"Buy.com has been the absolute worst. I have never experienced such horrible customer service. We ordered two speakers from them, and we received a refurbished MP3 player. After weeks of dealing with incompetent customer service reps, they FINALLY issued us a return authorization. Keep in mind, the item we were returning was due to THEIR mistake. Then, instead of sending us our order of two speakers, they only sent us one. We have been trying for over a month to get a refund for the second speaker, which has NEVER BEEN SHIPPED, and we never get a straight answer. The last time, we were told the returns department was "behind." I would be surprised if they ever refund us the money they owe us on a speaker they never even shipped. We will never purchase from this site again."

"I pre-ordered a camera at a very good price. The camera has now been listed as being in stock for one week, but hasn't been shipped. They list it as being in stock from a 3rd party at the retail price, but out of stock when buying directly from buy.com at the "bait-and-switch" price.

Update: After waiting one month for buy.com to honor their price, I canceled and received this message:

Cancellation Requested
A request has been made to cancel this item. Sometimes items enter the shipping process before we can cancel them. We'll eMail you within 7 to 10 business days (holidays and weekends excluded) to let you know if we can honor your request.

"I ordered a USB flash drive and then decided to cancel the order. The drive was already shipped so they told me to leave a note to refuse delivery. That seemed to work as it never came. However, a couple months later I noticed that I hadn't been credited the return. After two emails (the first saying they didn't have it on record that it had come back), they credited my card saying that they strive for my satisfaction. I've ordered allot with them and this is the first real problem I've had. I like doing buisiness with them."

"Just ordered/rec'd video game equipment. Got it promptly, in brand new condition, no problems. I have ordered from buy.com dozens of times in the past 8 years. I like them. Their prices are great, especially on books. The 3 or 4 times I had to return items, they issued me a RMA and a pre-paid shipping label each time, and I got a replacement quickly. The only negative comment I have about them is that they ship PC and GBA games in bubble envelopes, resulting in smashed boxes. Otherwise, I like their stuff and their prices."

"The website claims item is in stock when it's actually not. Customer support is terrible. They have the same item (a laptop with exactly the same specs in my case) in stock but at a higher price so they are refusing to ship it to me as I ordered at a lower price. Companies as unscrupulous as this should not be allowed to do business. "

"Poor experience with customer service. I got caught in the Hanns-G 19" rebate mess, for which Buy.com was unwilling to provide any support. Other retailers caught in the rebate mess made right with their customers. I will be doing business with those other retailers but not buy.com. Retailers should stand by the terms and prices provided on their website. It was also extremely hard to get through to their support. My requests for information through email and through their webpage were not responded to (beyond their initial 'we received your email' message.)"

"Ordered a memory card from buy.com 26.95 than a 17 mail in rebate - 9.95. This is a 2gb compact flash memory card. Got a package in the mail - 1gb memory card, not what i ordered. The packaging for the product was a little damaged (i wouldnt have minded if it was the right product). The mail in rebate must be mailed in by nov 1st, so i have 28 to get the new item back and send the rebate form in.

Here is the good stuff
I emailed buy.com explaining my situation, there repsonse was:
1. they could not gaurentee the rebate would be valid if not shipped on time (even though it was there error)
2. They sold out of the product i had ordered (and they sent me the wrong item)
3. they might not refund my return shipping becuase the packaging was damaged (the way it arrived)
4. They would have to do a return on the wrong item they sent me, and do a new sale with the product i ordered WHEN IT COMES INSTOCK. with the new sale, i would not be able to get the rebate.
What annoyes me the most is the ignorant non prodcutive emails i get back from customer service reps.

They officially have lost my Confidence, and i will not be buying from them anymore, i will stick to buying from amazon. I have spent alot of money with Buy.com, But i will not purchase from them anymore. This is not the first time they have messed up, but this time its the last straw. Good luck if you decide to order from them. I will stick with Amazon, as should you.

"Well, I ordered an ergotron monitor stand on 10/1/2007 sometime around mid-day using Google checkout with the $10.00 discount using their free shipping option (around 7 business days transit). I received a notice that it had shipped by that same evening and since it was shipped from Indiana to Illinois, it was on the FedEx truck and delivered the next day! (wow) So from placing the order to receiving the item, it was just over 24 hours. Given the speed of the order and shipping, and considering the good price, discount and free shipping, the experience is hard to beat.

Can't comment on their customer service or the rebate fiasco that other users here are complaining about, but my experience has been nothing but positive so far.

"Ordered an Xbox 360 Elite. Processing time wasn't too bad, and the item arrived in perfect condition. No hassles, good service!

As for price... free shipping and no tax! Plus the $10 off for trying Google Checkout. Great deal!

My only concern is that the item didn't seem to have quite enough padding on all sides. But since it arrived undamaged, it doesn't tarnish my opinion of Buy.com at all. Would definitely buy again!

"I have ordered from Buy.com many times and have never had a problem. Some of their prices beat competitors, while other items are more expensive, so be sure to compare! Shipping times are average, not super fast, but not slow either. They state 3-7 days and I receive it in about 5 days. I am satisfied with Buy.com and would always consider Buy.com as a great place to shop and order from."

"The worst company I have come across in my life time. I have raised the a dispute with my credit card company and paypal as i had paid through paypal. I have bought 99% of my home requirements via internet and has worked with many company along the way for last 10 years, but i gave up with the customer service of buy.com. "i hv order GPS form that company. after i place the order to them. they very fast to ship out my order.and though the UPS to ship to me.after they ship out my order i hv to double check my address . oh my god is wrong. because i just move and forgot to correct my address.and then i just to "check the UPS wed site keep check my order. after i know UPS the ship the package to my old address . i just right away to go to my old address to pickup my package. but when i in there nobody hv rcvd my package. and i check the UPS record they just put my package in the front door. so my package is missing. same date i hv report to BUY.com they say they will follow my case. and few date they just information me UPS they not take the responsibility for that case. and thet they just email me their Per company policy:
"Title to goods passes to you upon delivery to the common carrier." (http://www.buy.com/corp/legal.asp). Basically this says that once a product is in transit via the shipping carrier, the ownership and responsibility of the product has passed from Buy.com to the customer. It is the customer's responsibility from this point forward to make sure someone is at the delivery address provided to accept the package. If no one is available at this address at the time of delivery, the carrier is authorized to leave the package at the door and the order is considered completed at that time. Basically, the security of the delivery location provided by the customer falls under the responsibility of the customer.
so i told them why ups just delivery the package to the front door? i hv to pay the shipping fee. that is not the my address is wrong. if my address is nobody in there . UPS can put the noted in there. if they process is right . so my package maybe no missing . i can go to the ups station pickup. but they don't care they just put the package in front door. i inform buy.com. my package is ship to my old address and the name is me. not front door!!! i just say please help me to fright it back. right UPs they just put the package front door how can i check who take it? how can i find out where my package? because no record. nobody to sign!! and ups process not right. and they not take the responsibility. buy .com just inform me "unfortunately at this point we are unable to assist you further in this matter." so i hv not more to buy anything form "buy.com"
also when i request them if my case not one will take the responsibility. can they just give me the discount for the same item. but they only show me their company policy.

"This store is great as long as you do not have to return anything. They will offer you very good price and free shiping and ship real fast. I was very happy with the first two orders, the third was a digital camera. The quality of the images were unacceptable and i decided to return the camera for a refund. Item had to be returned to their returns processing center in CA and it took another two full weeks to process the return and i ended up getting only a PARTIAL refund and no shipping!!!"
