"Ordered a recertified 1tb Fantom Titanium external hard drive from Buy.com. A ~$150 transaction. Cheap, but now I know why! I thought they were reputable buyer and did not open the package for a few weeks. After two uses, the hard drive died taking my data with it. I tried to get a replacement (should have really asked for a refund) 24 days after the product was shipped to me. They have cited a 14 day return policy and refuse to doing anything. I have had several friends in the tech world with similar experiences with them. A 14 day return from the shipping date means that you have about a week to use the product - insufficient when it comes to hard drives and most electronics. Why have such a short return period - so you can sell people crap items at slightly cheaper prices and hold no liability for the quality of the item?? Not a reputable business practice! This is not a company concerned about customer satisfaction and business legitimacy. Their marketing emails are flashy and I am sucker for falling for it!"
"I will think long and hard before I ever try and place an order with buy.com again. I have purchased from them in the past with good results, but it appears things have gone down hill recently, and I had not read up on it before hand. I placed an order for a laptop, it sat in a pending status for over a week. I emailed their CS department because I could not find an 800# listed on their website and received no response. A couple days later, I got a call from a CS agent to confirm my order. I confirmed the order, and she said it would ship out the next day. I waited another week and never received the laptop. I then looked at my account, and it was now cancelled. No cancellation email was sent to me. Poor way to run a company."
"Banner ad promotes $10 Google Checkout promotion that expired 6/30 and it's 8/16!!!! You don't find out about promotion expiration until you are signed up and have ordered. Also the usual attempts at adding shipping charges by default placement on order.
Update: fast shipping, product as advertised. No other problems."
"Purchased a 320 GB WD MyPassport drive from here. It was on sale and included free shipping. The item was delivered on time and as promised. I have made several purchases from this retailer with no problems at all and would recommend them to my friends. Good value and free shipping from a trusty online retailer makes my purchases a real value compared to brick and mortar stores. I think folks are too quick to write a bad review when something doesn't go right, and fail to take the time to write a good review when things are delivered as advertised. (which happens more times than not, in my opinion)"
"I'm pretty happy. Ordered 2x4GB flash drives for $24, shippings was free, and they were in stock. The order shipped the next day, even though I ordered around 8PM. It was a good deal and I had no problems whatsoever. Paying was a breeze, too. I also had not read the store's reviews before I ordered, or I probably would not have bought from them. "The first time I ordered a software package I was advised it was in-stock and would ship in 1-2 business days. 8 days later I received an e-mail advising me the product was no longer available.
Like an idiot, I tried their website again and found the same software with a different license type. Again I ordered, again I was advised the order would be shipped in 1-2 business days. Buy.con says it will e-mail you immediately of there is a problem with your order. I tried the 'Customer Service' procedure three times and never received a response (auto-response guaranteed in 5 minutes). I looked up the phone number via internet and called to inquire about the status of my order.
The product is 'no longer available' and will not be back in stock. I questioned the telephone rep about why: It was verified as in-stock. Why I was charged for it via PayPal the same day. Why I never received an e-mail. Why I didn't get a response from 'Customer Service'. Why the software was still listed the same day I received an e-mail saying it wasn't in-stock (all license types are out-of-stock).
The answer I received was "I don't know; I'm sorry."
Pathetic customer service, pathetic web scores for customer satisfaction (I looked it up too late), and pathetic quality guaranty.
I'm filing complaints with everybody that keeps track of this kind of vendor. "
"The picture shows on their website is wrong, and you never get the rebates from them, and very bad customer services. You cannot even call them. The only way is to email and need to wait forever and all their responses are generic and no willingness to resolve issues. I had very bad experiences with them for at least a couple times and will not go back to them again."
"I bought an eee pc from Buy.com cause at the time they had the lowest price and free shipping. The taxes bumped the total price past the highest asking price, but i was prepared to pay. I paid through paypal and my first attempt at ordering was canceled. I attempted again with a credit card and was sent an e-mail asking me to fax a copy of my driver's liscense and credit card, NO WAY! Ok here let me just fax you my Social Security too. I've bought stuff online before and i was never asked to forward so much info. That's why i got paypal. I called their guys and they told me i had to send it or i wasn't going to get my order, simple as that. I thought they were rude and lagging to respond my e-mail. Actually they never responded to my e-mail that's why i called. But it's all for the best, i finally canceled my order, did a search for another website selling that computer and found the same laptop at ElectronicsShowplace.com Where it was like $50 less than the asking price listed on Buy.com, taxes and all. I'm mad at Buy.com for their srappy service and i too wish i came here first to read all the comlaints, ElectronisShowplace only 3 reviews and none of them are total disatisfaction. If i need something either i'll by it in person or at that website, but not Buy.com"

"Buy.com has the worst returns policy of any online retailer. I bought a "refurbished" GPS unit that was broken right out of the box. The mounting tab on the back of the unit was broken off and appears to be poorly designed. When I tried to return it, I was informed that their returns policy only allows you to return any item that has been opened or is defective for an exchange of the exact same item, no refunds allowed. How do you know if you like something if you don't open it? Why would you want to exchange an item that is poorly designed for the exact same item? I will not be buying anything from buy.com again and I suggest that if you want to buy junk, go to ebay."

"I have made many purchases over the internet and this is the worst I have ever seen. I have been told for the last week that my item will ship that day and I have now been told this for 4 days and still nothing shipped. I requested the order be cancled and they say that will take 3 days. Beware of this company, when they tell you they are going to send your item they lie... I'm now told not only can't they cancle the order but they have no idea when the item would ship...

"For my most recent purchase on buy.com, I needed Power Supply for a computer and found that it was $20 cheaper than anywhere else on on the site so I made the obvious choice in ordering from them. I made my order on Saturday August 9th, and the package made it to me, today, Tuesday August 12th via FedEx and that was free shipping. Not bad.
I have made many other orders (at least 10 or more orders) combining over $750 in the last year or so that I have been using buy.com. They have just recently started shipping much faster than they used to but they still can't seem to pack well even if their life depended on it. If you are ordering something fragile I would be a little worried. I have only had one item get damaged in shipping however and it happened to be packaged well. Otherwise buy.com is a great site that I can and will recommended to anyone."
"I have purchased about 5o items from buy.com so far and I was shocked to see those numerous negative feedbacks against them at resellerratings.com. I have had only one bad experience with buy.com - a shipment was late about three weeks - but I wouldn't mind it because sometimes their free shipping items arrive within one day! Once, a shipment was late and tracking numbers were unavailable. When informed, buy.com promptly sent a replacement and the late shipment also arrived couple of days later. For me buy.com has been excellent!"
