"I have ordered several items from Buy.com over the last few years and have never had any problem with them. I just placed another order yesterday with them. Will give a review how this order goes also when received.
It appears most of the negative feedback on Buy.com stems from rebates not being honored from Connect3D, not Buy.com. I hope all you folks get your rebates, but was it really Buy.com's fault?"
"Purchased a secure digital card with the expectation of a rebate. Buy.com will not take responsibility for OEM going out of business, nor offer anything close to full compensation."
"Purchased a Sandisk Sansa c140 MP3 player and the unit arrived non-functional right out of the box. Would not power on at all. I requested an RMA for an EXCHANGE, not a REFUND as I want a working product. Was informed that this item was under their 'Special Returns Policy' and could not be issued an RMA for a REFUND. I was also quoted their special return policy which clearly indicated I could return the item for REPAIR or EXCHANGE, but not a REFUND. I re-iterate that I want to exchange for a new unit, not any sort of refund. I got rotated through several customer reps via email that all gave me the same runaround. A $20 item cost them potential $1000's as I will not buy anything for myself or my company from them ever again."
"The email AD from buy.com said the 1GB ACP-EP SD card was just $10 after $30 rebate - but guess what, the rebate never came and complaining to buy.com did not help one bit. That may seem ok but then I found from google that numerous folks had the same issue and complained to buy.com with no effect and now are on to FTC, Attorney General's office etc. The worst part is buy.com is of no help and continues to advertise deals from the same problem vendor though they know about this problem - meaning they continue to send fraudulent email ADs ! Never buy from buy.com!"
"Buy.con is refusing to honor a $150 rebate on a LCD HDTV I purchased in February 2007. The company which should have fulfilled the rebate is out of business. Although buy.con advertised the rebate on its site, it feels no responsibility to pay me.
I'm especially angry because a couple of weeks after my purchase, buy.con sold the same item for $150 less, without a rebate. So buy.con made an extra $150 from me. "
"I bought a Samsung LN-T3253H - 32" LCD HDTV from buy.com. It had the lowest price at the moment of all the stores I searched online and in my area. It was shipped promptly. They covered the box so no one knew that it was a flatscreen tv. It worked great. No complaints. "

"I bought the 2GB SD card from Buy.com with $50 mail in rebate from connect 3D on 1-30-2007. Connect 3D went out of business and Buy.com refused to pay for the rebate. Lost $50 + Tax on this junk product. Buy.com will definitely lose my business forever!!"

Aggressively advertised by Buy.com, when the manufacturer defaulted on the rebates, Buy.com has defaulted on their responsibility though their customer service department had assured for months that it would be honored. Buy.com benefited from increased web traffic and sales as a result of their arrangement with Connect3D but now ignores liability to the consumer. Bye Bye Buy.com."
"Bought a flash drive from buy.com with a rebate. The manufacturer failed to honor the rebate and when buy.com was contacted, they just completely disowned it and failed to rectify the situation. Their CS is horrible at best. Beware.

"I bought a Connect3D 2GB SD card for $50 that Buy.com advertised as free after a Buy.com exclusive $50 mail in rebate. I sent in all the proper forms within the correct time period and yet my rebate check never came. This is because Connect3D went out of business. Buy.com accepted responsibility for a very short period of time and refunded the rebate amount to a small number of customers, but later decided to stop paying the rest of the unfulfilled rebates they advertised. Now I am out the $50 I was promised by Connect3D and Buy.com."

"Buy.com is generally a good merchant. BUT watch out for items with rebates!!! Buy.com heavily advertises "before rebate" and "after rebate" prices, along with links to print rebate forms. However, they do not follow through when the rebate center fails to pay the rebate. They fail to take ownership of the issue, despite their marketing of the rebate. I've been screwed out of $50. "

"Was sent an email about a free USB drive after rebate. However, never received the rebate. Finally I wrote to Buy.com with no response. I then filed a complaint with BBB and did get a response that there was nothing they could do about it since the manfuacturer went out of business. Would never shop there again."
