"Ordered a monitor on Feb 12. On Feb 13, my card was charged and I received notification that it was shipped. Checked my tracking number on fedex and it said that the information only had been provided, and it was scheduled for delivery today, Feb 19. No harm, I thought, they'll send it out monday.
Come monday night, no change. Tuesday, same. I contacted them with my concerns and was told that "it happens sometimes, it doesn't mean it wasn't shipped. If you don't get it by the delivery date, let us know."
So we come to today. I wait all day until fedex stops running, and no monitor. I go in to have them look into it and lo, shipping information has been updated. It was delivered to fedex at 5pm THIS AFTERNOON and will now not be here for another week. Combine that with their rule that there are no RMAs 14 after orders leave their warehouse, and I don't doubt they will try to use the Feb 13 date for that. Hopefully there are no problems, but I'm pleased that my credit card company has good customer protection. I may be needing it. "
"I have now used Buy.com several times, though I got off to a bad start. Initially I purchased a Sony camera case that was not in stock, and showed no signs of getting in stock, so I had to cancel.
Later, they had the best price on an external hard drive, so I ordered it, and a UPS (their price was as good as anywhere else). They arrived very fast.
Most recently, I ordered another of the same drive (it went on sale again) and it was here a few days later. No issues, and the lower price around -- according to what I found on DealMac.com
So no problems with Buy.com. I've now used them several times with no problems."
"I recommend Buy.com as a good alternative to Amazon.com for books and DVDs. I shop around quite a bit and many times Buy.com has the lowest price. Also, I've never had a problem with an order, they usually ship quite quickly and everything has always arrived in good shape. My only problem with Buy.com is that it apparently censors critical reviews on its products. I find this to be a very bad business practice and hope they improve in this area. Otherwise they are great."
"Buy.com sells their customers credit card information to "Shoppers Discount" which will begin charging you a fee on your credit card each month in hopes that you do not notice. The monthly fee can be anywhere from $8 to $12. Do not buy from this website. Their prices are good but their ethics are terrible."
"Buy.com is a FRAUD
Buy.com censors critical reviews about the products it sells. I tried to put a review in for a defective product that was dead on arrival. For some reason it would not post. I tried again. Still did not post. So, I decided to try putting a positive (#5 instead of #1 star rating) voila, the review appeared.
DO NOT TRUST BUY.COM REVIEWS. They are false and misleading and Buy.com actively filters out critical reviews.
Buy.com customer service could care less. BUYER BEWARE. Shop from companies with good customer service even if its a couple dollars more. Buy.com is horrible."
"Purchased a Plenio VXA-3000 7 GPS from Buy.com. Returned it a week later because it was defective. It kept freezing up upon boot up and did not go beyond the startup screen. Followed proper online return procedure with RMA and all. Nevertheless, they gave me only a partial refund and charged me a 15% restocking fee, even though their policy states that defective products will receive full refund without restocking fee. Had to Google to find their customer service phone number. Spoke with a customer rep who said she would put in a request for review/escalation. Two rounds of e-mails later, they still insist that the product was not defective; they obviously didn't test it, or else they would have discovered that it was defective. In my final e-mail to them, I expressed my disbelief that they would be willing to lose a loyal customer over $15 of restocking fee which they stole from me. I will never buy from Buy.com again. There are other more professional, ethical, and customer-friendly e-retailers."
"Ordered a 1TB Neil Poulton designed hard drive from buy.com. Fast shipping...packaged well. Thank you. Would definately consider buying from them again."
"Typical story, GTX280 purchased at low price, same as many others at their site. Hold money for a week then claim error in listing. Very disappointed in their tactics. Oversell an item beyond stock. Will avoid them."
"I ordered a copy of Windows XP. As I installed it, I realize that there was no product key to enter during the install. Looking further, I discovered that this disk should only be installed on a new PC. I've contacted them multiple times via email. The responses I got sounded as thought they did not comprehend the fact that they sent me illegal software that could not be used. This is a terrible company to do business with. "
"I've never had problem with Buy.com until today. I've placed an order of two cases of blank DVDs on January 2, 2009 but I haven't received it until today which is January 12, 2009. It was suppose to get to my house last week. This is ridicules, I will try to use buy.com next time but if this continues. I won't be purchasing from Buy.com anymore."
"I can't believe buy.com has such a bad rating. In December I ordered a pair of Xbox 360 Ear Force X3 Wireless Headphones for my fiancee. On other websites they wanted more than $150 but on buy.com I got them for $88 and with s&h they were $95. The order was processed that same day and came in a matter of two days. I really enjoyed my experience with them and would definitely buy from them again with no hesitation.

"My order was shipped the same day it was placed and I had my Robo-Reptile within 5 days of placing the order. I would definitely recommend Buy.com to any one looking for any item. They carry tons of stuff and many include free shipping. I was very happy with my transaction and will use them again."
"I bought a bunch of refurbed sansa mp3 players and they alll worked great. Fantastic prices too. ten dollars for the 1 gb and 17 dollars for the 2 gb ones"
"Purchased a rechargeable wireless laptop mouse that was advertised as having 5 buttons. The price was good at $8.99 and the order came within a reasonable amount of time. However, the mouse was actually a 3-button mouse, not a 5-button one as advertised. I tried to contact their customer service about a return and advised that I would not have purchased this mouse if it had been advertised accurately. I demanded that they pay return shipping, given that the problem lay with their inaccurate webpage listing and I should not have to lose money as a result of their false advertising. The response was a form e-mail stating that they would consider my return if I had kept all of the original packaging. The e-mail then provided me with two links, one to click if the response had answered all of my questions, one to click if the response had not answered my questions. Clicking either of those two options lead to a dead link that stated:
"We're sorry.
You have reached a page that is no longer current. If you arrived here via an expired link in an email, and you'd like to contact Customer Service, please visit: https://secure.buy.com/corp/support/email/default.asp?what=anytimehelp"
The original e-mail response from buy.com indicated that it was from a non-respondable e-mail account - that no one would ever respond if the buy.com customer/recipient of the e-mail clicked "reply."
If you click the customer service link in the dead link, it takes you back to the same "contact customer service" link that I originally clicked to inquire about the return.
So I contacted buy.com customer support again and advised they had been non-responsive in my first inquiry and asked that they address my actual inquiry, not send me a form e-mail that contains dead links. Guess what they did? They sent a form e-mail, not just any form e-mail, but the exact same one I already received with the exact same dead links. In retrospect, I had a problem with a buy.com order a few years ago and I could not get in touch with customer service that time, also.
So, how could this be any worse? They have false advertising and their customer service is designed so that one cannot do a return because there is no way to communicate with a live human being to make the arrangements for an RMA - their entire process is designed to be a circular morass to keep your money regardless of what they have done or whether you legitimately deserve a refund. This is an awful company.

"I ordered a Trust Wireless Laser Deskset on 23 Jan. The site said it was in stock and usually shipped in 1-2 days. Status changed to In Shipping Process (meaning I can't cancel). A day later in my Order History it's changed to "Usually shipped in 2-3 days". It's like that until Feb 03, status changed to Cancelled (Unfortunately, this item was cancelled. We are out of stock and have no ETA for when we will get additional stock). There's no way a computer can spend 6 business days to find out it's out of stock. They must have been running their business manually, or they have a cheat in their system that tells us customers it's in stock when IT'S NOT. Their price is good, but I can't handle the idea of not being sure if my order would arrive (even when it's confirmed)."
