"It was fun shopping at buy.com. I was searching for better deals for MP3 players. Only buy.com has a large variety of players and varied prices. I can get anything from 10$-1000$. I liked the quality as well as their shipping methods. It gives me various options. This is the largest website I have seen.

"Placed this order and made mistake of not checking free shipping (it's not the default pick like it should be). I tried to cancel the order, but it was not in the Buy.com My Orders transaction history. Three weeks later, and it is still not listed. I was told this happens when you use PayPal on the Buy.Com site instead of a credit card.
I immediately sent two emails to Buy.com to cancel the order (within 5 and 15 minutes).
I then called Buy.com Customer Service by phone. The CS Rep said he would credit my account the $4.99 shipping, but it would take 7-10 days to post. Three weeks later and no credit. Sent another note to Buy.com and now they won't honor the credit. They said it's my fault I made a mistake, eventhough I pointed out their system did not allow me access to cancel the order and also I sent two immediate emails to them for help.
They will not honor the credit granted by their CS telehone support team.
I will not buy from them ever again. Their Customer Service is dishonest and useless."
"This is my first purchase from buy.com, and it may be my last. I don't think I'll deal with a company that requests a second Payment "Verification" and charge them, but then refund the amount back. I have two charges of which one has been refunded but yet my order has been canceled. I see the reseller ratings for buy.com reflects more than just a few people's thoughts.
I'll keep buying from Newegg.com they ship sameday and have the best prices! Newegg FTW!!"

"In complete agreement with the other negative reviews and I mean all of them. I am not going to go into detail at the moment but I will update later. My circumstance has been repeated many times in the reviews here. My problem requires I call the corporate office.
My advice for now? Trust Resellerratings.com and check them for up to date reviews. This is not the Buy.com from year 2000 when I last purchased from them. I have lost $282.00 so far.
Edit: Cancelled the order within 24 hours while it was not shipped and the cancel option was available by way of a cancel button. Store policy is only 15 minutes to cancel, O.K. The cancel button became "Cancelation Requested" ..fine. This was the status for a day so I finaly located a phone number for them (they do not list one) from a "rip-off-report". They told me they will let me know if the order can be cancelled in 7 to 10 business days. Hahaha It was shipped on the seventh business day and THEN charged to my account. I called FedEx and refused the shipment before it was actually shipped. I did this with a preshipment confirmation. I called and again asked them not to ship it and they saw it was already refused but shipped it anyway. This package literaly came to my house and did a 180 and was sent back. I am in disputes about this order with my bank. My bank issued a temporary refund until the refund is permanent. Saving grace is that Buy.com uses FedEx and they do have tracking confirmation with refused orders - UPS (to my knowledge) does not.
Buy.com lists no phone number to cancel orders and gives you 15 minutes to cancel! Not enough time, unreasonable. That is thier policy though, so... They do not like to refund or RMA and there are dozens who have had problems with refused shipment refunds and RMA's ...rational people. Do not be surprised if your RA gets denied a refund or your refused shipment is then sent back to you and the 14 days return policy is voided by the time you re-return it. They will game you.
Garbage company since 2001. Be up to date and check resellerratings and others.
UPDATE: Today, 10/28/08, Buy.com sent me an RMA number I did not request. I have FedEx evidence (with signature) that Buy.com received back the refused shipment on 10/14/08. They made a mistake using FedEx when trying to scam me. I have been in dispute with the charge since Oct. 7.

"I purchased a Gateway laptop after mine was stolen, and was informed that the item would ship from their warehouse within 2 to 3 days, and take 7 to 9 business days to ship. (I used their budget shipping.)
After 5 business days, I emailed Buy.com, concerned that it did not say that my item was shipped on my Order tracker. I received an email saying they escalated my case. On the 7th business day, I emailed again (their customer service number is hard to attain because they never list it as customer service, only as sales) and was informed that my item would not even ship until later this week, and then it would be an additional 7 to 9 days.
As I am in graduate school and never would have bought this computer if I had known it was going to take this long, I found their customer service number and called. While I was not kept on hold too long, their customer service assistant (who never gave me her name) cut me off several times, and informed me that she was not updated to the ship date and therefore couldn't help me.
I asked to be transferred to someone else, and she transferred me to her supervisor, Michael. At this point, he confirms that they can't guarantee my ship date, but that it SHOULD be later this week. However, when I asked for them to upgrade my shipping to overnight, he said they were unable to do so after an order had been placed.
I asked if there was anything they could do for me, and he flat out said, "I'm afraid not." I asked if there was some sort of monetary compensation they could give me for the horrendous inconvenience (I won't get the computer until probably a month after I ordered it, rather than what should have been, at most, two weeks) and he said he would submit a claim for me, but he doubted that it would come to anything.
Their customer service is horrendous, and I searched everywhere for some explanation that this would take forever to ship, and found none. I'm disgusted and disappointed, and I am stuck because I can't do my graduate schoolwork at the office, but have no computer at home.
I will never use Buy.com again, and I hope this convinces someone else not to use them either."

