"Ordered an Epson Photo R200 and some CD-Rs on Friday, received them Tuesday via APX / USPS on Tuesday.

I was able to track the shipping progress online from Monday on, and the information turned out to be entirely correct. You have to click on various tracking numbers to find the information, but it's just a few clicks away.

The R200 was in stock, $10 off MSRP, and was shipped free... I was unable to find as good a deal elsewhere via Froogle, Pricescan, etc.

I can't speak to their technical support, return policy, etc. because I didn't require any such assistance. I would hesitate to buy a big-ticket or esoteric item from them, but I would hesitate to do so from ANY online source. For inexpensive commodity items, Buy.com has never let me down.

"Good prices, free shipping only on order over 25$, had to stuff an extra item to get free shipping. Extremely slow shipping. Extremely. Still have not received it 2 weeks later, though tracking says it's close. Worse than this is the fact that it wasn't even shipped until 12 days after I ordered it."

"After selecting "standard shipping", as opposed to their free shipping, I expected the package to be shipped via Fedex Ground or UPS Ground as they had done in the past. Instead, they're now using APX, which in turn passes the packages over to USPS. Instead of knowing when I need to be home to receive the package, I have NO idea when the package will arrive. Worse, if for some reason they DO leave the package w/o a signature, it WILL disappear before I get home from work.

When they used Fedex or UPS and shipped from a local warehouse, packages would arrive in one or two days from ordering. Now, I'll be lucky if I see this before the end of next week. I can't even track the thing accurately -- and calling APX gives me a "leave a number and we'll call you back" message.

Bad move, buy.com. I'd expect this from free shipping, but not "standard" shipping. To make sure I'll get it, I'm going to have to reorder this item from a competitor who knows how to use a *real* shipping company, with *real* tracking info. If and when I ever get the one you sent out, it'll be refused.

"I was looking for a desktop keyboard that offered laptop style keys. I found the Logitech Ultra X keyboard and buy.com had the lowest price. It was $39 shipped free, no tax. I waited an extra day to buy and the price dropped to $35.40...very nice. The closest price was $43. So in terms of price, buy.com rocked.

Shipping was another story.
Price grabber lists the shipping as 2-3 days.
Buy.com lists the term "shipped" on their invoice as 1-2 days.
Buy.com says when you order that the free shipping is 7-9 days.
All business days mind i note.
So i was very confused. But saving $8 was rather worth it, considering that the ones priced at $43 came only as the keyboard alone and without the optical mouse which buy.com offered.

I made the purchase Friday Apr. 9th around 12PM EST. Buy.com quickly got my order and by night the status was quickly changed from checking my credit card, to the order sent to warehouse to "shipped."
So i was all excited thinking id get my keyboard by tuesday. Along with the tracking number i thought i was all cool.

Wrong.
The tracking number didnt start working until tuesday at 7:40 PM which is when the company APX (American Package Express i think thats it www.shipapx.com) finally got the package. Buy.com recently changed over the this company for handling shipping.
Since i was getting sick of the tracking number not working I called buy.com about it. A person picked up within 2 minutes or so, very fast. She was nice and explained the whole thing about how SHIPPED means being shipped to APX for them to handle. She then told me to call APX for any further questions since the package was in the hands of APX when i called.
So i called APX and someone answered within short time.
They explained that they have been rather slow getting all the tracking numbers into the system since buy.com just recently changed to them. I asked about when i would see my package. (this was wednesday night). She said that the package would get to the US Post office system by friday april 16, and i wouldnt see it until Wed. April 21 (thats 8 business days total). I was really upset. I thanked the lady and got off.

I checked the status of the package on thursday and it said it got to my local post office. So today, April 16th i called the post office and sure enough they had the package already.

I was all happy since i would pick up the package, which i figured would be small, jump on a train to Philadelphia and be all cool.

Wrong. The package was insanely huge and since the Post Office doesnt have any bags i was forced to go home to bring the package home and forced to catch a later train. The keyboard was in a box with dimensions of:
about 1.75 inches height, 8 inches wide, and 2.5 feet long.
The box the keyboard was shipped in was:
1 ft tall, 2 feet wide, and 2.5 feet long.
It came packaged with a BOATLOAD of that oversized Brown paper one rips off a huge roll. The stuff we used to make huge murals with back in elementary school.

