"They claim order has been shipped, yet no information can be found on the 'alleged' tracking number provided. This has taken 3 weeks (So far!) - I would have liked to request a refund & cancel the order, but the website part for that didn't work (Server 500 error that I reported to them [buy.com]), so instead I emailed them on the 9th Nov - on the 12th Nov they replied that it wasn't possible to cancel my order as it 'had entered the shipping process' - Yeah, right... after I submit a cancel my order request it 'magically' ships !! Awesome - NOT! (As I mentioned they did provide a completely useless unfindable tracking # and then promptly sent an email claiming that the item 'was on it's way to my door').
Oh and to make me feel better they applied the charges to a credit card on the day I ordered the item - more than 3 weeks before they 'claim' the item has shipped, which, remember, it conveniently shipped on a day I ask for it to be canceled.
Abysmal, customer (dis)service, no help at all, I dread to think how long the 'shipping' will take!! And I WILL be contacting my credit card to get the charges adjusted, I'm not waiting another year before buy.bomb gets around to it!
Thanks - To sum up - Dont.buy.com

"Beware of Price Guarantee. It's nearly worthless. It is not available if:
1)Your order was shipped free.
or
2)You used a coupon for your order
or
3) It has been four or more days since you placed your order.
For example...
I ordered an $800 printer on Thursday, November 8th (order# 35962358.) I then called buy.com customer service on Sunday when I saw that Buy.com's price had dropped by $100. After waiting 45 minutes on the phone gave up. Called again Monday (yesterday) and was told that because it was day 4, Buy.com would not honor the price match.
I said that I could mail back the unopened printer to them and get the refund and then re-buy it at the lower price. Customer Service Representative said “go ahead, do it."
I then said that it would be ecologically unsound to mail a printer back to them to then have to same printer mailed back to me.
I suggested that a simpler way to get to the same place and save them cost of processing the return, and save them the shipping cost of sending the printer back to me, would be to just give me the price adjustment.
The Customer Service Representative then said to mail back the printer and Buy.com would mail it back to me. And, then, I would receive the price adjustment.
Although, this solution conforms to company policy does it makes sense to you? Can you please make the adjustment or do I really need to mail the printer back to you and rebuy it in order to realize the price difference?
What the ???
It's the opposite of Customer Service.

"I placed an order with buy.com on Tue. 10/23 and chose the free shipping which had a delivery time of 7-9 business days. I could live with that. I finally received an email on Fri. 11/2 (8 business days later) stating that the item had shipped.
I called the CS dept. on the following Friday 11/7 after not receiving my order for 13 business days. The CS rep I spoke with was the rudest I have ever had the displeasure with dealing with. When I asked where my order was she replied "in transit" When I questioned when I could expect receipt of the merchandise she told me "It should be there by 11/21"
Now I'm beginning to get angry. I said this was unacceptable and was told "I'm not the one who chose the shipping method" insinuating that this is what I should expect with free shipping. I replied that I chose the 7-9 business day shipping not 20 business days that turns into a month.
She never could explain why the website says 7-9 business days but I should wait a month. I will never do business with this company again even if they are giving away their merchandise. The girls name was Porsche btw, I hope one of her supervisors sees this and fires her."
"I have purchased items from Buy.com on several occasions and have had no problems. My most recent order was about 45 days back for a MAXTOR 1 Touch III hard drive and a Norton Ghost backup program (still waiting for my $50 rebate to arrive).
The transaction was normal with no problems. I have never had to call the CSR department and, after reading some of the experiences here on Resellers forum, I will be careful not to place an order on anything too expensive with them.
Additionally they need to change their return policy from a deplorable 14 days including delivery time to a moderately acceptable 30 days from day of receipt before I will have much confidence in them in the future."
"I ordered a Plantronics Voyager 520 headset from buy.com on 10/8/2007. The product arrived on 10/15. My callers noticed a lot of feedback on their end, and my end seemed to have a lot of static. Other people with Voyager headsets didn’t not seem to have this problem, so on 10/24 I contacted Buy.com through their customer service email (the only listed method on the site). I received a reply on 10/26 saying that they are looking into the matter. The reply also mentioned that I could request a phone number if I felt my need was urgent or too difficult to explain via email. I requested the phone number on 10/27. On 10/29, I received this number: 1-***-***-****. This number is listed on their site as the number to call for orders.
By 11/5, I had not heard anything back from Buy.com, so I called. I received three busy signals before getting through. The woman I talked to said there was nothing they could do about my defective order because I had already passed the 14 day return limit. I insisted that I had contacted Buy.com via email 11 days after receiving my headset. She said she would put my request through to the corporate office.
On 11/8 I received an email stating that Buy.com could not refund my order because I had exceeded the 14 day return policy.
I called the 1-800 number again on 11/9. I waited 40 minutes to talk to someone, explaining that this situation was unacceptable. I paid $45 for the headset, found it defective, and contacted Buy.com. They gave me the runaround until well after my 14 days had passed. The man I talked to said the 14 day policy starts the day Buy.com ships the order. I asked how I could know something was wrong with the product while in transit to me. He could not provide me with an answer. I then called Plantronics who agreed to repair the headset for me.
Buy.com’s customer service and business policies are unacceptable.

