"Our granddaughter needed to replace her old iPhone 7. I did a lot of research and Gazelle.com seemed to stand out. Decided to go for an iPhone XR. Gazelle has three condition grades —fair, good and excellent. Ordered a good. Received it in four days with a new aftermarket charging cable and charger. If the phone we received is only good then excellent must be new in an unopened box. Condition was fantastic. In less than an hour everything was transferred over to the XR and it was up and running. If I ever need another phone replacement I’ll go directly to Gazelle. "
"Quote was instant, easy, intuitive. Shipping was free and simple to do. Instructions were clear and if something needed to be tweaked, I was able to do it with the push of button. For example, I was notified that our tracker was still active for the phone, and we got clear instructions on how to address the issue. There was frequent communication; for example, I was notified that the phone arrived, etc. And best of all, credit / payment was issued was quickly. All transactions, especially ones like these that have a lot of moving pieces to the process, should be this smooth."
"I wouldn't ever buy a used device but selling to Gazelle is easy, generous, and I got paid quickly. They even offered me more than they originally stated. "
"Ordered a phone that was listed as in stock, they missed the promised delivery without communicating the delay. I called in and canceled my order, which was not easy but was assured that it was taken care of and that I would see my refund in a few days. After a few days, I had no refund, so I called in again and was told that my order had shipped and that I could not cancel. I had to wait for the phone to arrive, call in and cancel AGAIN, and then process a return and drive to the post office to ship it back. I had to wait over a week after it arrived to see a refund...for a phone, I canceled a week before it shipped out! Customer support was very poor, they don't communicate, and their inventory on the site is NOT accurate. "
"Simply the worst. I ordered a phone 4 weeks before Christmas. That order status never changed. I called and emailed about a week and a half before Christmas. I played phine tag a bit and the email response was worthless. It basically said to call. I finally got through a week from Christmas. The guy was friendly enough and said the order got held up in the system and he would expedite a new order and fed ex it.... again the order never came. I called the Monday after christmas and their "senior rep" said they were out of the phone I ordered. I explained that I was upset because they had plenty back when I ordered them. I was upfront and said it would be appropriate in the given case to upgrade my phone. The best he offered was to upgrade from a good to excellent condition of which they still did not have any available. I then asked for a model upgrade and at first we would not entertain it. I then expressed my frustration with the fact he wouldn't even consider it. He then looked a single model up that had more storage space and it was not available. He then said he wasnt going to keep looking and he really did not want to do a model upgrade!!!!!!! I was floored. Thus company basically bait and switched me and he had the audacity to act like I was trying to get one over on him. At that point I asked for a refund. After he processed the refund he asked if I wanted a code for expedited shipping in the future and i almost lost it. However i kept my composure and left with my money.
I cannot urge you enough... do not deal with these people. I had heard other horror stories from folks at work but they had sold a phone not purchased one. DO NO RISK IT. They basically ruined my Christmas gift for my wife. "
"I ordered an Iphone Xs Max Tmobile unlocked, but when I got it it kept saying "Sim Not Supported" so I called Tmobile and they checked the IMIE number. Turns out the phone was locked to MestoPCS and the previous owner of the phone had to unlock it for me, which I can't do because I dont know the seller and Gazelle doesn't either. So I called them and asked for a refund, I did get my money back (which is why I gave them 1 star) but I am very disappointed in my purchase. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND MY LAST PURCHASE FROM GAZELLE."
"I would give zero stars if I could! After receiving bids, I sent two iPads during the first week of October 2020. About ten days later, I received an email saying that Gazelle was reducing one bid by 3/4 and the other to zero. I rejected the offers and asked to have my iPads returned. As of today, December 9, only one iPad has been returned. They appear to have kept the second iPad without paying me. I have contacted them twice in follow-up. They neither admit to still having my iPad nor claim to have mailed it. They've been totally deceptive and unresponsive. This company is a joke. Beware of doing business with them!"