Trust me, just look at their resller rating! I recently placed and order from them calling for a computer with wireless mouse and keyboard. They sent a wired mouse and keybord. Now I wouldnt mind if they corrected it but they absolutely will not.. They told me my only option was to send it back they do not offer a wired keybord and mouse. They couldnt even offer a reason Why!! I told them if they do not make the order correct with what they sold me I will NEVER buy from them again and they do not care!
Dont make the same mistake, especially if OVERSEAS CUSTOMER SERVICE (more like people answering phones who could care less) frustrate you!!!!!!"

"I ordered Hava Wireless HD (the competitor of Slingbox) few days after 4th of July. They sent me a wrong product. To notify them, I tried to find a phone number, some contact for customer service, no way. I followed instructions on the web site, finally got an RMA number (by the way the product was open) shipped it back, asked them to rectify this and ship me the product I purchased. Guess what ? They shipped me the same wrong product, and even the same package !!! Can you believe it ? Of course I returned it again, I was familiar with the process from their first mess up. But at the second time I wanted them to return my money, cause they keep on sending something else, it's 24th of September, I'm still trying to get my money back ( $160). I called citibank as well, to reverse that transaction, nothing happened in last 10 days, I got tired of dealing with these stupids. Be aware, DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM BUY.COM !! "
"I ordered a refurbished HP Pavillion M9252P computer on 8/16. The computer shipped on 8/22, and the credit card was billed. When I received the computer, there was significant physical damage to the case and DVD drive, but the packing box had no damage. I believe whoever is refurbishing these for HP (third party?) just repacked the damaged computer in a new "refurbish" box without any attempt to fix the problems. I do not blame Buy.com for this as the computer was in a sealed HP box. Buy.com makes it very difficult to contact anyone there, but after a number of emails, I got an RMA number. The computer was returned and after 7 business days, they finally decided to ship a replacement. The order went to "warehouse" status on 9/16 where it remained. I sent additional emails asking for someone to call me, and magically it shipped on 9/23 5 weeks after they billed my card $611 for the purchase. I have not received the replacement computer yet, and can only hope that it arrives in working condition. Their customer service is very poor, and I am being kind.
I would not consider buying anything electronic or valued at more than a few dollars from this vendor."
"Telling everyone I know NEVER to buy from this company!!! Wish I came here first, because apparently I am not the only dissatisfied customer. Ordered an item. It was delivered to my home, where I work. I signed for it, but did not open it - as I was planning on getting to it after work. While reading e-mail, noticed the company sent me one stating that the product description was NOT ACCURATE (days after my order had been placed). I asked them to credit me the difference, but after taking 5 days to consider, they decided I just needed to return the item. OK, fine. But I had to take the heavy box to a UPS location myself -- carry it, transport it, spend MY TIME -- all for THEIR MISTAKE. They would not pay to have UPS pick up the box where they had delivered it. Said it was policy. This is NOT STATED anywhere on their website. AND they want you to wait until they receive the product back at their warehouse and process it through to give you your money back which might be in the form of a check even though initial payment was by credit card -- so we're talking a month or so here to get your money back. This company deserves to go bankrupt and put customers out of their misery. "
"I originally placed my order on buy.com on September 8th for a 24 inch LCD BenQ Monitor under the order number 42097657 and was told it would ship in 1 to 2 business days. First, there was a verification problem they sent me an email about. I immediately corrected this issue and called to confirm that it was corrected. Unfortunately, I was told that it would need to sit in the verification process for another 2 days. After a few days, I sent an email to ensure the product was sent out. I was told it was not, and that buy.com did not know when it was shipped out and that I should contact my seller. They left no information regarding the seller or any contact information. After a few phone calls I was finally put in contact with the seller. Since the product was not to be shipped until the 19th, I asked if it would be possible to change the shipping address. They changed it for me. A few days later, I was notified that my order was automatically cancelled due to the change, without being previously made aware of this policy. I found this to be unfair and attempted to replace the order. Over the phone, I replaced the order on September 15th, well after the order was supposed to be shipped and was garunteed to receive it in no more than 11 days. Today, I emailed Buy.com again to check on the status. I was informed that they had no way of knowing when I might receive my product and that I may "request" a cancellation. I of course do not want a cancellation, I just want my product. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare and I will never use this website again. I just hope I actually get what I ordered eventually so that it can be over. UPDATE - I just checked for this product on their website. They are stating that this product ships within 1 to 2 business days at the same time they are telling me it is back ordered. That does not seem like an ethical or legal business practice to me. "
"They have the worst customer service! EVER. They sent an email saying that the item I bought wasn't the item I was sent and all I could do before I got the item. It had already arrived. Their solution, instead of sending the right item or a suitable replacement was to issue and RMA, as per their SOP, the guy said. Then I would have to take the item to the shipping company. The item was delivered to my home, they need to come get it. Wish I'd seen this site before I bought from that crappy company. Oh, they kept blaming their suppliers for the problem.
