"Have ordered from buy.com for years. Always decent prices and delivery. This time, they had good price on miniDV tapes. Only complaint -- they don't keep their order status info on their web page up to date."
"Buy.com is possibly the worst store I've ever shopped at. I purchased an item that said it would ship in 1-2 days. After 7 days, it hadn't shipped. The first time I called them they said there was an issue with the order not being sent to the warehouse and they would fix it. The second third and fourth times (on subsequent days) I called, they said the same thing. I finally canceled out of frustration. At no time did the CS apologize or offer me a future discount. I will never shop there again."
"I was surprised after reading the prior reviews on Buy.com. I purchased a Viking 128 compact flash card early morning on June 1, 2004 for $29.99 with a $20 MIR and I was amazed when I came home on June 2, 2004 and found the package waiting for me. I attribute the delivery speed to living in SoCal and based on the fact that Buy.com used fedex ground instead of UPS. But I had no problem with the overall transaction and was pleased with the quickness I received the order. Maybe I was lucky (for once)! "
"For everyone looking for a phone number for Buy.com.

Don't expect them to be anymore responsive or helpful than emailing them though."
"Been meaning to get around to this for some time. Bought a BenQ lcd over the holidays. A rebate was advertised as available. Problem was, if you clicked further, the rebate was not actually available any longer. In the holiday rush, I wasn't as fastidious as usual about checking the fine print.
The product had to be purchased within a certain time frame and sent in by a certain date as with any rebate offer. Buy.com advertised the rebate as "available" up until the deadline date the rebate submission needed to be postmarked, even though the terms of the rebate stated it had to have been purchased weeks earlier.
So even though the product was advertised with an available rebate, I hadn't even purchased within the time frame needed to qualify. Once the purchase deadline had passed, the product should no longer have been advertised with "rebate available".
I sent an email to Buy.com and explained what happened, being careful to say I figured it was just a mistake, asking for instructions on where to send the rebate materials and stating I hoped either Buy.com or the manufacturer would make good on the offer.
A few weeks went by and I figured I was out of luck. I had never had any problems with Buy.com before. Then I got an email from Buy.com stating they were going to credit my account the $60 rebate. They also sent me a 10% coupon off my next order. I was very happy, especially since the rebate was a manufacturer's rebate and not really Buy.com's responsibility, other than in their advertising error. To top it off, the packaging had been thrown out by mistake so even if I had met the time limits, I couldn't have gotten the rebate.
I don't know if it was due to their poor ratings or not, but they did good by me. I never had problems before, and they've always had very competitive pricing. So I have to buck the trend here and give Buy.com a thumbs up. They made the right decision and kept a valuable customer in the process. I am a tech and represent a lot of potential business for them, directly and indirectly. As a resource to family members and friends, a mishandling of the situation could have meant more then just the loss of one customer."
"Buy.com was running a day sale on the Kingston 256 mb SD card for 46.99$. I ordered it with free shipping and waited 3 days for a shipping notice until I found out that they had canceled it because the item was 'unavailable'. Surprise surprise when I visit their site again it seems they have the same item in stock but for 55.99$. Seems like buy.com was just doing the old bait and switch scam for my personal information. Last time I shop there again. What's worse is that others who part in the deal had their SD memory cards shipped. Was my order not good enough for buy.com? Now I hope they can just delete my account and so that I won't have to deal with them again."
"I am surprised to read the poor reviews of buy.com. I have used them for many years and never had a problem. Merchandise has always been exactly what I ordered, and delivery was excellent.
I have ordered from Buy.com both for myself at home and for the company I work for. Never had a problem.
May I suggest to one reviewer who was having trouble with their web site that you disable your popup killer program before going to the site. I use SMASHER and need to temporarily turn it off when visiting many sites which use cookies or secure data."
"I can't believe the bad comments regarding Buy.com.
I have purchased over 35 times (personally and work) from them, and haven't had a single problem. I even ordered the wrong item one time and they paid for return shipping. Their prices are right in line with other online stores."
"These guys are a joke. They sent me a $10 dollar coupon valid in all stores but when I tried to use it they said it was invalid. I went ahead and placed the $150 order anyways and emailed them with the problem because I was in a hurry and needed the product, figuring it would be a simple adjustment.
They said that coupons cannot be used after orders are placed and wrote me off. That's bull, it was a completely valid coupon and $10 off a $150.
Last time I ever place an order with them. If you want actual customer service I suggest you look elsewhere because you will not find it here."
"In late November 2003, I ordered an item for $69.99 from Buy.com, then attempted to cancel the order. The next day, Buy.com shipped the item anyway, claiming that my cancellation request was too late. Nevertheless, Buy.com recommended I refuse delivery of the item.
Buy.com shipped the item through a bottom-rung carrier, Fedex Home (a separate subsidiary of Federal Express). Fedex Home quietly left the package on my doorstep. I took the package to a Fedex office and instructed them to return it to the sender as delivery refused. I assume that Fedex did so, though Fedex Home does not, as a practice, document this kind of return in any way.
In late January, Buy.com still claimed not to have received the returned package, and refused to credit my account.
I have gone through Discover's dispute process, and Discover's own representatives have been incompetent or deceitful with me too. In the end, Discover is unwilling to accept any responsibility for its own incompetence/deceit, nor is it willing to assign any responsibility to Buy.com for the latter's incompetence or unscrupulousness.
The bottom line is, If you're going to purchase from Buy.com at all, use a *safe* credit card like Visa or Mastercard. If you return any item, you must re-ship it at your own expense through a *quality*, *trackable* carrier."
"After seeing everybody elses problems, I am afraid to rate buy.com too high, but I actually had a good experience. I ordered a Logitech mx310 optical mouse on Sunday night, and received it Wednesday before noon of the same week. Buy.com had the cheapest delivered price I could find. My free shipping was by Fedex Ground, so, maybe they have stopped using APX for shipping."
"I was extremely dissapointed with my ordering experience. So much so, that I have cancelled my order. The "Buy.com eXpert" is nothing more than a statement of company policy, and the customer service reply time is dismal. The only way I could get any answers that weren't form letters was to call. Don't even try to find the number on the site: it's not there. But it is HERE: 1-***-***-****
For me, they had trouble verifying my billing address, which was typed into their system EXACTLY as it appears on my billing statements. After a week of trading emails with them, only to have the item go out of stock during the wait, I gave up. I was supposed to have this item for my anniversary. I resolved the issue by ordering it from Amazon instead."
"Very dissatisfied. Have placed several orders with them but took advantage of their free shipping on this and am still waiting for the product after 12 business days. An email I received from Buy.com indicated that were dropping APX for handling their shipping because of several complaints and my shipment was made on the last day of their relationship. Unfortunately Buy.com realizing they have a problem has done nothing to help out those customers caught in the middle of their transition."
"A+++ -> I have been a fateful buy.com customer due to their always competitive price. I have even used "price match" when they reduce their prices a few days after your shopping, they did process and credit the difference directly into my credit card. It's the only eshop where returns are completely automated, that's awesome. I WILL KEEP BUYING FROM THEM UNDEFITELY IF THEY JUST KEEP THE WAY THEY ARE."
"I cant believe I ordered another thing from these scam artists. They are masters at buy it 'in stock' only to have it backordered! It has happened with EVERY purchase. They are like the car dealers with 1! car at that discount price...THIS IS THE LAST GO AROUND WITH THEM!"
