My RMA product delivered to buy.com on 1/4/08 but still status shows RMA issued. so far buy.com didn't acknowlege they got their product back. I didn't expecting replace product EVER. What a Hack!! You can't talk to customercare on phone. You will get half baked info from email which you can't reply back for follow-up to CC. Each time you have start again new email. It's horrible experience. "I ordered a refurbished Desktop computer. The first time I ordered it was cancelled for "unspecified" reasons. So I reordered and was finally told that I had to regsiter my shipping address with my credit card company, but that took three emails and one phone call to find out why. So I called my card company, only I used a debit card and they will not regsiter a secondary mailing address. So back to buy.com. I emailed and spoke to them about my problem. Finally I emailed them the web link to my company where I am having my stuff shipped and they researched it and emailed me back to say that was fine. This was on Jan 2. I go online to see where my order is, and is still "In process" and has not gone to the warehouse. So I call and ask on Jan 3 when my order will be sent. I talk to two people and they says it was shipped on Jan 2 but they do not have a tracking number. So I look on the website the next day and there is a tracking number but it is bogus. I know because I went on Fed Ex site to check it. So I call them on Jan 4 and they say it has been shipped but still do not have a tracking number. I call again on Jan 7 and spent 35 minutes on the phone talking to three people, including a "supervisor" who do not have access to a tracking number and cannot give me one, but have "escalated" my order. What ever that means! I was promised by the supervisor that I would receive a phone call or email with in 24 hours with a tracking number. This has still not happened. Oddly, and joyfully, the package appear via Fed Ex on Jan 7. I will NEVER EVER EVER buy from these people again. There is no integrity and apparently no good system to know where the heck their items are at any given moment. Yes, the price was great but I had to work way to hard for it. I would rather had paid the extra $150 and gone with Amazon or the like instead of having to fight to buy a "bargin". This is a major case of "buyer beware" and "you get what you pay for". They drop ship, yes, but more drop then ship."
"Okay, so on January 2nd, 2008, i ordered a Pioneer Surround Sound System for the Xbox 360 with (supposedly) free shipping for $107.99, and an optical audio cable for like $5. When i ordered it, it was in stock. When i ordered, within five minutes the item had been "Sent to warehouse" (which is good), and, also to my surprise i had been charged an additional $25 for shipping!!! So much for free shipping. Outraged i called buy.com and they said i didn't click the option on the checkout page that qualified me for free shipping. I checked again and there was no such option. So i just lived with it. It said "Ships within 1-2 business days", today is January 7th, its been almost 1 week and it still hasn't shipped. So, today i called them again and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes i got someone. She said that the reason the item hadn't shipped was because it was on back order (she wasn't very polite, but she was okay)!!!.OMFG Buy.com!!! If i order something, and it says in stock when i order it, there should be one for me ready to ship!!!!! So now i have no idea when i will get my product, and i don't know if i will be able to return my old speakers, which i was intended on doing after i got the Pioneer's...which may take weeks to ship. IF YOU SAY YOU HAVE SOMETHING IN STOCK, THERE SHOULD BE ONE FOR THE CUSTOMER READY TO SHIP WHEN THEY ORDER IT!!!!!! I got the cable today, but that wasn't shipping from buy.com (they did not provide me with a tracking number for the cable).

I bought a lot of stuff from Buy.com in past and recently I'm getting more and more dissatisfied with my experience.
After my last purchase I started to think not to buy anything from Buy.com again.
I purchased $150 motherboard for my new computer and I don't consider this cheap item, so I expected some respect from Buy.com in shipping the product, especially because this is computer hardware and require careful handling.
First, the box arrived half open. No it was not accidentally opened in transit. I can clearly see that it was not properly taped to begin with. Only one half of the top of box was taped to a box walls. It was a pure luck the item was still in the box and didn't fall out.
Second, the shipping box was 3 times bigger than the item and my new motherboard was moving freely inside the box hitting the box walls.
The motherboard retail box was all damaged and accessories inside the box were everywhere.
The worst part is that I don't know if motherboard itself was damaged until I assemble my new PC which will take a while. And if it is broken I'll have to disassemble it and pay shipping to get a replacement from Buy.com.
I repeat this is $150 most important part of my computer, it shouldn't be treated like a box of paper clips.
Customer Service is useless. No phone number, no incident tracking and the best you'll get is generic automated e-mail reply which is absolutely no help to you.

