DVD burner order "went to warehouse" then to "processing" then cancelled after 3 days. Other item sent, but useless now that I don't have a burner. I will not purchase from Buy.com again or recommend to anyone else. There are many reputable vendors on the web that are customer oriented and communicate in a timely fashion. "I ordered a Samsung monitor with free shipping. The delivery was to be 7-9 business days. Apparently, it got lost in shipping. Their policy is to not even accept a claim until 21 days have elapsed. So they take my money, don't deliver and expect me to wait before they will "look into" the matter. That will then take another 15 days.
Calling them does no good -- you get a call center in India with people programmed to say how sorry they are but they can do nothing.
Sorry is right. This whole company is sorry. And I will never spend a dime with them again."
"Not that bad as recent ratings say...
I haven't used Buy.com for about a year. Prior to that, I was very happy with them. So, when I found they had the best price for a SanDisk memory card, I placed the order without bothering to check their ratings. I was terrified when, after placing my order, I saw their low ratings on this site.
The way things turned out, I was overall pleased shopping from them. My order, (free-shipping), placed on 2/6, was delivered on 2/14 - well within the advertised 10 business days. My only complaint, which I think causes many of the complaints I've seen on this site, is that their tracking system with USPS seems to be out to lunch: up until the day my order was delivered, the Buy.com site showed my item shipped, while the USPS site showed something like "we've been notified of intention to ship".
I called their Customer Service - was very pleased that I went through with no time on-hold. The person I spoke to was knowledgable, and I think they answered all my questions. I saw other reviewers complaining about outsourcing in India - based on my experience, I have no problem with that.
Overall, not a bad experience. I hope buy.com fixes this issue with order tracking though - I think they're getting lots of bad publicity for that..."
"Great experience. Purchased item on 2/9 recieved on 2/14, but would have gotten it sooner had it not been for the weekend. In addition I was not charged until the item shipped.
I believe the only reason Buy.com has such a low rating is that it does not have someone hired to check rating websites and bribe dissatisfied customers into increasing their rating (like newegg). I had a much better experience at buy.com than at the aformentioned site; will definitely shop here again."

"Their wireless dept is the worst experience i have dealt with on online purchasing... and ive done a lot. Story goes. I Ordered a cell phone (in stock) from then 1/31. I wait a few days expecting to get it but it never came. Checked online to see the status of it and it was "sent to warehouse." I called them up and then they said youll have to call the wireless department. I call them and they have no record of the order and tell me to call buy.com. I call buy.com and they said they would look over my order and send out an email with more details. After no email i call again and they send me back to the wireless dept. I call the wireless dept and they send me back to buy.com. I see this is going nowhere and send an email out. They finally get back to me with "unseen delays" and will give me an email when it ships. I reply wanting a date. They reply with "cant tell you."
I cancelled my order and ordered elsewhere. Dont buy wireless service from them. They suck. "

"I ordered a cell phone through Buy.com last June. My first & last order! The ad claimed that the Nokia cell phone was $49.99 & also included $150 in rebates (it showed making a profit of $100.01 after rebates). Finally after severeal phone calls, emails, etc.; I received $70 in rebates (in November '04)...still missing $80. False advertisement, I guess. Buy.com has very poor customer support!
Update 2/18/05: After going through the complaint process with the Better Business Bureau, I was credited the $80 on my credit card from buy.com. I am still disappointed with this company & will never purchase from them again."

"I placed an order in December and paid for 3-day shipping, but the package arrived almost 2 weeks later. Since it was late, I had to repurchase the items (2 CDs) from a local store in time for Christmas. After the holiday, I returned the package to Buy.com at my own expense and requested a refund.
I have been on the phone with Buy.com 3 times since December about this issue. The package supposedly is lost as Buy.com says they have not received it. Since I don't have a tracking # from the post office, Buy.com refuses to refund my money. The customer service is horrendous and completely unhelpful. I have made purchases from them in the past but will never do so again and will encourage everyone I know to avoid this site."
"Last time I will buy from these guys. I previously bought $2,700 of stuff from them and I did not have any serious problems. This includes home electronics, DVDs, computer hardware. I never needed thier "customer support" before. This time I did. I bought an IPOD for Xmas for my daughter and received a empty box, the manufacturor's box was slashed open - no IPOD. The shipping container was intact. I have tried for 6 weeks to resolve it with them and have given up. I filed a claim right away Dec 22, "they will contact me in 10-15 days". Finally I call customer service - my phone calls are routed to the India call center- "they will contact you within 5 bus days". Nothing. Another [long] call I requested to speak to someone in managment - "we will call you back today". I'm still waiting. I'm contesting it with my credit card company, they got a nice package from me including pictures of what I received.
