Today 12/10/07 I contact buy.com customer support (a waste of time) and was told that they could refund my money because it looks like the item was lost in transit. Until Nov 30th, 2007, i hadn't received the order, even the tracking results already showed the item was already in Dallas, TX. Then, i sent them an e-mail to let them know i hadn't received the item. They replied and asked me to wait until Dec 03, 2007 because the order hadn't taken time 7-9 days of business. Even, when i received that e-mail, it was already Dec 03, 2007. Finally, I had to send them a complaint e-mails three times before they put a claim on behalf of my name. They also said apologies to me in the e-mails and explained that their warehouse did not have the item. Was that very weird and funny? If their warehouse did not have that item, how come did they issue the tracking number to me? And how come were there a tracking results that looked like the item was on the way when i tracked that tracking number? If it liked that, i could say www.buy.com seemed to fake and make up that tracking number and result. How smart are they?
What's i am gonna say here...for prospective buyers or current buyers stay away from www.buy.com. I am really sure they really do dishonest business here such as a ghetto. Even, they would refund the money, but we as a buyer had already spent a certain time, felt worry about our order and however, we already paid out our credit card company, even then www.buy.com credited back that money.
WWW.BUY.COM takes our money and invests that money in somewhere of some short-term investment that can gain some interests/profit soon. Then, later it really does not matter if they need to refund our money and say sorry that their warehouse does not have that item anymore because they already makes a profit of the investment interests from our money. What's the price of an apology compares to the things the buyers already lost by buying something from www.buy.com? Just an apology can not buy our lost time, our time value of money, our feeling, etc. THIS COMPANY IS TO CHEAP AND DANGEROUS, TRICKY, GHETTO, AND LIAR...!
AGAIN, PLEASE DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS KIND OF ONLINE WEBSITE. I could say all the reviews here from other buyers are all true because i had those kinds of experiences also with them. Their 14 days return policy is also a big horrible and terrible. They count those 14 days after the item leave their warehouse. BUT, the reality some of us never get our order within those 14 days. So, how come buyers make a return if they receive an order more than 14 days???

"Attempted to cancel order 11 hours after placing. Order was placed in a "order requested to be canceled" state. Several days later the order status had not changed, AND the product arrived.
I called Buy.com customer service and was told the order could not be returned to Buy.com. This was never mentioned on my original invoice nor on any subsequent web pages I have accessed since the 27th (today is December 10).
I spent 35 minutes on hold while my call was escalated to a supervisor. She informed me the laptop was not returnable to Buy.com, but could not offer any instructions on how to return it to the manufacturer (HP). Upon further urging she told me she would submit an "exception" RMA request. Upon completing the call I was offered no detail on how to recontact this supervisor or track my exception request.
On December 8 I received an email from Buy.com stating that I could return my laptop, all I needed to do was access their web-site and request an RMA #.
After accessing their web-site, and reviewing my order, I was not able to request a RMA#. When clicking on "direct returns" I was given a list of manufacturers of which HP was not listed.
Observations:
1. Web-site not easy to use (you have to click through the request to cancel order page (you may think you have canceled your order, but you haven't) to actually initiate that action.
2. Direct customer service dial-in line not advertised (A Google search provided it).
3. Customer service representatives not friendly and do not appear goaled to ensure a positive customer experience.
4. Will probably not use this site again to purchase anything."
"Buy.com never shipped the product I bought. When they fount out, they would not send a second item.
I bought a wireless router. Buy.com order tracking showed "shipped" the day after. Ywo weeks later, UPS said that they never picked it up from Buy.com. I called Buy.com. Customer service said that they need to investigate before they would send a replacement. I talked to a supervisor. My argument is that I bought an item because I needed it. If UPS says they never picked it up from Buy.com, then Buy.com should ship a replacement immediately. This supervisor finally agreed to ship me a replacement unit.
Five days later, the replacement unit was not yet shipped.
I cancelled the order. I bought it from newegg.com for a couple of dollars cheaper. It came within three days. I wasted three weeks dealing with buy.com.
Buy.com took their sweet time to investigate and return my money. They finally credit the money back to me after they concluded their investigation close to a month later. "