Buy.com's online customer service is useless and unhelpful, providing generic answers that do not address my problem. I ordered a great deal desktop computer from them over THREE weeks ago and my status was "on order" for the past two weeks. It was not until I called and argued with a customer service rep (after not getting good e-mail responses) for two hours that they finally shipped my darn computer.
Fine. But then came tracking the package. I really needed the computer and was anxious for it to come. But the tracking number they provided me via FedEx does not work! They said give it 72 hours for their site to update with FedEx's...it's been 96 and still no update. I have no idea when the package will come and they are just as clueless as well.
Bad experience and will never buy from them again. They need to benchmark themselves with amazon.com and see why they are losing customers by the day!

"I used to buy regularly from Buy.com, but their service has been steadily declining. On December 19 I ordered an mp3 player and paid extra for delivery by December 24. When Christmas had passed, I emailed their customer service. No response, even though they have network permission to access my computer. Over the next week I emailed them two more times with no response. The item was delivered on January 2, several days after the intended recipient had left town. But when I finally reached Customer Service by telephone they told me that January 2 was within the acceptable delivery time frame even though I had paid extra to have it delivered by December 24. Lesson learned. Don't believe anything they say, and don't get suckered more than once."
"On Nov 23rd I received a hot alert Black Friday email from Buy.com advertising a refurbished Zune 30 player for $99. I jumped on it and made the purchase through google checkout. Weeks passed and no product...so I inquired and was just told it was yet shipped. I checked several times and was told that it was just backordered with no idea of when it would ship. A month passed and no player. I was upset that they advertised a product with no idea of availability. To make matters worse, I started to get emails again advertising the same player in a different color, but never offered me a change from black to white. The last straw was my credit card was charged and I got a statement in the mail. I did not want to pay interest on a product when they still could not say when or if they would ever ship it and feel this is very unethical. I worked with Dell at my job. We sold our software shipped on Dell platform direct from their offices. We were told their is an FTC credit card law that mandates they must inform customers of late orders that go beyond 15 days and send automatic late notices to customers. Also, they cannot charge credit cards until product actually ships even though they take credit card information from customer at time of booking the order. How is it Buy.com has the nerve to charge my credit card before the order ships? They are not reliable and so if you really want something badly, do not trust them to get you the product. Go to some other retailer. Even if you have to pay a bit more it's worth it. I cancelled my order. I missed out on other specials in December at local stores for Zune players at $99 which was a mistake. They have nothing to say but "sorry" hope you buy from us again. Right. "
"I was a long time user & fan of BUY.com. I even took time a few years ago to give them a favorable rating here. But now I am done with them.
I ordered a printer and spare ink. The printer was back-ordered and the ink delivered in record time. After 30 days(?), I cancelled the printer and requested a return/refund for the ink. The refund was refused because I had exceeded 15 days. This apparently made perfect sense to the Buy.com service person, but not to me. There was no response to my second e-mail. So, I'm stuck with $50 of ink that I can't use.
Based on their falling ratings, many others are having similar problems.
Update 8/1/2011 - I stuck to my convictions, and I have not gone back to Buy.com since this experience. I now buy most of my stuff from TigerDirect.com and Ebay. I'm shocked at the number of people who still go to buy.com after all the bad reviews for poor customer service."

Generally, I have been satisfied with my many purchases from BUY.com -
HOWEVER, I ordered two audio books for my wife for Christmas. They both were advertised and sold/billed as UNabridged versions (the complete, more expensive versions).
I received them and simply hid them to wrap later. I assumed that they were as advertised, but honestly did NOT check closely.
After Christmas, My wife discovered that they were both the shorter, cheaper, abridged versions.
On several attempts to return them - UNopened and as originally received - BUY.com hides behind a 15 day return policy and WILL NOT exchange or refund.
If this happened once, I could understand a simple mistake, but with two out of two being wrong, I MUST wonder IF this is BLATENT FALSE ADVERTISING - OR - much worse - an ATTEMPT TO DEFRAUD?
Why wouldn't any LEGITIMATE, honorable company want to correct any careless mistake solely on their part????

