"Got caught in the same scam as the others. Recommend everyone stay away from this place."
"I am in the same position as the last few posts. Ordered a Samsung 170t LCD monitor. After a week they email me with a cancelled order. Very strange, considering their site listed well over 500 of these in stock. I will update this in a bit as to whether or not they refund my account. I will surely pursue action through the BBB and other legal means if i am not. BUYER BEWARE: AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!"
"I am in the same boat as a lot of these other guys. I too ordered a monitor during their free shipping period, and a week later they sent me an email saying that they cancelled my order. Of course, my credit card was charged immediately and I still haven't even received a credit. All I want is what I paid for.
For everyone else that got screwed, I suggest you do what I do: go ahead and send them an email and make sure you keep a copy. Then, file a complaint with the BBB. Here's the site you need:
http://www.bbbnefla.org/
That's the local BBS office in the area that these guys are located. In fact, they are members! Can you believe that? Anyway, here's their address witht he BBB:
EMS Computing Inc
3401 NW 98th Street #D
Gainesville, FL 32606
I've filed my own complaint with the BBB, and when you check their system, it shows that their files are being updated in regards to this company. I guess I'm not the first to file a complaint! I even checked the BBB before I ordered and they had a satisfactory rating, so I'm wondering what happened!
Anyway, if I find any more info, I'll post again!
Later...

I would highly suggest that if you have problems with this company that you file a complaint with the Florida Attorney Generals office as I have. Click on the following link to directly to the page:

"Same deal. 1.Order case; 2.Credit card charged immediately; 3.No communication; 4.Cancellation email received; 5.Product still in stock but $15 more expensive.
Have yet to receive credit as the 3-5 day promise has not expired. I will dispute the charge if I'm not credited by then. For those of you worried about having to pay interest on that amount, credit card companies will not apply finance charges to purchases made then credited at a later time. If you paid by debit card, you lose out on any interest you may have earned had those funds remained in your account.
These people are crooks and they'll never see my business again.
UPDATE: I just checked my credit card statement online and they credited my account today. At least they refunded my money as they promised. Still it doesn't excuse their shady practices."
"I ordered an Antec case from them during their supposed free shipping sale.
I never got the case, only respond was my order will be cancelled within 3-5 days.. Even though they didn't wait to charge my credit card."
"Purchased a set of Logitec Z540 4.1 speakers on Monday. Received shipping notice Wednesday, got the speakers on Friday. They weren't in the original box but were wrapped in plastic and looked new. Worked fine."
"I purchased a Sony CPD G520P from EMS and a few days later got the same message as everyone else.
"Dear Valued Customer,
We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order. In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused you, and hope we may be able to better serve you in the futue."
This was emailed to me on the 4th of this week. I am furious! I called them this morning but, got an answering machine. The message said that they are in the process of moving the business, and will be in operation on Thursday.
I will never purchase anything from EMS Computing in the future. Just like many of you here, I also have emailed Pricewatch about their dirty deeds but, have yet to get a response from Pricewatch. I think they should have pulled all EMS prices from thier site as soon as the 2nd email arrived. Sorry everyone for venting but, I am still awaiting my charge back so I can purchase another monitor from a reputable reseller.

