"I was attempting to purchase the following item - please note that I became aware of this deal through the reseller ratings deal email that is sent out daily.
Western Digital Caviar GP WD6400AACS Hard Drive - 640GB - 7200rpm - Serial ATA/300 - Serial ATA - Internal
I was using paypal, in order to get the $15 rebate off any purchase of $75 or more.
The order went through, money was taken out, and then buy.com cancelled the order, and refunded the money stating that:
the order... " has been cancelled because you have a PayPal UnVerified Account and you are shipping to a PayPal Unconfirmed Address."
This is not correct. While my PayPal account is unverified (I have not given them my bank account information), my address is in fact verified. I checked my PayPal information, ensured that it was correct, and that my address was verified, and ordered again, assuming it was a glitch. I also sent an email to their customer service, telling them about the problem. Same result - accepted order, took my money, then cancelled and refunded money for the same wrong reason.
I sent another email to customer service explaining again that their process was broken, that I have used PayPal in this manner with no problems for over 6 years, and that I wanted an written reason why they were rejecting my order. I've yet to receive a response.
I will not order from them again. Reseller ratings: if you are willing to take a suggestion? The buy.com rating here is around 3. To keep your own reputation intact, may I suggest that you no longer list any deals from buy.com? Or if you do, include their site rating in the email where you list the deal, so peope know instantly the probability of their deal working as advertised."
"These guys were absolutely horrible.
1 - Site claimed item was in stock, but it was not - BACKORDERED!
2 - Took them 5 DAYS to respond to my support request e-mail.
3 - I could not find any way to cancel the order on the site.
4 - Their support line sent me instructions for canceling the order that were completely incorrect, referring to pages and links that didn't even exist (prob from a previous version of the site).
5 - They sent me an e-mail saying it was backordered, it still says 'In Stock' on their site several days later, my order status on their site says 'processing' - very confusing."
"Placed an order from this merchant on their eBay store. Paid for 2 day shipping. When I didn't receive the item, I found out Buy.com had sent the wrong address to FedEx (it was correct on my Buy.com invoice). I called FedEx and they said the sender (Buy.com) had to change the address; the receiver couldn't.
Found out Buy.com's phone customer support was a voice mailbox that said to leave my name and number and they would call back within a day. Needless to say, they never called back. I sent a message to their "customer service" email address, and directly through eBay saying it was urgent that I get the package today (which is why I ordered 2-day shipping) and that they needed to call FedEx to correct the address. No response from Buy.com for the entire day. No response from for most of the next day. Finally got a scripted email that said I had given them the wrong address and as a consequence the package couldn't be delivered. They didn't even read my very clearly worded email that said I had provided the right address and they had sent the wrong address to FedEx. I responded as such, and didn't receive a response for 3 more days. Finally, I drove half an hour to pick up the package myself almost a week later, having paid extra for 2-day shipping.
I created an account on this site just so I could post this review and warn others of the issues you'll have with Buy.com. But it looks like about 2,000 people beat me to it."
"Bottom line is that everything worked out okay. But there was a fair amount of angst between ordering and the end.
Placed an order for a $1,750 Panasonic Plasma TV. The ordering went okay until I received two emails from PayPal, each telling me that they had made a payment to Buy.com. I was billed twice for one TV!
I immediately sent an email to the customer service email address and got an automated reply that it would be two days before they could respond to my message. It also gave the option to ask someone to telephone me if it was urgent.
To me, it was urgent to have an extra $1,750 on my credit card at this time of the year, so I sent another message briefly explaining my dilemma and asking for someone to call me. No reply except the standard automated reply.
I repeated the message an additional 3 times, each with the automated reply.
Out of desperation, I started looking for a telephone number for customer service. If it is posted ANYWHERE on their webpages, I could not find it. So, I used directory service and located a phone number.
Called it and got a representative to talk to. The individual seemed interested and said that he would send my problem to Accounting and that someone would call me within 2 days.
Waited 2 days; no call from anyone. Called again on the 3rd day. The lady I talked with was polite but offered no help other than to keep waiting for Accounting to call me. I asked for a supervisor; at first she didn't want to send me to one. I insisted and talked with a supervisor who said he would escalate my issue to Accounting and someone would call me within 2 days. (everything seems to operate on 2 days)
By now, I had received a notice that the TV was shipped and that the shipper would be in touch with me within a couple days. I still had two $1,750 charges on my credit card.
