"I purchased 2 SD cards from them that were advertised as free after rebate. The cards were overpriced to begin with. The SD card company wouldn't pay the rebates and is "possibly" bankrupt. Bye.con refunded a few people's rebates but then decided to stop. Other stores, like PCconnection, Compusa, and others, stepped up to the plate and refunded these rebates to everybody. I was told by Bye.con that I would get a refund, but never did. Their customer service is practically nonexistent. And this whole fiasco happened after it was too late to do a credit card dispute and complaints to the BBB were a joke. After the way they have treated me and thousands of others, I will never buy anything from them again, even if it is free! Other retailers have proved themselves a lot more worthy of my spending dollars and that is where I will take my business. They could have at least offered store credit instead of a refund. Now you know their "true colors". "

"Buy.com that was my favorite online shopping has become a disgusting reseller recently. I just listed one of many problematic orders. I had a problem with rebate for this order and I emailed their customer service at least three times never, never had a response. They are just trying to avoid this kind of problems on purpose. never believe their product review and low price with rebate.

"Placed order for USB wireless addapter for $25 with $15 rebate, advertised in stock. Waited 1 week for order to process to be informed that item is backordered. I checked their site to find the same item listed for $50 and in stock, with no rebate. Needless to say I canceled my order and spent my money at the Office Max near me. They may have posted an incorrect price but basically they just lie that they don't have it while trying to sell it for more. "

"When BUY.com didn't have the software with release date 01/30/2007 but everyone else did I cancelled my order, or so I thought. Now on 08/13/2007 this brilliant retailer shipped me 1 of the 2 items originally ordered. Turns out when I called to cancel they only cancelleed 1 item and my coupon not the entire order.

Now I'm jumping thru hoops trying to get them to refund me both the shipping costs and full price instead of having to pay their 15% restocking fee. I mistakenly opened the package since I didn't know what it was and now I am unable to refuse thru UPS.

Most likely I'll have to go thru my credit card company and just do a charge back since it takes forever to get any response from this company.

"Ordered a Connect3D 2GB SD memory card. Paid $50, but there was a $50 rebate advertised. Submitted rebate over 6 months ago, and it still hasn't been paid. Buy.con doesn't even bother responding to my emails. Horrible customer service from Buy.con. I'll never order from them again."

"I've made six purchases in the last two months from Buy.com, four of which had rebates. All my rebates came with no problem and they constantly have great deals. The only possible negative is that shipping sometimes takes a while, but I have yet to pay for shipping on any of my orders, which more than makes up for a few extra days of waiting."

"I ordered a noise cancelling headphone on Aug 28 and received the item on Aug 30. The price was competitive (with a rebate expected from Creative) with very fast free shipping. The packaging was good, there was email tracking and access to receipts online.

I have now ordered four items from Buy.com over the last three months. Service and price has been consistently excellent. In several cases there was unexpected, suprisingly fast free delivery (I noticed from the recent package it was shipped from a Midwest wharehouse versus California - that made for a faster delivery to where I live - a pleasant suprise).
With my recent experiences over the past three months, I would certainly rate Buy.com on a par with Newegg. I will certainly place Buy.com along with Newegg at the top of my list of email vendors to check out first.

"Customer service is very hard to get a response from. I tried emailing several times and called twice and only after a straight week of trying I finally got an email from them. Beware of rebate runaround. Other companies like PCconnection or Office Depot will honor them if their is a problem but Buy.com will not "

"I do not understand why my xD memory card is still in transit as of today, 08/08/07. And do not understand why buy.com would need to switch carrier from UPS to USPS.

"Another Connect 3D 2gb USB drive scam victim. I also never got the $50 rebate. Buy.com refuses to make good on the rebate as "their exposure is too large" - meaning that they are not willing to give up any of their HUGE profit obtained from this product. They state that they have NO RESPONSIBILITY to make good an this offer although Amazon.com, Newegg and Office Depot have all refunded the money to those who have requested it.
What their attorneys and CEO, NEIL GROVER - - ***-***-**** are saying is that it will cost them too much to refund the $50 to so many scammed customers and that it will cost them less to fight the few lawsuits that may result than give up some of their profit on this item. - They sold some 3 to 7 million units - you estimate the profit!! I suggest all scammed customers do everything possible (and post ideas on this web site) to help put this company (Buy.com) out of business!! A company like this makes us weary of doing business with ANY Internet marketer and that is just not fair!!

"!!!beware: buy.com - scam masters! the usual "bait and switch", false advertisement practices. items listed as "in stock" are actually NOT in stock! they lure you to apply for their credit card but after you approved, an order is never received. they lure you with promotions wich already ended months ago (such as google checkout bonus)! "I ordered six items on July 9. One, the Case Logic VNC-15 laptop case (SKU 202778691) was listed as "Out Of Stock" or "Back-ordered" at the time.

Despite all other items being In Stock, they came in 3 separate shipments...but that's not a big problem.

I still have never received the laptop case. Several times over the last month of waiting (at least 4), the website has been updated to show the item as In Stock, available for shipment. My order has never been updated from "On Order".
I've tried contacting Customer Service 3 times regarding the item being available for purchase on the website (for a lower price, no less) while my order was still not filled. Twice I received rapid canned responses stating they were still trying to get the items in my order. The third email was supposedly "escalated" to see what the problem was, and I never heard back from them again. (Was told on July 29 the issue was being escalated, emailed back on Aug 4 for an escalation update, haven't heard anything back by Aug 7.)

I’ve been using Buy.com since 1998, shortly after it was created and have spent thousands of dollars with them. The service has been hit-and-miss since then, but I’ve risked it for special sale items. However, the service has definitely NOT been exceptional, and this most recent experience has turned me off from them completely. To have an order waiting for a month claiming not to have the item in stock, but still taking in new orders for the same item (at a lower price) stating the item IS in stock and ready for shipment is outrageous. Stopping communication AFTER the issue has supposedly been escalated is inexcusable.

Buy.com is a large store with a varied stock and decent prices, buy there’s no reason to order from them if you don’t know you’ll ever receive the order and cannot communicate with them.

Never again. Too bad for you, Buy.com.
