"Customer service sucks. Placed order of cell phone on 4/29/04. Waited and waited and order never came. Emailed to request status and no reply. After a month, took up matter with California Better Business Bureau. They assist in contact and buy.com emailed me saying the order has been cancelled. I checked my account history to see part of my order is still "on order". I emailed buy.com numerous times to update the information. I did receive a reply. Basically the same reply of cancellation. But my account page not updated reflecting their email.

As of today 7/5/04, the status of my order is still "on order". buy.com has some good prices, but because I am on the east coast, I prefer to shop locally that allows price matching or with credit card that matches online. I will never buy from buy.com.

"This company has gone into a sudden decline. I ordered a selection of DVD's and CD's which arrived with no packing material at all. Needless to say all of them were damaged. This was the first time this had happened so I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. I enclosed a letter of complaint with the RMA and waited for replacements to be shipped.
To my amazement I received damaged goods again! I sent multiple emails complaining about the situation and tried to get some form of satisfaction but I received pre-canned email replies and more annoyingly they issued me another RMA number, something I could have done myself on their website. I'm effectively back where I started.
I'm not prepared to send the items back again (the discs themselves are ok) so I'll have to accept this as a bad experience which will not be repeated because I will not buy from them again until their shipping processes and customer service improve.

"My dissatisfaction with this company is their ho-hum attitude concerning shipping. This is characterized by their : usually ships within one or two days : statement. The buyers method of shipment choice apparently does not effect the priority with which the order is handled. This company is in California as am I. I placed my order at about 10:30 AM on Thur, 1 July. I selected next business day shipping thinking that being that the company is only a few hundred miles away and the order was placed in the AM that I should receive the shipment on Friday, 2 July.Buy.com does not provide a phone number on their web site but I ran them down anyway and after a 15 minute wait was told by a customer service person that they could not guarantee when the items would ship. Obviously my selection of :next day delivery: was a waste of money. As UPS and FedEx do not deliver on Sat or Sun maybe I will see my order sometime next week. "

"I preordered a game. They did not have stock until this weekend. I was hoping they will ship as they promised when the item was in stock. They have yet to ship the item. I have added a book at the time which was received not too many days after ordering. I do not know how they will handle the shipping charge since part of shipment is cancelled. I would be very wary of purchasing any items from them considering there's no way to call them."

"GOOD ONE! READ THIS!
How to return an "unopened" item (from most anyone!), and not pay any extra "return" shipping!-
I ordered the wrong item, and called buy.com (you get a phone#, with email order confirmation)cust svc for instructions (item had already shipped, but not received yet)? They advised me to-
1. Go to their "excellent" web site, and get an RMA# (very easy- "returning items...").
2. When I receive the item- "Do not open it!".
3. Write the RMA# on the outside of the box.
4. "Call" the carrier (cannot take to their depot), and schedule a pickup.
a. Request that the carrier leave you proof of return (in case of any hassle...)!
b. Make note of the tracking#, and print it out on their web site, after returned.

Buy.com gave me a "full credit", and ate the "free" shipping! Couldn't have been better!

"My company has been a Buy.com purchaser for 5 years or so, but in the last 9 months, our experience with their sloppy inventory status, poor shipping performance, incomplete past order archiving and non-existant and incompetant customer support has lead us to BLACKLIST Buy.com from all future purchasing here. The latest snafu has been pretty much the norm for our Buy.com purchasing experiances as of late:

Ordered a Benq FP731 LCD monitor in early morning on Thursday and as it was shown as 1-2 business days shipping and as the unit was ordered well before their 4 pm cutoff time, as per Buy.com's own order policy statement we should have expected shipment before the weekend. As of late Friday the webpage order status showed that the item had been "Sent to the Warehouse". Friday, Saturday, Sunday came an went with no shipment notification. Monday morning the order status was still stuck on "Sent to the Warehouse". Several emails later, and after business hours on Monday, Buy.com confesses by email that the order is "on a surprise backorder and the site is not updated about this information"....SUPRISE BACKORDER!!... SITE NOT UPDATED??. And as of Tuesday afternoon, the site still shows this item as available! Stay away from these jokers....

Excellent experience.
I have always had a good expereince with Buy.com even when I had to return a printer 3 years ago because it was damaged in shipping.

"I, too, have read (and believe) the horror stories of buy.com. However, I haven't had that experience. I ordered headphones and 5 DVD-rw discs on Sunday night....... and Wednesday the mailman handed them to me.

I actually had a simular experience from buy.com (after buying a gamepad) now that I recollect.

Free 2 day (it was) from California to Florida for a $26 order was worth my efforts to write these words.

"This was my second purchase with them, and I did not have a single problem. I ordered several items on a Saturday, and with free shipping all but one item came the following Wednesday. (The remaining item came from a warehouse on the other side of the country from me and did not arrive until Friday). Overall, great place to shop. The website's search engine is not the best one, but do try Amazon's before you complain. Definitely would do business again."

"I ordered the Samsung ML-1740 based on resellerratings.com's own Daily Deal Alerts. Because it was a Buy.com Deal of the Day, the quantity of the item available in inventory was listed--there were some eight hundred and change. $119.47 shipped, estimated delivery time 3-5 days (presumably 3-day FedEx Saver). I placed the order early Wednesday, and on Monday received an email with the subject "Still Looking...," explaining they were "still working on shipping" the item. The email referred me to the support section of their site if I wished to cancel. After submitting the form requesting cancellation, my email was bounced back. When I logged in and properly submitted a cancellation "request," I was told I'd have to wait 2-3 days to find out if it was actually canceled. Perhaps I've been spoiled by [a certain retailer with an outstanding reputation and the current low price for the product], but Buy.com has seen better days itself. This is not the company it used to be."

"I have purchased from buy.com on several occasions and had reasonable good service. But that impression has reversed.
I have attempted to buy a portable MP3 player, but my experience has been less than happy with buy.com. When I entered the order, they said it was in stock with a 1 to 2 day ship delay. After 3 days of no shipping, the site then changed to out of stock with a 1 to 2 week ship delay. Just today, it now says unavailable.
The only email I recieved was last week indication that they "are still looking for my item."
Now, when I check the website, there is the same MP3 player (but slightly different finish) available on a 1 to 2 day shipping. For more money.
I would consider shopping at another online store before buying from these people.

"I am writing because I believe that Buy.com deserves a higher score than the 3 they have now. I rodered a Netgear 108Mbps wireless router and a Netgear 108Mbps PCMCIA card from them and they both arrived as described in a fair time for the free shipping. The free shipping was with Fedex and I could watch my packages through each step to my door. They split the shipment into two packages so that I could get my router quicker, but both shipments were free. Overall I had a very positive experience with Buy.com"

"I'm so glad to learn of this site as I have been wanting to vent some of the many frustrations built up thanks to this company. I bought a product advertised using the words "as seen on TV", but when it did not come with the free item with which it was advertised, I contacted buy.com (after much doing as finding out how to contact them if you're not buying something is no small task) to be told that they were not aware of any such advertisement, therefore they were not responsible for providing the free item. They also advertised free shipping on orders over a certain amount, but after I placed my order, I was charged for shipping. I disputed the shipping charge, but was informed that the "free shipping" only applies to certain merchandise and I hadn't bought enough of "that" merchandise. They took it a step further, sending me three emails implying that my disatisfaction was due to a "misunderstanding" on my part and that if I wanted to ship the item back to them, they would credit me the purchase price -- not for the shipping that was supposed to have been free in the first place. As a result, I kept my purchase and the lesson that came with it, which is to never deal with buy.com again."