"I bought a used iphone from Gazelle and the touch screen stopped working 2 months later. No rebate, no repair, no nothing. Last time I ever deal with them. "
"It was the easiest, fastest and best experience. In a matter of 4 days I sent my iPad to them and the money was direct deposit in my PayPal acct. I even had a surprise, they paid me more than what the initial quote was. I don’t know any other company that would be that honest to give more money than what they had originally told me. This is the second time I’ve use them and I will definitely be using them again!!! 100% ratings"
"I submitted a Galaxy Note 8 that had been received from Verizon as a replacement for a phone that was thought to be lost, but was later found. The Note 8 was either new or refurbished and in like new condition. Gazelle offered $160 based on the condition I reported.
However, they came back after their assessment and said:
Screen Doesn't Fully Light Up: We found that your LCD screen has some discoloration, defective spots or does not work properly.
Scratches: We found that the device has more than the acceptable amount of scratches.
The screen appeared to work fine to me and there were no visible scratches or blemishes that I could see before I sent it to Gazelle.
They lowered their offer to $57.
I think this was a bait and switch situation and I will not deal with Gazelle again based in this experience. "
"Phone sent in was in excellent condition, they downgraded it from $258 to $60. When asked they said "it was either scratched or damaged" but could not say where, after arguing they went up to $120 which was still less than half of the original quote. I took video and pictures of the phone when it was sent in too.
I had also purchased an iPhone XS from them in "excellent" condition. When it arrived battery health was at 95%. However within two weeks battery was at 70% health. Now 6 months later the phone will no longer power on, and understandably they won't do anything as I could have damaged it. However, I know I didn't. I have a feeling when I bring it in to Apple they will find non-Apple parts.
I had used gazelle 4 times before this. Twice to sell my phone, and twice for my wife's. Three of those times were flawless but also years ago now. In my opinion it seems they have gotten too big for their own good and don't seem to care about customer assurance anymore. I will choose from one of the many other options to sell a phone in the future. I will also most certainly never buy from them again."
"Recently bought an iPhone 7 plus rated as excellent. Arrived with ringtone glitch, told to return for another 7 plus. 2nd phone had keypad glitch. Returned it for a 3rd 7 plus..call me a sucker. Gazelle would not make any allowances for the hassle. Obvious that their assurance of a quality refurbishments phones is a joke."
"Tried to order an I pad but the $25 off would not apply so I emailed them, no answer in writing they want me to call and talk to them “at my earliest connivence“ the question is clear the answer simple, not for them Glad I checked the reviews!"
"Thank God I did my research beforehand. The company is even lying about their resellerratings from this website on their website. When I clicked to sell my phone and scrolled to the bottom they have that their resellerratings is 4.5 out of 5 with 12k reviews. However that is clearly not the case, on here it is 1.5 out of 5 with 13k reviews, a 1k difference in reviews is not going to drastically swing that rating pendulum. The company is clearly misrepresenting their rating on their website, they are bold. Good thing I checked on here before going through with anything. They should get sued for that kind of gross misrepresentation, crazy. "
"The title to one review was correct. Don't walk....Run from Gazelle! I was originally quoted $182 for good condition phone. Been in a case with screen protector all it's life. What a racket this company runs. I'm sure most people need the money right away and accept their low ball offers so they can double or triple their profit margins off you.
It was also a waste of over two weeks of my time. The processing dept also discarded my original Apple box which is valuable to many if I sold it to another company or on ebay. Also, the phone was not packaged safely in the return box. It was just thrown in the box with a crinkled piece of paper on top allowing it to slide all around. It would have much more secure back in it's box. The day I bought my new phone I was offered in person by AT&T and Best Buy much more than their $70. So when I got their original quote for $182, I obviously took it, but their offer was apparently too good to be true.
I ended up rejecting their counter offer, asked for it to be returned and sold it to Up Trade Technologies which upon inspection offered me $151. So obviously it isn't just my opinion that the phone was in much better condition than they stated. Save your time and go with Up Trade! "
