipping label - needed 7. Made another phone call and was told to expect the remaining labels. After waiting 2 more weeks - the labels don't arrive. Call AGAIN, only to be told the RMA has expired and the items cannot be returned. GRRR.
After being literally yelled at by a very rude "customer service" agent, was finally told the problem would be escalated and an e-mail would be sent in 2 to 3 days. NO E-MAIL CAME.
Call again - this is getting fun. Initially refuse to issue a new RMA, but another argument and threats of abitration with MasterCard get them to escalate again - "you'll hear from us in 2 to 3 days."
Finally, a new RMA is issued. Oh, but no labels. 3 more ignored e-mails and 2 phone calls later (with reps whom I cannot understand) and a very rude, extremely unprofessional customer service manager says buy.com will not issue return labels - ever. She finally ends the call by saying the issue will be escalated, but in the meanwhile, the current RMA will expire in only 8 more days.
In desparation - I pay the return shipping fees ($150) and hope I receive a credit.
My company spent over $30,000 with buy.com last year. As the IT director - I have personally wasted over 10 hours on this issue. I should have just kept the keyboards, but didn't on principle. MY COMPANY WILL NEVER SHOP AT BUY.COM AGAIN.

"I have been purchasing from BUY.COM for around 6 years now, maybe longer. I have only 2 negatives - their shipping takes a day or two longer than when I first bought from them and when you email them, you get canned responses. These are the only negatives I have ever encountered.
The positives far outwiegh the negatives: their price matching is above and beyond, especially with books. They have matched every request, even a few that I submitted that I doubted I would get and truly didn't deserve (Amazon had a special shipment with flaws they discounted, buy.com matched plus took 10% off even though I got a new book, not a factory 2nd book). I have never had a problem returning something. I have never had to pay return shipping. They have been the best retailer I have consistantly dealt with on any type of regular basis.
BUY.COM is one of the few really good giant retailers. They have their faults but their positives are much higher in number."
"This is my second order from Buy.com. It went perfect. Ordered Friday and was delivered FedEx ground Tuesday. This was a USB external drive. Brand new set up and working perfectly in less than 10 minutes.
They cannot be blamed for defective merchandise as they do not test items themselves. All my transactions with them or any 'honest' company work this way if NO PHONE CALLS are involved. Once you start calling these business then you end up with poor service. You may be talking to some call taker working out of their bedroom. I know, I am in telecommunications, the equipment end and I know who our customers are.
Send and email, have a paper trail. I have delt with several shoddy companies on the internet and the greatest number fail when phone calls are involved. Often emails are received by some business and I never get a confirming response. Even Faxes go unanswered.
My experience with Buy.com has been flawless and I will use them again until I get screwed."
"I purchased Hallmark Card Studio on 04/30/2006 when the item was in stock and there are two rebates available making the final price of the product after rebates to $0. I kept checking for the item availability on 05/01/2006 and 05/02/2006 and the site kept showing that the item is in stock. On 05/03/2006 the item was backordered. I called Buy.com inquiring about my order. The customer service told me that they are wating on the item from the manufacturer.
On 05/11/2006 I received an email from Buy.com saying that the item is no longer available. When I recieved this email I suspected that Buy.com was playing with my order, so I added an alert to the item I purchased for sending me an email when the item is back in stock. To my surprise I received an email from Buy.com saying that the item is back on stock on 05/13/2006. Immediately I called the Buy.com customer service for reinstating my order. But customer service denied to reinstate my order mentioning that they don't know that they are getting the item back in stock within two days.
Which I think is ridiculous and Buy.com was not honest in fulfilling my order. I am really very unhappy about this and the customer service representative was suggesting me to buy it now at a heigher price.
VERY BAD POLICY at BUY.COM. I advice internet buyers to go to AMAZON.COM to buy any of their needs.

"Horrible experience. I placed an order that came to around $150.00. Three days later the order was still "processing". All of my emails were ignored. All I received from them was auto generated emails. They did bill me immediately.
We'll see if I ever get a refund.

"I have to admit buying a $1700 bbq on the internet for $1194 seems a little suspicius. I was very leary so I did some research and called Buy.com. (There telephone # is not listed but can be found easily on the net). Everything seemed on the up and up so I placed my order on a Wednesday night. Thursday my account said it was processed and was in the "sent to wharehouse" stage. Then on friday it said SHIPPED!! There was no tracking number so I called Buy.com. The only problem I have with them is that their calls are routed to India. This made things very difficult since they dont seem to understand anything that you are telling them. I hung up the phone with no help. Monday morning came and I got a phone call from a delivery company to schedule curbside delivery for tuesday. Tuesday came and so did the BBQ! It was brand new, undamaged and the exact model that I had ordered! GOOD JOB BUY.COM!! The BBQ is out of this world as was the price from buy.com. They did pull through and I am very impressed. Do not hesitate to purchase any products from them.."