"Avoid this store at all costs. This is the second order I have placed with them, the first resulted in my boycotting them for at least 2 years. This time, they were the only ones I could find with a book I wanted to give as a gift in stock. I ordered the book, paid $5.99, and when it arrived it had a MSRP printed on it of $2.99. Emailed customer support, and received a dismissive email stating that $5.99 was the cost when I bought it, therefore that's what I was charged. The previous experience involved an incorrect DVD player they shipped, - they sent the wrong model, gave me every excuse under the sun as to why it was not their fault, accused me of everything from outright lying to not being able to read the model number off the box, then charged me 15% to return it. Before ordering from them, take a good look at their return policies, they are outright abusive. Amazon and several other large firms do not behave like this - I have had problems with orders and they have been fixed promptly (and politely). This will be the last time!"
"I will never order from Buy.com again!!! I had ordered Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 during the rebate period ($40 MIR if purchased between 11/23-11/30). I received my order a week and a half after ordering it and when I opened it, I could tell it had been a return because the sticker on the bottom of the box had been removed and restuck. The CD ROM was not in the sleeve and the manual had dog-eared pages. I immediately called Corel to see if the serial # for registering had been used and sure enough it had. I called Buy.com and after 37 minutes of waiting to speak to a CSR I was told to send it back and another one would be sent but they could not and would not honor the MIR. They told me it was shipped from one of their vendors and they had no control over me getting a USED copy of software!!!! No appologies!!!! "I can not tell you how disappointed I am with Buy.com. Not only did I not receive my order, but the C/S was terrible. I ordered the ZUNE 30 on Nov. 23, 2007, received a confirmation email and on Nov. 24, 2007 I received an email that my ZUNE had shipped. I received a tracking number so when I checked it on Dec. 3 it showed it was still in Texas. I called FedEx and they said the tracking number was invalid and the item was never given to them to ship. I called C/S and asked where my ZUNE was. As usual, I was routed to India to a call center that has no real power to resolve much. They were not very compassionate and repeatedly told me "we are only a virtual store/drop-ship company." This does not sound right in this case since these ZUNEs were remanufatured by Microsoft. I'm pretty sure Buy.com was the seller and even if they weren't, they should be able to control invetory. C/S said they had no stoke and can only file a claim to refund my money (which I have not received as of this writing). If I wanted a ZUNE 30, I would have to purchase the new one for $199 instead of getting the remanufactured one for $98. Is that BAIT&SWITCH or what?!! From the forums I've read, I am not alone. Buy.com way over-sold this item, collected the money (which they get interest on) but never ship the items because they don't have anything to ship. This was to be a gift for my wife and she was really disappointed too. To make her fell better, I went ahead and ordered a new ZUNE 80. From Buy.com? NO WAY. I bought it at Amazon.com. I called C/S to check on it and received EXCELLENT service (a US call center!) Buy.com could learn alot from Amazon. Buy.com will be a last resort for any future purchases, if any at all!!! "I ordered a Pioneer 600W HTS-GS1 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System from Buy.com via PayPal. The Buy.com order number is 36524098. Even though I paid extra for 2 day shipping I have yet to receive the item. For 6 days the only information I could get from Buy.com was a message on their website that said the order was in the warehouse. Today on the 7th day I get a message that says the item is on order. I sent buy.com support 2 emails and have yet to receive a reply. I needed this item soon that's why I paid the additional shipping. Why did it take an entire week to inform me that the item is on order? What a waste of time. I could have purchased it somewhere else if I knew they didn't have them in stock. I canceled the order and I hope there will not be a problem with having my money refunded. And why does buy.com not have a telephone number for customer service?"
" I orderd two Acer 22" monitors from Buy.com Sunday Dec.2. The items are sold by Buy.com too. They were shipped Dec 3, and I was amazed I got them the next day lunch day. Shipping is free, and very fast. The monitors came in very good brand new condition. I will shop there again.

I read my review about Buy.com posted last year. Now I have to update it. I ordered two items one is a tripod and another one is a wireless mouse seperately on Buy.com. Yes, they are not as expensive as the two moniotors I got before. They used the worst shipping service Fedex Smartpost to ship them. The tripod took 3 weeks to get to me, and the mouse was worse, it took more than one month to get to me after I already contact Buy.com, and they told me it was lost. I couldn't track any of them during they were shipping both of the time. Yes, they are free shipping, but the monitors were free shipping too. But the monitors were shipped much much faster than these two. Amazon, Staples etc. give you free shipping too, but they use UPS, and they are fast, I can get the items I ordered in at most 3 days, sometimes were next day. So for these two very bad shipping experience with Buy.com, I am not going to purchase anything from them unless they won't use that stupid smartpost anymore. They saved bucks on shipping, but they are losing customers. I would rather purchase from those places that give you both free and fast shipping."
"I have ordered thousands of dollars from buy.com and am ok with their service. They have very competitive price and the buy.com credit card gives 3% cash back. My last order was last Tuesday for a flash drive and an external harddrive. I got the harddrive in 3 days and the flash drive in 4 days. No shipping charge and tax. I have nothing to complain.
I don't think it's fair to rate this legitimate site as low as those scammers. However, one thing I don't like is that buy.com censors the negative reviews on their products. So don't rely soly on reviews on their site to make your decision to purchase. "
"Horrible Experience!!!
I placed an order (a camcorder) on 11/29/07. Two days later, they sent me an email saying that they need me to add the shipping address into my credit card (billing address and shipping address are not the same). I called my credit card company, added the shipping address info, and replied them with my credit card company's phone number in my email. After that, they seem like disappeared, no email responses anymore. I tried to call them soooooo many times, but only got through twice. You know why? Because the average waiting time for me to actually get someone speak to me was 35 minutes. Most of the time, I just sit there, turn on the speaker, and listen to the endless music. Even though finally someone answered the phone, the customer representative knew nothing. What they can do is only to enter whatever you said into the system, and wait to see what's going to happen. I notified them that I have to get this product by 12/19/07, so they'd better send it out in real soon, but no response again. A week later, I had to cancel the order and bought the product from another website.
Here is one thing that needs to be pointed out: When I placed the order, it says "In Stock", and they promise to ship the product within 2 business day if it's in stock. BUT, when I canceled the order and checked back to the product display page, it says "TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT"!!! I don't know if that's the reason took them sooooo long to process, or anything else. What I want to say is: IF IT'S SOLD OUT, TELL ME! At least they should let me know the status of the product has been changed. But what they did was let me wait without even one single word.
Indeed, Buy.com has good prices, but you pay less for reasons. Endless waiting is one. Unless they have a really good deal, this is going to be my last order from them.

"I find it hard to believe this vendor is rated as low as it is. I have ordered from Buy.com dozens of times over the years and ALWAYS receive my merchandise (mostly computer hardware) within a week with free shipping. I have only had to return an item only two or three times out of many orders, and did so each time without much hassle. Personally, I would recommend this vendor to family or friends and have done so a number of times. "
