"BEWARE "2ND DAY EXPRESS SHIPPING" a joke They charge $5.49 extra BUT...........it took them till the 31st (3 business day later ) just to get the order ready for shipping. Now add another 3 business days for Fedex to hopefully deliver and you've got 6 business day elapsed. Amazon would have delivered it much quicker without even charging. BEWARE FOLKS. I should have read their rating before shopping there."

"I made a $117.95 USD purchase off their ebay store buy.com last month (nov 28th. 2008) and frankly, buy.com is FRAUDULENT with NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT and they will FIGHT YOUR PAYPAL DISPUTE with no shame.

I purchased two Xbox Live Messenger Packs under one invoice with buy it now and I only received one in a small box barely even capable of fitting one Xbox live Messenger Pack. The invoice clearly stated two Xbox Live Messenger Packs but only one was packaged and shipped.

I tried to contact buy.com MANY times and WASTED HOURS trying to get support on my order. After over a week of emails with useless replies stating "Based on the information provided, we are unable to locate your order. ", I was left with no choice but to file a paypal dispute (Dec 10 2008).

EVEN AFTER FILING A PAYPAL DISPUTE, I COULD NOT GET ANY CUSTOMER SUPPORT OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE ORDER PROBLEM. Since I could not get a response from the seller even after 2 weeks, I was given no choice but to escalate the paypal dispute (Dec 23 2008) since they CLEARLY IGNORE THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Now I have to wait until Jan. 27, 2009 for paypal to review my case thanks to buy.com:

Hmm. SO AFTER 4 WEEKS OF IGNORING ME, THEY DECIDE TO RESPOND BY SUBMITTING AN "EXPLANATION" TO PAYPAL?



All in all, the lesson learned is DO NOT DEAL WITH BUY.COM. They SCAM their customers and DON'T SHIP THE ITEMS THAT ARE PAID FOR.

"I ordered Sound Blaster sound cards from Buy.com. Site didn't state if the cards were PCI or PCIe. I assumed they were PCIe and assumed wrong. Better product descriptions guys!!! Now I have to return the cards and that's not exactly an easy task with Buy.com.

Also ordered two Logitech mice, among other things, from them and paid for two day shipping. They didn't ship the mice until two days later. So I got everything but the mice on one day and then got the mice days later. :(

UPDATE: I returned the two Sound Blaster cards and was charged a restocking fee. When asked why, they said because they were open. BS! They were never opened! Communication is HORRIBLE! There's no published phone number and you can't reply to emails. You can only send new emails through their web form. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE company to deal with.

"I have been ordering from Buy.com for many years and normally have no trouble at all but lately it's been horrible. I will think twice about ordering from them in the future because this is the second time I have received a product that isn't exactly what was displayed on the website. I ordered a Saitek Rumble Force gamepad and it says that it is wireless, but when I received the product it clearely has a long wire that is used to connect to the PC. I wrote them and it's been over 10 days! I did get the e-mail that Customer Support has received my e-mail and I should wait a couple of hours up to 10 hours, but maybe up to two business days, but like I said it's now been 10 days. I sent another e-mail today and will update the status on ResellerRatings.com when I (if I) hear back from them. My message for Buy.com and new CEO Neel Grover is to change your new business practices because they suck and I won't shop a website where they don't take the time to verify what is written about the product. Displaying something incorrectly on the website is unethical, but doing it over and over again is illegal and Buy.com should be punished for it."

"Buy.com is a great online store. They have a great selection, fast order processing and lot's of free shipping specials. Their pricing is great and I have purchased an item that I hadn't intended to buy at times just because of the combination of free shipping, Buy.com's pricing and manufacturer's rebate!"

" Very poor customer service. I used to order from Buy.com 2 years ago and had good experiences so I thought I would give it a try recently. I am shopping for a new laptop but to check their service levels I started with a small purchase (16GB USB Flash Drive). I completed the transaction, the purchase went through my paypal account was charged and all seemed good. Then later I received an email from buy.com saying they had cancelled my order as my paypal account was unverified? I use my paypal all the time and have never had an order canceled like this from any other company. I sent an email to their customer service and never got a response. From now on I will choose Amazon.com over buy.com, even if their prices are 10-20% more, its worth it to know I will get good customer service and quick resolution to issues. "

"Ordered a 9800GT through the buy.com marketplace from BeachAudio. Realized after I bought it that it was the 128-bit model, instead of the 256-bit (my fault, it was clearly listed in the title). I submitted the order cancellation request shortly after the order, and within an hour I had cancellation confirmation emails from both buy.com and BeachAudio.

"I ordered an 8GB Sansa Fuze MP3 player on 12/2/08. It was on sale for $69.99 with free shipping. Originally, I ordered one, it showed it in stock, and I selected 2-day shipping.

