"Ordered 7/27/2002. Credit card immediately charged. On afternoon of 8/4 received the following e-mail:
Dear Valued Customer, [yeah, right]
We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your
product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order.
In the unlikely event [count the ratings that were posted on 8/4 - they charged THOUSANDS of people] your credit card was charged, a full refund will be
posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize
for any inconvienience this may have caused you, and hope we may be able to
better serve you in the futue. [They must have used "futue" because they know that they have no "future"]
EMS Computing.com
They pulled a similar stunt on me once before and AMEX straigtened it out. Note that they no longer can accept an AMEX card. Now it is time to contact MasterCard and Visa. Without a merchant account, they are OOB."
"I ordered a roll of Cat5e cable during their free shipping promotion. It was impossible to get through customer service either by phone or e-mail. Under their site's terms of service, it says:
"You can expect your order to be processed within approximately one to two "business" days, provided the items are in stock and there are no problems with the payment verification."
and
"We accept Mastercard and Visa with no surcharge and your card is not billed until the product ships."
They charged my (and many other people's) cards a day after placing the order and yet never shipped the item. Since I lived in the same city as their main office I went there to see what was going on. They were in the process of moving out from a small office suite and were loading their U-Haul truck. I stopped and asked an employee about the orders and I was told their phone/computer system were being moved, their site was being redesigned, and they would begin shipping the following week. However, I also received the cancellation e-mail.
I have no problems with them moving/redesigning their site etc. However they couldn't have picked a worse time to concurrently run a promotion and as a result have to cancel hundreds of orders. The people I talked to seemed friendly enough (albeit young, most were college-age), but they really botched it up on the order handling. I would not recommend buying from them."
"I ordered an Antec 1035b case from EMS on 7/27 during their free shipping promotion. I received an order confirmation shortly afterwards and my cc was immediately charged. A week later my order was cancelled due to their inability to ship my order in a timely manner. I received zero communication from them in that previous weeks time. I will never order from them again and I will strongly suggest to everyone not to shop at EMS. They have lousy business practices and do not deserve anyones consideration when shopping for computer/electronic equipment."
"i ordered two monitors and was charged for the purchases. however, i received an email on 8/4/2002 saying they cancelled my order, after 6 days of no communication. i will never order from this company again, and i would never recommend this company to anyone else."
"Company, took order charged credit card, then took a week to say they were canceling the order"
"I have had nothing but trouble since I ordered from EMS. The trouble started when I ordered a set of Logitech Z-560's on the free shipping day. My credit card was charged immediately, and I was told my order was confirmed. One week later, without ever receiving confirmation of shipping or a tracking number, I got this e-mail:
We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order. In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be
posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused you, and hope we may be able to better serve you in the futue.
I went to EMS' website, to check the order number of the order they had cancelled (for Resellerratings).
When I went to the previous shopping carts section, there were three different orders, all for the same item! Two were at the free shipping price($122), and one was at the current price($167). Not only that, but when I went to order tracking, there was a fourth order, with a different order number than the other three, for $122.
I have had too many problems with this company to ever consider buying from them again. Regardless of how they used to do business in the past, they have lost my faith in them. "
"Purchased a case and speakers and got charged the next day. Then a week later, they send me an email stating that they will not be able to process my order and therefore it gets cancelled. If I get charged already, I expect my items to be shipped.. what kinda business practice is this? I would expect them to at least honor all the customers they have charged already.. terrible company to deal with. "
"Any rating over a ZERO is an gross exaggeration for an internet vender that should be driven off the net to a back alley distribution system. Make and break business promises on the street like you do via e-mail and see how long you last! "
"Ordered speakers at a good price, and then a few days later (my card had been charged the day after the order, but not shipped), I received an email stating that they canceled my order because they were backlogged. Not a good company to deal with."
"I got screwed like the rest of you...
Ordered an Antec Case which I will never see. Not to mention they have since raised the price of that case by $25.
Avoid EMS computing like the plague!!!"
"Bah! Same deal here! order cancelled... worst online order experience ever! they lost me as a customer forever... bad business people!! "
"EMScomputing has THE WORST customer service I have EVER seen. Just about a week after I order THEY finally sent me an email on my order status.
"Dear Valued Customer,
We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your
product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order.
In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be
posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize

I figured they had the best price from pricewatch.com and easily the best shipping rate. I will NEVER order from them again"
"EMS was having a free shipping deal over the weekend so I ordered a Samsung 955DF for $186 on Saturday night. People who took part in the deal found out that EMS was moving locations and what not. Today I just recieved an email saying they are cancelling my order because "We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your
product(s) in a timely manner." If i wanted to cancel my order I would've. Now i'm stuck without a monitor and the other deals that were going on are now over. "
"I had ordered hardware and software from several online resellers in order to build two new PCs. I had ordered the monitors for these new machines from EMS Computing, and I was very pleased with the experience.
First, of the four resellers that did not have the items I ordered in stock, EMS Computing was the ONLY one that bothered to contact me to let me know. From what I have been reading, poor or no communication is a serious problem that many resellers need to address. Fortunately, EMS Computing seems to be on the ball.
Second, when I ordered the two 17" monitors, I specified that they be shipped UPS ground. I was extremely supprised to find that when EMS Computing got the items in stock, they shipped them to me overnite. Personally, I feel this is excellent customer service.
Finally, the pricing was very good. Since I ordered the monitors, I have also orderd a couple of scanners, and I am hoping that I received the same level of customer service that I did with the last order. In any case, I think that the fact that I am continuing to do business with them speaks for itself.
I was supprised to find that their rating was not higher than it is. However, my recommendation would be to give them the benefit of the doubt. Typically, good service is not accidental. Good luck!"
"they have yet to ship my items to me, very bad seller"
