"Ordered an Apple iPod from buy.com on 1/8/2005. Buy.com claims it shipped on 1/10/2005. UPS however, says they were never given the package from buy.com's warehouse. Now, I have to wait another 7 days before I can file a claim with buy.com (they make you wait 13 days from their claimed ship date before you can file.)
This is really getting my blood pressure up. I called buy.com and all I get is a call center in India where everyone reads the policy to me. What great customer service (sarchasm!)"

I ordered a Buffalo Wifi Router + Wireless Card during a recent promo.
Received the Router but no Wireless Card. After many promises that the card would ship on a separate shipment, I finally received an email stating that there was no such advertisement and I would only receive the router. Well, I do have a printout of the promo from their website as a proof. After calling many times their customer support, they could not tell me what exactly happened to the card. Some would tell me that it would arrive within 2 weeks; others would tell me that there wasn't such promo. Their call center is located in India and they are hard to understand and not professional when dealing with your request. After many unsuccessful attempts to have an 'American based CSR' to handle my call, I decided to return the product. And again, beware, they will not refund your shipping charges. Thumbs way down for Buy.com."

I ordered a Buffalo router on Jan 12, and there was a deal that gives me a free notebook adapter with my order.
The router arrived 3 days late, Jan 14. Fedex's fault.
The package didn't include the free notebook adapter as advertised. I contacted buy.com three times, and they wouldn't back up their own deal, stating that it was an error on the web site that displayed that deal. BS! The free notebook adapter deal was going on for months, if it was an error on the web site they should have caught it already instead of waiting until I get my order and find out that it's an "error" on the website.
DO NOT TRUST BUY.COM!"

I am extremely unhappy and disappointed by the way buy.com handles orders and cancellations.
I have placed an order for the item clearly marked as in-stock and "Shipped in 1 or 2 days". After seen my order not moving I sent my first email to customer service. Reply email contained the request to cancel my order. The explanation was that the item is out-of stock for some reason. I looked at the web site and the item was clearly back in stock! I called the customer and asked why should I cancel the order if the item was in stock at the time of the ordering and was in stock at the time of calling. The CSR had struggled to understand what was that I was asking about. Her English was very poor and she was repeating "Your order cannot be processed for some reason" no matter how I tried to explain her the problem. After spending 15 minutes with totally not helping CSR and not much more helpful supervisor (Sonja) who added one more phrase to the dictionary: "You must cancel you order", I was explained that the first time the product was offered in a clearance category and the second time around, it was in Electronics. They stated that if item is out-of-stock in one category (although Buy.com site stated it was in) and suddenly is in-stock in the other category, the site is not able to process the order.
After hanging up, I decided to cancel my order and re-order. I have placed a cancellation. Then I proceeded to ordering an item, however I was not able to add item to the cart no matter what I did.
To sum it all up:
1. I ordered the item clearly marked as in-stock
2. I was requested to cancel, because of the set-back with manufacturer (read below)
3. The item appeared as in stock again.
4. Knowing Buy.com's poor ratings in that respect I figured It'd be easier to just re-order.
5. I cancelled the absolutely valid order for the Item marked as in-stock
6. I tried to again order the in-stock item from different category only to fail it again.
As such I was deceived and mis-informed and by the Buy.com twice. This was my last order placed with Buy. Next time I will need something, I will look at Amazon or elsewhere."
"I purchased a Cruzer Companion MP3 player from Buy.com on January 7. By January 11, it was delivered. Packing was more than adequate, the MP3 player was new and sealed in a blister pack.
I am very satified with my purchase and based on my experience, I would shop here again. The price was better than the online stores I usually buy from."
"Buy.com's Customer Service is horrible. I purchased something from them several months ago but was sent only one of ten items I ordered even though I was charged for all 10. I tried to call their Customer Service, but the number is unlisted. After scouring the internet to find it, I made over a dozen calls trying to fix my order. Every time I called, I was given different information. I filed a claim to get my money back and I had to wait a month before they would even think about giving me one. Finally, they said that I would be given a refund and that it would take 5 days to process. I have this 5 day promise in writing. Yet 5 days later, no refund. I called, they said it would be more than 5 days, so I waited a week. Still no refund. Another call a week later, the refund was "being processed." Over two months, a dozen calls, and hours of my time later, I finally got my refund. Absolutely horrible customer service. If Buy.com cared about retaining customers, they would fulfill their promises and work a lot harder at fixing their problems faster.
I decided to give Buy.com a chance to redeem themselves and placed another order with them. This time, even though the items were listed as in stock when I ordered, my items sat backordered for 6 weeks before Buy.com finally cancelled my order.
Nonetheless, I was stupid enough to make another purchase from them again a few months later when I saw that they offered the lowest price anywhere with free shipping. It turns out that they sent me the wrong item again and I no longer would have the item in time for Christmas due to their mistake. I sent the item back a couple of weeks ago and still haven't received my replacement. Thanks Buy.com for another botched order. You're 0 for 3 in my book."
"The WORST online store...!!!
Buy.com intentionally shipped the wrong product (that I did NOT order). When I requested for the replacement for the correct product, Buy.com just simply ignore my request. Buy.com just gave me a "partially" refund w/ a deduction of the shipping fees.
The CS of Buy.com is very UNPROFESSIONAL & do NOT understand English...!!!