Later that night I decided to order another one, same thing, same shipping. But it showed it as "in stock soon, usually ships in 1-2 weeks". I decided to place the order anyway, since I apparently had one coming soon and could wait for the 2nd one.

The next day I decided to cancel my 2nd order. So, I was expecting my 1st order soon, since it was shown as "in stock" at the time, and I had 2-day shipping.

After a boatload of emails back and forth with Buy.com, I found out that they didn't have it in stock and were "working hard to fill the orders". They also wouldn't give me any sort of discount for the trouble, claiming that since it's the holidays they were just swamped, or some other kind of generic BS. I didn't feel like dealing with them anymore, but I could wait a bit longer for the order to arrive so I didn't cancel.

On ~December 18, I check the status on Buy.com, and it clearly says "in the shipping process". So, let me ask you, doesn't that imply that the order is 1) in stock, and 2) at least being prepared to be shipped out? Apparently at TortureYourSelfByBuyingThingsAtBuy.com, that's not the case. For some reason they think "out of stock" qualifies as being "in the shipping process". So at this point, I'm flat out being lied to about the status of my order, and I doubted that I'd have it by the holidays.

I sent an email to them, furious at this point, asking what the hell is going on. As of December 26, I still have not received a response. On December 21, I receive an email saying my order has been shipped. At this point, I disregard it, because I don't believe anything this company is telling me anymore.

But, on December 24 at about 2pm I did receive my order. This was literally about 15 minutes before I left to celebrate Christmas at a relative's place.

So yeah, I ended up receiving my order. But their "customer service" (a.k.a. bunch of monkeys playing with themselves) were no help whatsoever, I was lied to about my order repeatedly, and I haven't received responses from them on some of the emails I sent.

I hadn't ordered from them for a few years because I was fed up with them over previous headache-causing orders, and I decided I might as well give it a shot and see what happened. Clearly, that was a grave mistake, and it's one I won't be making again. Buy.com sucks, I'm done dealing with them.

"VERY BAD EXPERIENCE: I Never received the product I ordered. Buy.com advertised the NAS at a very reduced price. The item was listed as "in stock" and "shipping." I ordered and paid for the item, but then after a week, they sent me an email stating that they could no longer get the product from their supplier and my order had been cancelled. Funny thing, the exact product is STILL for sale on their website at a much higher price. They are not only selling, but it is shipping - the very same product that they claimed they couldn't sell me at the advertised rate because they couldn't get it from their supplier.

Seems that they operate a bait and switch type of operation where they advertise very cut-rate products to get you to the store and they hope that you will order other regularly-priced items. They conveniently cancel all of the reduced-rate orders, but continue selling those items at a higher price.
Very shady.

The worst thing is, I could have purchased it at Amazon in the meantime, but was waiting. Now the sale is over at Amazon too.

Buy.com has very unethical business practices which include outright lying: WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OPERATION AGAIN.

"Like everyone else around here, I have the same issue with them. I won an auction through ebay and paid through paypal. The next day, I was emailed saying it was cancelled because I was unverified. A week later, I called their customer service and they said the "Computer Store" will need to handle the refund. I called them (after a 30 minute wait) and they said I will be refunded shortly.

Two weeks later, I contacted them again. No answer. I filed a claim on Paypal and even that didn't do anything. It's almost a month now and I still have not been refunded. In 2 days, Paypal will look more into this and hopefully give my money back.

I do NOT recommend this store to anyone no matter how good their deals are.

"Be careful if you buy from Buy.com. I ordered an HP 1600 printer that normally comes with toner and the ad clearly stated toner included. When it arrived it did not have toner. To make it worse it was from a marketplace seller then directly with Buy.com

In the end they did finally issue a refund but they make you wait 30 days to file and it is a hassle.

"I ordered a Nextar N8-101 digital photo frame for $49.99 that was advertised to have remote control, audio player, video player and internal memory, it was shown as in stock and billed to my credit card through PayPal. Buy.com sent me a Photoblitz PF8e photo frame that has no remote control capability, no audio capability and no internal memory and retails for alot less money, so now it requires the memory card be left in to view photos and cannot play background music video and I have something that is a lot cheaper product. I contacted their so called customer service and asked them to exchange the Photoblitz that I did not order and to send me the Nextar N8-101 that I ordered and payed for, they informed me that the sale was over and the price had gone up so they would not make the exchange but they would give me a RMA# and I could send it back for a refund (no way will I trust them to refund my money after they pulled this bait & switch on me). I have been a loyal customer and to think they would do this is pretty rotten. I have talked to them on the phone 3 times and emailed tham 3 times and get no where. Wow what a way to treat a customer. "