Entirely unacceptable in terms of packaging.

Dont get me wrong here. The keyboard came as planned, everything was in the box and no damage anywhere.

So all in all:
Great prices
Cheapo shipping
No tax
Good customer support from what i experienced
SLOW shipping
Unacceptable shipping packaging.

"*** BUYER BEWARE ***
I read many negative reviews about Buy.com before I made my first purchase (a Samsung ML 1450 Laser Printer) on 3/16/04 but decided to take a chance because they offered the best price (with a $50 mail-in rebate). The fact that I had problems even placing an order on line due to technical problems with their website (due to some absurd reason involving the acceptance of cookies) was a bad omen but since they finally replied to me via email two days later on how to fix the technical problem, I went ahead and placed my order. Well, it's two weeks later and I still haven't received my printer. No email or update about my order--just a useless "Sent to Warehouse" for the status of my order. After a frustrating search for a telephone number (I can't believe they don't have one on their website--how obnoxious), I finally found out their toll free number from people's posts on the web. A Buy.com customer service rep (named Eric) told me he'd contact the warehouse and let me know when he received a reply. Welp, a few days went by with no word from Eric so I called again and spoke to another representative who told me there was no record of my order being researched! Which meant we had to start from scratch. It ticks me off that Buy.com falsely advertised that this item was available in their warehouse when it wasn't and they still can't give me any information as to where we are in the process after two whole weeks. And how come they can only email their warehouses? What the heck is that? I also won't be surprised if my rebate runs out before getting my item the way things are going. I'm going to give them 'til next week and if it's not resolved, then I'm cancelling my order. I've never had such bad customer service before from an e-retailer and I've shopped at many sites (Amazon.com, Drugstore.com, etc.) with speedy delivery and excellent customer service each and every time. I know now that I should trust the majority of what previous buyers say and I know that I will not be buying from Buy.com again. It's amazing this company is still in existence but I predict Buy.com will soon become Bye.com if they keep it up.

"I experienced a really poor example of website operation & customer service at Buy.com. I ordered a cable lock for a presentation projector. During the check-out process, I discovered that they had an old address listed for me, both for billing and shipping. I modified the addresses before checking out. I was tracking the shipment and saw that a delivery attempt had been made but the address didn't exist. Imagine my frustration when I discovered that Buy.com had sent the shipment to my old address. I checked my customer information profile which listed the correct (changed) addresses. However, the detailed order information for my order listed the new address for billing but the old address for shipping. I know I was very careful when I placed the order to verify the correct addresses. No customer service phone numbers are given to contact on the website or in the confirmation email. The only way to get in touch with them is via email which resulted in a a canned message that promised someone getting in touch with me within 2 business days. This happened in the form of another canned email message letting me know there is nothing they can do and instructing me to change my address in my profile! I called UPS to see if I could change the delivery address. This worked.
Through a google search I found other frustrated buy.com customers and one listed a phone number for their customer service: 1-***-***-**** (7am-7pm M-F and 8-12 Sat, MST) I called this number to explain to a manager that there seems to be a problem with the address updating mechanism on their website. His response (after I persisted)was that yes, there were similar incidents but his IT department insisted nothing was wrong. Oh, ok!
I will NEVER order from buy.com again.

"I recently ordered a bunch of s-video cables from buy.com.

On their website they claim that the items would ship within 1 or 2 days... Well, it's been 7 days now and the UPS tracking still only says "Billing information received" - which means the package has not even left their warehouse yet!
Sure enough they've billed me. I even paid 10 bucks extra for fast shipping because time was a critical concern for this order.

Their customer service is horrible. They don't give you any phone numbers, just an unsatisfactory email form.
I wrote them a long time ago and all I got so far were some auto-generated messages, telling me that someone will answer me shortly.

Don't buy there if time is critical for you. Yeah, they may have some good deals, but they hardly have any customer support. Be prepared to have some annoying long-term email-wars if your order should encounter any problems.
