"Having made several orders from Buy.com over the years with always excellent prices & services, I was very disturbed about the reviews I found posted here - especially since I had just made an order for a Belkin UPS.

Order was 2/9 with regular ground shipping - immediately received email saying it had been shipped same day - got busy and forgot about the order - about 2/17 it dawned on me that I had never received it - went to Buy.com to check on order status - FedEx tracking indicated order had been delivered on 2/10 (which would have been fantastic for normal ground shipping).

Tried to report problem to Buy.com but their system would not allow me to report nondelivery until 15 days had passed. So, I emailed FedEx directly with tracking number.

FedEx service was incredible - received email within an hour apologizing for the problem - indicated they would put out trace - on Saturday, I received call at home from driver indicating that the address had been smudged on the label and he had left package at wrong address and was attempting to retrieve. Package was delivered (still unopened) on 2/21.

So, Buy.com service was great - so was FedEx - delivery was delayed but stuff happens. Don't know if I just got lucky but at this point, I'm satisfied. However, Buy.com not allowing to report delivery problem for so long, is ridiculous, especially when tracking indicates delivery had been completed. But, FedEx came through for me.

"Ordered a wireless phone and plan, in stock, waited a week for any kind of e-mail, nothing. My order was partially processed and accepted, but sat at the "collecting payment" stage for four days. My last name was mangled because it has an aposterphe in it, and this is probably why payment was never collected. There is no customer service what-so-ever. The email forms are broken and are returned as a delivery failure. The 800 number menu system is difficult to navigate, occasionally never connects, and always has a busy signal when you are transferred. Worthless! Don't bother with buy.com."

"I am very surprised at all of the negative comments posted about Buy.com. I have been happily buying almost all of my computer software, hardware, and electronic equipment there. I have never received a damaged purchase. When I choose to return an item, it is pain free.
The prices are usually the best around and most have free shipping.

"Bumped into this site looking for WB stuff. But since it's on the subject of buy.com I had to add my two cents. I ordered Knight Rider Season 1 Dec 10th, it arrived Dec 19 in an envelope. (the ones that stick together) Of course it was smashed. Sent it back Dec 24th, Jan 3rd they recieved it. And tons of emails they finally sent me a replacement (thanks in part to bbb.org) Feb 9th. As well as a free $20 gift certificate. I ordered The Good The Bad The Ugly collectors edition. Ans sure enough. Bad packaging resulted in a dvd roaming around fee of itself. So it's all scratched up. When buy.com first came out it sucked. Then someone revitalized it and it was grand. Looks like they reverted to far worse than their old ways. Avoid this store even with a gift certificate. You'll be caught in a "sand trap""

"Buy.com advertised an excellent deal on a DVD Writer. I bought it, no problems were mentioned, the item was in stock and everything according to the website was a go. I bought Cruel Intentions ($11) as a filler item to get my total past $25 for free shipping.

Four days later, after they had shipped my Cruel Intentions, Buy.com sends me an email canceling my DVD Writer purchase due to "unavailibility". I sent them an email requesting a cancellation of my whole purchase, but they refused, saying that it had already shipped. Worse, they said that if I wanted to return Cruel Intentions, I would be responisble for the related fees, as if it were my fault!

This is a despicable way to run a business.

"I too,am one of the misguided who placed an order for the Norcent DVD burner. Cancelled also,noting I would not be charged for the cancelled item! Duh!!Their 2.16 rating is richly deserved. A most consumer arrogant merchant!! Avoid!!!!!"

"Order got cancelled. Falsely advertise product(s) that is not in stock, so they can draw in orders for 1) increasing sale on items combined with the same order 2) obtain more customer's private information. Either 2 assets are worth the money for Buy.com to attempt these fradulent business practices. I'm not the only one, and they will most likely continue to do this. They have no respect for the law, as well as for their customers. STAY AWAY!"

"They had a dvd writer on sale for 19.30. I need 25.00 to qualify for free shipping. So I bought the dvd writer and 2 extra items so I could get free shipping. They then cancel my dvd writer, saying it was out of stock. But the 2 extra items will come soon.
I feel like the dvd writer was put on sale just to lure customers to buy extra stuffs (may or may not be true)

"they cancelled my order, and shipped my filler. this is the N-times they cancelled the order. They cancelled the order once the Fedex shipped the product to your house. i think they wants to boost their sales by just selling the filler in full price. sucks, stay away from them if u can... now they dun even send u a gift cert to confront u.... clearly, they dont care about the customer at all, maybe they are closing soon. so, the customer loyalty is nothing.... and they announce that they will open a new sister company.... then in short time, people will forget this sister company elong to BUy.com... what a perfect marketing...Cancellation Kings"

"I made a purchase of 2 norcent dvd burners, 2 to qualify for free shipping, after 4 days of saying "sent to warehouse" I receive a "your order is cancelled" email with a generic excuse.

I have also had other bad experiences with them when I tried to cancel an order 2 hours after placing it but they said they couldn't guarantee they could when I called so they said to refuse it and they would credit my credit card back. The order shipped out 3 days later and I refused it but they said they had no record of it. Still trying to get my money back. good luck with this company I won't shop here again

"Purchased a USB hub from these guys because there was a rebate available for it. The order was placed 2/11/05 and I received a confirmation. Two days later, I received a confirmation stating that my order had shipped on 2/12/05, which is a Monday. For FOUR straights day, I kept checking USPS's tracking system with the tracking number Buy.com provided, and each day, it said that there was no such number. Hmm, that's strange. Finally, today, 2/17/05, the number shows up in the system. The status:
The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on February 16, 2005 to expect your package for mailing. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
So, apparently Buy.com lies about their shipping date and is unbelievably slow. It took them 4 days to ship out a small item.

In addition to this, in my past dealings, these guys have been downright horrible with customer service. I had difficulty even finding a customer service number to call (there's none on their site! You have to google for it.) They had a Buy.com VISA rewards system. If you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from it. Their system is always slow to update, and sometimes they screw up and leave out months, and when you try to reach them, it's a round-robin of "it's not our fault, it's FirstUSA Bank's!"

Stay away from these guys, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE STORE.