"I purchased a Antec Case, A TDK VeloCD burner, and surrounds sound speakers from EMS. I hold the same story as everyone, Ordered products, debit card was charged (so money is already gone) heard nothign, received email saying it couldn't be shipped. I'm still waiting for my money back. If anyone ever receives thier credit for their products please post it. Thank you."
"I got scammed by EMS for a set of Altec Lansing 641s too. It's not worth the risk for the cheap prices. Now the money in my account is tied up and I can't order it from another store until this gets resolved."
"On July 29th ordered Samsung 753df monitor and Enlight 340w ATX case. They charged my card on the 30th, no response until August 4th telling me that my order was canceled. What freakin' BS! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Still waiting 3-5 business days to receive credit, not taking chances and have already informed credit company to dispute charges."
"Please email ****@**** for detailed information on how you can take action against these crooks!"
"Order placed the 26th, credit card charged the 27th, no product shipped for 5 days. Sent e-mail, no reply. I called, but there was a recording saying they weren't accepting calls. Waited another 3 days, sent another e-mail (angry e-mail) they cancelled my order and all I got was a copy and pasted reply, no human contact. Terrible company, STAY AWAY, no matter how good of a deal."
"Add me to the list of ripped-off. No email contact at all for me, just a credit card charged on 29 July for a 28 July order. I can't get them to answer an email I send to any address posted on their web site.
I had used them twice previously (Apr and Jun 01) and was pleased then. No longer the case.
Complaint filed with BBB; next step is FTC."
"I recently ordered a monitor from EMS Computing which I have not received. I am still waiting on my cancellation email. In the meantime, I sent an email to Pricewatch.com that goes as follows:
"Please take EMS Computing off your price list. They are ripping people off. Take a look at rellerratings.com and check out all the complaints. Is their any way you can ban them from advertising on your site? I recently ordered a monitor that I may not receive. Although I can not get into touch with them to get the status of my order. Thanks for providing a great service. You are my only source for finding great deals on the Internet."
I am hoping pricewatch will honor my request. I know my request would carry a lot more weight if many unhappy EMS Computing customers would do the same. A business can not flourish without sufficient advertising. It may be one more way to help put them out of business. I would have not known about EMS Computing had it not been for Pricewatch. I will definitely not be doing business with them in the future. "
"On July 24, 2002 I placed an order from emscomputing.com for a Samsung 753DF 17" Monitor. On July 26, 2002 I noticed they billed my debit card. I still had not received any tracking numbers, nor any confirmation on delivery status. I sent them an email requesting the status of my order, and a week later on August 4, 2002 received this automated response:
Dear Valued Customer,
We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your
product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order.
In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused you, and hope we may be able to better serve you in the futue.

This is poor business practices to bill the customer, when you know you are unable to deliver the product(s) ordered. Out of curiousity, I went to the EMS website on Sunday, and I noticed the 753DF monitor WAS in stock, and showing 854 On Hand, however the price went from 119.00 to 154.00. I went on the ems website today 8/6/02, and I noticed it is down to 129.00, and states usually ships in 1-2 days, and there are 482 pieces on hand in stock. How can they continue to take orders for this item?
This is a very shady operation. This is my first and last experience with emscomputing.com. I hope others do not fall for this scam. Since I dont live in Florida, I think it is going to be difficult to get my money back from these crooks. How can companies continue to do this? This is terrible, and even worse than my experiences with tigerdirect. Tigerdirect is still conducting business, likewise emscomputing... I guess as long as they can do it, and get away with it, this will unfortunately continue... :(
I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CREDIT ON MY CREDIT CARD AS OF YET. I received notice on 8/4/02 I will receive a refund on my credit card within 3-5 days. In the mean time they draw interest at my expense, and I am out $145.97! I plan to call my bank and report this as a fraudulent transaction. I will also follow up with the following agencies:
http://www.bbb.org/
http://www.complaints.com/
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/
http://www.ecomplaints.com/
http://www.online-consumer-complaints.com/
http://www.planetfeedback.com/
I hope that all of us will get our money back, and that these crooks go to jail.
Best wishes,
Buffalo, NY
** UPDATE 8/9/02: Well, today is the 5th day of the email stated "3-5 days for credit". I am off to my bank to dispute the charge as a fraudulent transaction on my debit card. My bank provided me with a handfull of paper (Dont you love the way you get punished for what they have done? Wasting alot of time to just get back the money they took for a product they didnt deliver). Anyways, my bank stated that it will take approximately 10 business days to do an investigation, and after that they will issue a temporary credit of 145.97 to my debit card. This is such B.S., and it is unfortunate all of the time and efforts I must go through just to get my money back. THESE CROOKS NEED TO GO TO JAIL, YES - CEO ALSO, AND WE NEED TO START SETTING EXAMPLES FOR THE OTHERS THAT MAY BE GATHERING IDEAS FROM COMPANIES LIKE EMSCOMPUTING SO THAT WE CAN PUT AN END TO ALL THESE SCAMS AND HELP FIX OUR ECONOMY. I also plan to followup with Florida Division of Consumer Services http://www.doacs.state.fl.us/~cs/ccform.html and BBB of Florida http://www.bbbnefla.org/.
Also, my bank asked me if I filed a police report. I told them no, and didnt know if it was necessary. She said it wasnt necessary, but maybe if I file a report it will speed things up?
If you have any suggestions, I am open for ideas!"
