"Never had problems, 6 times ordered from Buy.com before. This time I ordered Maxtor 160GB external hard drive. They had the lowest price and free shipping. The order arrived after 4 days packed well, no issues. I don’t understand why they got low ratings… "
"Buy.com keeps your credit card number and other information in their computers AFTER the sale is complete. I do not allow this. I have tried to get them to respond to my concerns but the idiots do not even read my email before giving me an answer that does not match the question.
Furthermore, I cannot delete my account. IT simply will not let me remove myself from the system. In addition, there is no phone number to call these idiots.

"Sent an email on 2/27/04 to Buy.com asking for clarification on a rebate that was being offered on the product I purchased. The rebate submission HAD to be postmarked by 3/12/04 in order to qualify.
3 days later (3/1/04) I received a response indicating that my question had been escalated to their sales department for further investigation. After a week I sent another email since I did not receive a response. One to two days later I received a follow-up email apologizing and stating that they were still looking into the matter.
It is now 3/11/04 and I had to mail my submission in or risk losing any chance of getting the rebate.
I doubt I will ever see a reply to my email.

"Ordered 3 case fans and a printer (Epson R300) on 3-3-04. Received email confirmation of order and 3-5 that the fans had been shipped with tracking # and printer was "in process". This model has been out of stock at all other web sites including the Epson store. Two hours later received email that printer was no longer available from supplier and that item would be cancelled. Today, 3-8, received the fans in Michigan with their free shipping option. In sum, good service, prompt shipping or notification if out of stock, and good prices. After reading some of the other comments about problems with this vendor I was apprehensive but my experiemce was satisfactory. "

"I ordered a Kodak Digital Camera Model #6490 and a memory card. The memory card was shipped right away. The camera order was on "Backorder" status for about 2 weeks when I decided to cancel it. The order status was changed to "Cancellation Pending." Despite this, Buy.com shipped the camera to me on 1/16/2004. I returned the camera on 1/21/04 ... Buy.com did not issue a credit until 2/11/04 and this was for the camera cost less shipping charges. A subsequent e-mail from me requesting rebate of the shipping charges was answered saying they would rebate them. I have not yet confirmed that I have in fact rec'd the credit to my AMEX card. They told me to "Please note that it may take 10 business days for your bank to apply the credit to your account." I know credits do not take 10 days ... more like 2-3. Promised e-mail confirmations of the credits were never sent. I will update this posting to verify whether or not my account was credited. If buy.com has what you want in stock, my experience was good in these cases. This order cancellation and return of unordered merchandise, however, has been a royal pain in the but. I have not purchased anything since and will remain skeptical until I receive my money back.
UPDATE: I finally rec'd the credit to my account less shipping charges on 2/12/2004. I followed up with an e-mail requesting a refund of S&H. They agreed to credit same.

"BUY.COM WILL VIOLATE YOUR CREDIT RATING
Ordered in mid Feb. My credit expired 2 weeks later. Buy.com sends out order 1 month later and unable to charge credit card. After few e-mails (all went to spam folder on yahoo) they sent my account to collection agency. Have not attempted to contact me via phone (listed) or regular mail (listed there as well).
Now I am spending hours trying to figure out how not let this affect my credit score (800+ currently). This is especially important since we are about to buy house very soon.
For the record - paid collection on the credit report is the same as unpaid collection. And stays there for 7 years. Few of those and your mortgage jumps up and you are not able to get credit card or buy a house.
After all these trouble I would rather not buy anything from Buy.com again and not use item I have received ever. "

Horrible mislabeling at website and NO way to contact a human to fix the problem. Order NEVER arrived, but I was billed. AGAIN could NOT contact Buy.com. After the sale they had no interest in helping and made ZERO effort. Would never buy from again even if they gave stuff away. "Placed my order early on 2/10. The order shipped the same day, but instead of shipping 2 day priority as I paid for (and was billed for), the items shipped Fed Ex ground. This is essentially breach of contract, and a very poor way of doing business, but luckily the price difference was only a dollar or two. Unfortunately, it is now 2/20 and I not only haven't received the item, it still is not found in the Fed Ex database using the tracking link and number provided. I don't think I'll be ordering anything from them in the future."
"Invoice shows the items shipped on 2/09/2004. The trackings numbers still don't register (as of 2/19/2004)with the USPS. No way of knowing what is going on. This is just poor service. If they do show up now, I will promptly return them."