"I purchased a cell phone from buy.com. After a few days of use, the phone would not hold a charge at all. The charger they sent with the phone never worked - I had to use an old charger. The first two times I called customer support I was put on hold for over 30 minutes. I finally hung up. The third time I actually got through to someone who tried to look up my order. They asked me for my 9-digit order number. The number on my order was an 8-digit number. He tried looking it up by my name, home phone number, cell phone number, address and email. He also tried to look up the order from the ESN number on the phone. He did not find it and told me he could not help me. I sent an email to customer support explaining the situation and asking for help. They sent me an email that said they could not help me because I had exceeded the 14 days from my initial order and could not return the phone. I sent another email explaining that I had originally contacted them prior to the 14 days but they could not find my order. I received the same email. I have purchased from buy.com twice and both times had horrible experiences. I feel like an idiot for doing it a second time. I will NEVER buy from them again."
"Buy.com shipped my xerox toner order quickly and it was genuine HP toner in retail box. I ordered from them more than once in the past as well. Always get good service and fast shipment and get legit real genuine HP toner. Their prices maybe are not the best I can find now, but they did right by me in the past and I would recommend them."
"I ordered an HD DVD on September 25th, 2007. I waited two full weeks, my order never shipped out. When I contacted customer service they didn't respond to my first three E-mails. I finally called(their phone number was practically hidden on their site) and was on hold for 30mins, I asked for a refund they gave me the run around. They said again I needed to wait another week before they could "file a claim." I waited yet again, I still had not received my merchandise that I paid for. Over a month had passed, and the tracking number they provided me with even said the item had not shipped out. I called back, and this time I was very upset. They finally agreed to give me a refund, but what a hassle for my $25. I'll never order anything from Buy.com again."
"Purchased a graphics card from this store on 10/23/2007. Company shipped it the next day from NJ. I live in Washington, DC. 2 weeks later, the tracking information shows that the item was shipped to California!!! I have been trying to get another item shipped to me since the tracking information showed the California routing, and have been given the run around from the store. This was my first experience with them. I think I'll stick with amazon.com from now on."
"Horrible customer service! Prices sometimes are good, but it does not worth because of hassles and inconvenience of dealing with customer support in case you need to get refund, replacement or you-name-it.
Months ago had bad experience with 1-2 orders, took hours on the phone and months to get my money back for non-working items sold as new. Right now I'm dealing with them about my recent order which my employee placed on Nov. 1st 2007 for item I already ordered just couple days ago. I called buy.com customer service just an hour after he placed the order to cancel it, also sent request through my online account. My card was charged, of course, almost immediately. Since that day I'm trying to get confirmation that my order is cancelled but they keep telling me that this process takes 3-5 business days (what the f***????) and they maybe will ship this item before they will be able to cancel it. Spoke about 4 times with them over the phone - the same answer: we apologize, but cancellation request takes 3-5 business days"... Can imagine how long it will take to get my money back.
As a result I cancelled another order placed on buy.com about 2-3 weeks ago for Microsoft Zune, even the price is very good. Simply, I don't want to do business with resellers like buy.com - there are better companies like newegg.com with excellent customer service and low prices.
Goodbye, buy.com. No more deals with you.
----
Update: Nov. 15.
Finally got confirmation by email that my order is cancelled on Nov. 12. It took 12 days (!) to cancel my order, and I got refund to my PayPal account used for this transaction the same day. That was the only positive think in whole story."
"I have had a very dissatisfying experience with this company and its policies. I ordered a panasonic dmc-fz18k camera for $333. They said it was not available but would be shipped when stock arrived. They had placed an urgent order with their suppliers to obtain the product. One month later it is in stock with the same sku for $342. They cancelled my order as soon as it came in.
Customer service and supervisor Leslie could do nothing because of company policies. This company does not have a clue about building a customer base through good service. I would not purchase anything of more than minimal value from them."
"Ordered a macro SD card from them on 10/29/2007 and received it on 11/01. Was satisfied with the transaction and would buy from them again."
"Ordered from them two more times and received the orders very fast, even with the free shipping option. I ordered some cd-rs from them, and they were poorly packaged. The case was all broken. Luckilly none of the cd-rs were damaged. Don't be afraid to order from them. Everything will be fine...unless you have to return something."
"Extremely poor customer service. Just make sure you don't have a problem or you will be in CSR hell. I also purchased a product and 2 days later it was $30 cheaper, but because I had received free shipping, they refused to give me the price difference.
I realize that they run many promotions and oftentimes their prices are very low and competitive, but personally from getting burned the second time, I promise myself that there won't be a third.
I'd highly recommend staying away from Buy.com"
"Product did not ship when promised. I have emailed 3 times inquiring where my product is without responce. Thier automated tracking system does not work either. I am about to file a dispute with paypal if I do recieve a responce soon. Stay away - far far away.
UPDATE
I finally recieved an email from buy.com saying they were investigating my case and that I should re-order (and pay again) my item to recieve it more quickly while they sorted out my case. I am very confused by that. Why would I order two of the same product when they couldn't even get me one?
Anyways.. still hoping. "