Finally, over a week from noting the extra charge, I received notice that they understood my issue, but could find no evidence of an extra payment by PayPal.
At long last, I received an email from PayPal notifying me that my account had been refunded $1,750 from Buy.com.
So, all ended up okay, but with more than a week of broken promises and high anxiety over the double charge on my credit card.
Would I use Buy.com again? Definitely not! Saving a few dollars is not worth all of the angst caused by this firm."
"
My orders got confirmed, then billed, then cancelled, and finally refunded.
The email I got was a generic order cancellation email (without stating any reason for the cancellation).
After trying to call them a lot of times (I mean at least 4 times yesterday waiting for about 30 minutes until the system disconnects you) I gave up.
This morning I finally managed to get my call answered and they told me that the orders got cancelled because of the IP address that I used.
I'm currently in Mexico and that's why my orders got cancelled. Perfectly fine orders, with my own US credit cards and paypal confirmed addresses, shipping to confirmed addresses on file as well. I spend 95% of the time outside the US and have never had this problem before with any etailer.
Bottom line is buy.com will REJECT WITHOUT ANY WARNING all orders placed overseas but not without first charging you for the order.
Beware!! Buy.Com will no longer accept any order from you while you are traveling outside the US.

"I ordered a pair of JVC HA-RX900 headphones. I received an order confirmation immediately and they shipped out within 24 hours despite having run out of stock right after I ordered them. Smooth transaction, would order again."
"I bought a Sansa Fuse 4gb MP3 player from them on Black Friday for 49.99. Many other retailers were offering the attractive 49.99 price as well. However I ordered from buy.com taking advantage of their $30 off credit card offer....big mistake.
A week later I still did not get a tracking number so I sent an e-mail asking where my order was. They said the item is out of stock and there was no way to know when it will be in stock again.
Yet there website shows other colors of the same item in stock at higher prices and the same exact item for higher prices than what I paid. Although this black color of the player keeps appearing at various prices and then shows out of stock. I guess they keep posting new listings and selling out.
I have sent them several e-mails asking them to make good on my transaction. I even asked for them to just ship me the same item in a different color which consistently shows as in stock on their website. However they do not answer my request but keep saying the item is out of stock. Its like talking to a brick wall.
I finally tired calling 1 ***-***-**** a few times the first coupe of tries were not a success - and then last Monday after checking their website and seeing my item in stock I called again and was told that just today they got it in stock. The Customer service person said she needed to forward a request ot another department to get this order going. Two days later I get another response saying that the item is out of stock. ....What a bunch of Monkeys.
My best guess is that they are able to fill orders at higher prices than what I ordered so they don't bother filling my order. I have been monitoring this item on their website and keep seeing it available briefly at various prices above what they "sold" it to me for.
I just did not expect such monkey business. The bottom line is they are doing a lot of false advertising and are not an honest company - avoid them.
What good is a decent price if they never deliver the product except when it is convenient for them. If the price is not favorable for them they just leave your order hanging in limbo forever until you finally decide to cancel it and then they are off the hook.
I am angry because over the last three weeks the same thing I bought for 49.99 has been available between 56-65 dollars. Still a reasonable price, but I never get my order filled.
I bet after all the holiday season is over and demand drops and they no longer sell them at the higher prices suddenly my order will look good to them and it will get filled.
I will update this review when this happens or if it happens. This experience has made me hate this company however and I will never choose them if there is comparable price elsehwere - I'd rather pay more elsewhere like newegg and get what I paid for.
Buy.com has terrible customer service because they don't care about their customer's only themselves. "
"I ordered a home theater system for my husband from buy.com on December 5, and told it was in stock. On December 15, 10 days before Christmas, I received an email that my order was cancelled because the item was not in fact, in stock. Right before Christmas leaves me scrambling. They didn't even send a coupon off my next purchase. Unacceptable."
"Buy.com processing/shipping is extremely slow. "
"Buy.com is terrible!! Dont buy from them. Let me repeat, you have been warned! Don't buy from buy.com I'm sad that Google works with them. Ordered my items, paid for them, buy.com took my money and did not fill my purchase. I have contacted American Express to cancel my payment. SHAME ON YOU BUY.COM!! "
"I bought a wireless adpter at buy.com and I am so upset that they were selling a product with fake rebate. The stupid company ZyXEL should give me back a rebate and I have never seen it. I sent 4 emails to this crap company (Zyxel) and never received a return.
