"Customer service is horrible!

I placed order for 3 desktop computers with XP Pro, I got them with Windows 2000 Pro. When I call customer service I get to the technical department, that transfer me to customer service department saying that they should be able to take care of you. Customer service transfers me to RMA department, saying that they can do the price adjustment for you. RMA first say they will transfer me to technical services, when I mentioned that I came here from there, they say they can take the items back, reinstall and ship them back to me (2-3 weeks before I will get the system and I will pay for return shipping for something that was their mistake) - Nothing more that they can do, no price adjustment, no reimbursements, no SORRY for doing the mistake!

I used to place a lot of orders through geeks.com, but one bad review makes me search for other options and luckily there are options out there!

"Geeks.com ships fast and responds to all calls or emails regarding technical problems or issues. When it appeared my product may be defective, they didn't hesitate to send me as RMA authorization. I've been pleased with the DVD burner I bought at half the price I woulod have paid at Fry's Eletronics."

"Ordered a Soyo 26" SYTPT2627AB TV on 10/6/2008 for $319.99 and on 10/8/2008 they had the TV as their 1 Day Deal for $199.99. Called customer service to ask if they could adjust the price for me and they said "no that is not their policy because it was a 1 day deal".

Edit: As an update, I contacted Kris at Geeks.com from one of the messages below who gave me a $50 credit, and then that evening his supervisor at geeks.com emailed me and gave another $70 credit. I'm very satisfied now.

"Comuter geeks.com is great! Even though My produtct arrived damaged (Fedex Threw it over onto my front balcony) I called them and they were more than accommodateing to resolve the matter. I was really surprised at how fast their solution was. You can bet ill be switching from newegg to computer geeks for all my parts from now on."

"A friend gave me a 100Ghb drive and I purchased the Bytecc IDE Enclosure. Backup was never so easy. It worked the very first time and I purchased 2 more for my other machines. Going to buy a couple of HD's for them soon. I would recommend them and computer geeks to anyone. Fast delivery, fair price."

"I wasn't a big proponent of online shopping until I found Geeks.com. I've ordered several items and have never once had any issues with the products, shipping etc...Even returning items. I've NEVER had any problems returning items. Call, get a RMA number and that's it!! Their staff is always professional and very knowledgeable of their products. If your looking for a very trust-worthy company to purchase anything (and I do mean anything, they have it all) then Geeks.com is the place for you. Keep up the good work...

"I’ve been a CompGeeks customer for about 10 years (or may be even longer than that – can’t remember precisely) and have never ever dealt with their customer service (since everything was fine) until recently. Several days ago I have purchased an item from them that didn’t seem to work properly. Therefore, I called CompGeeks customer service and was exceedingly pleased with their outstanding professionalism! The RMA number was immediately issued and the prepaid FedEx shipping label was e-mailed to me without any questions asked. Next day I decided to give a last try before shipping this item back to Computer Geeks for exchange. I have found that the problem was due to the misleading information in the User Guide that says that in the idle mode the “Status LED” should blink every 2 seconds, but in reality it doesn’t light at all making this device look like dead. However, in the active mode the “Status LED” really blinks every second, what is in accord with User Guide, and proves normal working condition of this device. Hence, I have canceled the RMA, but again I am very thankful for their service! Computer Geeks really rocks!!! I highly recommend them."

"Had a small problem with one item, I had ordered CD media, sent "music" disks by mistake..called the next day..problem was immediately fixed! NO hassle! Sending me a replacement at no cost to me and telling me to keep the music blanks too!
Geeks is always my first choice when buying Computer things online!

"The Computer Geeks web site has fantastic sales and the site itself is very well layed out and easy to navigate. The whole purchase was very easy and went smoothly. "I sent 5 emails to Geeks.com asking that they price match after they lowered the price on a product 2 days after I purchased it. I've done the same thing with Staples. Had no problem with Staples. Geeks won't return my emails. They clearly don't care. I'll NEVER order from them again. If you don't care about customers, you lose them, Geeks."

"Received the parts in good order and installed without an issue. But more important to me, I want to commend Geeks for the quality of their on-line and telephone customer service, of which I used extensively to figure out just what I needed to order in the way of parts. Their knowledge and expertise was amazing! They got me through a myraid of choices to get just the right parts, and even recommended a part that was much less expensive that what I had originally planned on buying! I go to Geeks first now.

"I ordered a Cyber Blue Bluetooth v2.0 USB dongle back in August 29th, 2008. I received the item 7 days after I placed my order. When I first tried it, my computer did recognize the USB dongle but none of my mobile phones detected it. Then, just to make sure I did everything I could do to make it work, I installed the cd that came with the product but I got no different result.

I first contacted this company September 7th, two days after I received the product. It's September 25th, I'm still here, with the non working USB dongle because I've written a couple of messages using both my email address and their web site's costumer service forms and I've gotten NO response. All I want is the RMA number you request the item to have to be accepted back so I can get my money back.

My total order was only $5.99 and the shipping was
$8.00. $13.99, shipping being the most expensive. Take note that the usb dongle is only 0.14 lbs. and not some heavy CD case or anything. Anyway, now, because of the defective product, I'll have to spend some more money to send it back, if I ever get a response, and will most probably end up with only cents after I return the item and they give me my money. Not exactly a refund.

Please don't shop here, I think they get more business out of scams like these than from actual sales. I'm just one of many people who, thinking this was a respectable company, shopped here only to get a non working item and being absolutely ignored. Thank God I didn't buy anything expensive.

I would love to know what happened 'according to your records' because I am entirely sure I did not get any emails from your company other than offers.

After posting on this web site, the company contacted me in less than a week and I really appreciate that. They sent four emails and by 11 PM, they refunded my money. Even though it did take some time and some effort to contact this company, I got all my money back, product AND shipping. Getting to customer service was really something but when I did, I saw you seem to care about your customers. I'll be glad to recommend your site and even do some more shopping myself in some time. Thanks!