"I don't normally bother with reviews. But this is a great example of the failing of Reseller Ratings. When a company is doing well, you only hear from the tiny minority of unhappy folks. Buy.com remains, over literally hundreds or orders placed over the years, one of the most reputable companies on the web. My experience has been that they ship faster than Newegg. I suppose there is always backlash around the holidays, with people not placing their orders in time to account for delayed shipping, but the rating they have now is totally unrealistic for this company. Keep in mind the suspicious fact that most of the negative reviewers have only left 1 review... These are either fraudulent, or at best, the kind of people that only complain and never comment on their good experiences. I placed 6 orders from them between Dec 18 and now. All shipped ontime or "better"
For the record, my most recent order was placed on Jan 1, new years day, shipped out Jan 2, and oddly enough given it was UPS Ground, has arrived today. I stronly advise people to look beyond angry last minute Christmas shoppers as you will not find a better place to shop online.

"I am in awe of just how bad this company can be. My whole experience has been a nightmare. I placed an order for a computer on Dec. 19th and paid for 2-day shipping so it would be delivered in time for Christmas (following their holiday shipping schedule). My shipment was issued a tracking number the next day, and marked as shipped the day after. But it didn't actually ship. No other tracking info was given after the initial scan. FedEx told me it was never picked up. I sent messages through the website and ultimately got someone on the phone on the 24th, five days after the order was placed. This person told me it was slated for delivery by 4:30 on the 24th and that I should wait to see if it shows up. I explained that it never actually shipped, but she was unwilling to admit there was a problem. I called back and got the exact same runaround from another person. So I waited, and of course it didn't arrive. So no Christmas present for my wife. On the 26th they finally emailed me to admit there was a problem. They said they put a claim on the package and it would take 3-5 business days to get a response. They recommended that if I wanted to get the package quickly that I should place a new order for the package and then cancel the first one. I could not believe what I was reading. They actually thought I was going to give them my credit card number again? But they also said they would be happy to just give me a full refund if that's what I wanted. I told them to just cancel the order and refund my money. I bought a different computer from another website and received it 44 hours later (that's how it's supposed to work).
Now today, 14 days after I placed the order with 2-day shipping, this computer shows up at my office. Now my order status shows that my claim was denied. I just can't even believe how bad this has gone.
Never ever buy from buy.com.
I never will again.
EDIT: After going back and forth for almost two weeks since I received the package I cancelled, they have issued me an RMA (after telling me there were no returns 'under any circumstances'.) But evidently my stubbornness has paid off. I refused to pay for a computer that they lost, lied about its shipping status, and then shipped after I cancelled the order. So hopefully my story has a happy ending (assuming I get my refund). After much review of my situation and others, it seems to me that you had better hope your order arrives on time, undamaged, and in working order. If you have a problem of any kind, your problems are only beginning. But for this disgruntled customer, at least I feel some level of vindication. Thanks for admitting you screwed up, and thanks for finally making an effort to make it right.
and to the person who posted after me regarding people being upset just because of ordering too late... yes, I waited 'til the last minute to order, but that was not the problem. The problem was with their customer service once I thought I had a problem. They refused to admit there was a problem. Then they led me to believe I could get a refund. Then they denied my refund and tried to stick me with the product, and referred me to their fine print as an explanation. Sorry. That's not good enough. The discount's not worth the hassle."

I purchased a Bluetooth headset as a Christmas gift in the month of December. Unfortunately my wife purchased her own just days before the holiday. Because Buy.com has severe and unreasonable return policies -- no returns for any reason after 14 days from purchase -- I was not allowed to return the item (even unopened) for a refund or credit. All attempts to contact customer service are just given "form letter" replies without any real discussion from the company reps. They really don't want to help - just want to check off the reply box with a standard letter.
NEVER buy any item as a gift from buy.com. If the item is wrong or even broken -- there is absolutely no time to return the gift in time for a replacement according to Buy.com's return policies."