So I wrote a review concerning to my problem at Buy.com review and Buy.com has not published it.
So, I tried to contact Buy.com to receive a explanation why they reject my review about a creep product qith fake rebate and they ve never return me too.
We have to avoid stores without respect for the custumers. This kind of store must to die. There are sevral good stores online with competitive prices and I dont need to buy things at such crap store. Buy.com will never see my money again. I can pay twice in anywhere, but not with them. If every one does that we will select honest and respectful stores to have a chance to deal with us. We must have to understand that the company is nothing without us. Say no to the garbage called Buy.com online store!"
"2 1/2 weeks ago I ordered a JVC MX-KC58 stereo system as my son's only Christmas present. I paid immediately via paypal and received a confirmation page on the Buy.com website. It contained my order number, confirmation that I had paid, and an estimated delivery time of 2-3 weeks. I sat here for 2 weeks waiting, unalarmed because I already knew it would take a few weeks for the stereo to arrive. Then I just happened to look at my paypal about something else and discovered Buy.com had taken the payment from my bank account, then refunded it back to my paypal account! There was no phone number on the Buy.com website, so I emailed customer support with all the details including my order number and they basically just said here's a link to check on your order. I checked the order number and the site said order does not exist. I emailed customer support a 2nd time and 3 days later they finally replied with another automated email giving yet another link to check on the order (which they could have done themselves as I had provided the order number, etc). This time when I put in my info it said the order had been cancelled, but gave no explanation why. So here I am 2 1/2 weeks after ordering and they never had the decency to contact me and tell me they were cancelling my order! They had my phone number, email address and street address but made no attempt to contact me. Now the stereo is sold out everywhere and I will have to tell my child that his Christmas present will have to come from some other place when I can find it in stock. I asked the company what they intended to do to rectify this situation and they did not respond. I still do not know why they cancelled the order and still have not received any type of personal response from any of my emails, only those automated responses that neither answered my questions nor solved the problem. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Buyer beware!!! Merry Christmas from buy.com...."
"Same story as many others. Item listed as available but not. Responses from CS web site included bogus "cancellation instructions" that couldn't be carried out or didn't exist. They can provide no delivery date but cancellations must be "approved". Complete scam. Never again."
"Until you've been burned by these crooks, you can't really understand why so many people hate them so much. I made the mistake of falling for their low price ad for a digital picture frame and found out the hard way. In retrospect, I should have known better. You need a reason? Here's a few:
1. They don't list a customer service (if you can call it that in their case) phone number on their website - I found out later it's 1-***-***-****, but that only gets you to speak to a CSR who will tell you anything you need to hear so you'll hang up and they can move on to the next sucker on hold.
2. You only have *15 minutes* to cancel an order, after that you'll have to deal with their customer service system from hell.
3. They apparently are a drop ship outfit and don't have any inventory - not that that's a bad thing (Amazon.com is built on the same model), but their supplier inventory tracking is probably the worst in the business and they routinely oversell quantities. This often leads to the next problem:
4. For popular items (and most are, since we're often lured in by prices too good to be true), customers are held hostage with orders in the "Processing" stage for prolonged periods while they look around for suppliers to fill in committed orders. All the while, you get no communication, no reason why your order hasn't shipped, no nothing.
5. So you email their customer service and get form letters in back in return, you call them and their CSRs lie to you, and you still have no way of knowing if or when your order will ship.
In this tough retail environment, there is no reason why crooks like this should stay in business. I personally don't know if I'll ever get my order and I don't know if I can successfully cancel it without getting my credit card company or lawyers involved, but if I can convince just one person to NEVER ever shop at Buy.com, it will help make it a better world for all of us (unless you actually like to throw away your hard earned money and be treated like dirt for your trouble)."
"I placed an order for an electronic item, it showed as processing on their web site for 6 days, so I sent them a message and asked if there was a problem. I got no response back but the next day it showed "canceled". No explanation and absolutely no communication. I opened a dispute in Pay Pal and did receive my money back the next day. Very poor customer service and I am still wondering why they canceled my purchase."