"I was lured back to try purchasing product from Buy.com, by a offer of 10% off(max $20). I purchased an XFX 6800GT graphics card + Doom 3 bundle. I was sent graphics card without Doom 3 game. Despite fact that shipping invoice didn't even list Doom 3 game, and several emails to Buy.com, I still haven't received a real response to claim(or the game itself) one month after placing order. (And to think I paid extra for "express shipping" instead of free UPS ground!) The epitome of poor customer service."
"Decent prices and they used to ship very promptly. My last order took almost a week to ship and did not arrive for 11 days. I ordered 4 controllers and they only shipped 2. I am still waiting for a response to my claim filed December 24th. If the order is not correct, you can wait until hell freezes over to even get a response from them. I do 90% of my shopping via the internet or ebay, but I will never purchase from Buy.com again!"
"I live in a mountain community that has no mail delivery other than to P.O. Boxes. Prior to placing my order I contacted customer service to verify the shipping method and was told that my order would be shipped via UPS. I therefore provided my street address as the shipping address. Also, I paid for the order by money order. I received a shipping confirmation e-mail several days later that showed the item was being shipped via U.S. Mail. This of course meant that the item was undeliverable and was subsequently returned by the post office to Buy.com. I contacted Buy.com about their mistake and was told that they couldn't re-ship the item, that I would have to submit a claim for it, but would have to wait 15 days past the expected delivery date before I could do so. I protested, but got nowhere. I filed the claim and received an e-mail that said it would take five days to process the claim (their website says 15 days). After 17 days I had still heard nothing and so I contacted customer service only to discover that they still hadn't processed the claim. Finally, six weeks after placing the order, after multiple phone calls and many e-mails, the claim was approved, but only for the price of the merchandise. The claim did not provide for a refund of the shipping charges even though they have acknowledged that it was their mistake that made the package undeliverable.
I am still trying to resolve the issue and now, more than 2 months after placing the order, have received nothing from them.
I should also mention that their customer service people have lied to me (or at least provided horribly inaccurate information) on many occasions. Here are just a few of them:
Telling me that the order would be shipped via UPS.
Later telling me that customer service has no idea nor any control over how things are shipped. (I have since discovered that this is false).
Telling me that my order had been shipped via FedEx when it had really been shipped via US Mail.
Telling me that my order had been re-shipped after its return to Buy.com via FedEx. (I was told this one twice and when I told the second C.S. person that he was mistaken, he got very tesy and argumentative).
I think you get the idea. So far, the experience has been unbelievable. How could a company of this size be so bad at something that is so basic and fundamental as customer service?"
"Ordered a couple of Macally aluminum hard drive enclosures on Saturday evening 12/25/2004, mainly due to a good price and free shipping offer. Had them in my hands by Tuesday afternoon 12/28/2004. Both work excellent and were well packed. I must admit the shipping was really fast for a ground shipment, but it appears they have a warehouse not too far away. Reading other reviews of buy.com maybe I was just lucky, since quite a few people say they have problems, but I had a really excellent experience with Buy.com and this was my first purchase from them. I must recommend them from my experience. We will see how they do next time."
