"They offered $130 for two older iPhones and changed to $37 when received citing nonexistent “scratches.” I had the phones returned and submitted to the Apple program and received their full offer of $120 in Apple gift cards. "
"I sent them an iPhone 7 in perfect condition for which the preliminary offer was $201. When they received the phone, they said it was scratched and reduced their offer to $89. The phone had no marks or scratches when I sent it and fortunately was returned in the same condition, although they discarded the original iPhone box I had sent it in and returned it in a plastic bag. Based on other reviews, this is apparently their standard operating procedure. Low ball the customer and hope they are desperate enough or lazy enough to accept the low ball offer. I wouldn't deal with them again under any circumstances.

"Sent in my old phone [in perfect condition] when I decide to upgrade to the latest and greatest iphone. It was marked for having heavy scratches although that phone spent it's entire life in a case and I used electronic cleaner and a microfiber towel to ensure it was brand-new looking when I sent it in. The offer dropped by $70. I made the mistake of accepting that offer before chatting with the rude customer service agent, Sadie, who apparently could not reverse my decision to accept the low offer minutes after I accepted it nor could she have them review their decision. Will never use this company and will never recommend. "
"I sent in my iPhone 6S+ to them after they offered me $97 for it. After receiving an email that they had received it they told me that my iphone was too damaged to sell, that they could not make a phone call with it and that find my iPhone off had not been turned off. After contacting support on three separate occasions and explaining I would like the phone mailed back to me they said it got sent to a warehouse. I called back and told them my updated address so I could have the phone back and it never came I received an email a week later that since the phone was not "usable" and that I didn't contact them back which wasn't true that they were scrapping the phone and giving me nothing back for it. I am highly displeased with the service I was given by support and I highly doubt I'll ever use this service again"
"Complete protection on iPhone SE and absolutely no scratches, dents, or cracks on screen or back of phone. Phone looks brand new, but they came back saying there were scratches and offered $36 (original offer was $96). Asked for the phone back. They are hoping you will just accept the offer, and then they can get a bigger profit when they sell your "scratched up phone" as flawless. I should have stuck with Declutter since I had a great experience with them previously! "
"I recently sent in my iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 Plus to Gazelle. I was initially offered $125 with the online offer for my Apple iPhone 6s and $264 for the iPhone 7 Plus. The online total would be around $389. I sent in my devices using the prepaid label and once my devices arrived at Gazelle, they gave me a poor adjusted offer once my devices was inspected. They, then offered me $122 for my iPhone 7 Plus and $57 for iPhone 6s. The iPhone 6s was in fair condition. It had a few scratches and a few blemishes. I accidentally accepted the $57 offer for the iPhone 6s and I wanted that phone re-inspected. I called customer service and explained briefly about my situation. The representative told me no, because it was too late, although it had been 2 hours once I accepted it. I then had asked for my iPhone 7 Plus to be re-inspected and after the re-inspection I was still offered $122. My 7 Plus was in flawless condition and there were not any scratches. I went online and selected the option to have the 7 Plus returned to me. I wasn't going to have it re-inspected again for the 3rd time. I had enough at that point. I was not at all happy with my experience using Gazelle. I felt intrigued and stressed after accepting the $57 offer. I believed the offers were too low once they were inspected."
"Purchased an iPhone XS max. Everything looked good out of the box. A few hours after transferring my SIM card my line was blocked by AT&T re: stolen/lost phone. Sending it back. Here's my beef....Gazelle goes to great lengths advertising how they don't market in stolen phones (electronic background check etc.) What they DON'T TELL YOU and what I learned by researching this problem is that some people sell phones to Gazelle that are STILL UNDER CONTRACT. If the original seller stops making monthly payments then the phone gets blacklisted, and that could happen ANY time AFTER repurchase. That is just as bad if not WORSE than a STOLEN phone (quickly determined), and WORSE than a phone that breaks (can usually fix broken ones). Gazelle won't own the problem after 30 days so then you are SCREWED. This is apparently not a rare occurrence and may explain why there is a HUGE PRICE difference between unlocked and locked phones they market. IF a phone is paid in full, unlocking SHOULD BE a simple, free, and quick procedure. If Gazelle wants their business model to work they better figure out a way to determine which phones they sell are not fully paid for by the original owner. I am REALLY DISAPPOINTED in that I have used them in the past (albeit for older phones) and had a good experience then."
"Sent 2 excellent iPhones, almost a month later I get an auto accepted offer of half the amount. Never got any email to decline offer, was given some BS reason for lower price. I know my phones, and the screens were perfect. Inspectors are a joke, so is their process. "
"Overall the experience was easy on my end, that is, following instructions, packaging and shipping. After my item was shipped, the company never reached out, not even to pay me. I had to email them weeks later and ask what happened. The only reply I got was a balance reply which was less than what was promised with no explanation. My item was in top shape and I followed their instructions and yet got ripped off. Beware."
"Gazelle initially lowered the quote on my immaculate iPhone 7, saying it had too many scratches. They offered to re-inspect, and confirmed the phone had no scratches but one of the speakers was inoperable. I took a stand and had them return my phone. Don’t hesitate to get your personal property back if you run into the common theme of Gazelle lowering your quote when you know the device is in better shape than they are claiming.
Upon receiving my phone back, all speakers tested just fine. Upon researching locations of speakers on the iPhone 7, it is my understanding the cutouts to the left of the lightening connector are for a second microphone, not speaker.
So, are we looking at dishonesty or incompetence here?

"Ordered a used iPad mini from Gazelle. A week later, it should've arrived already, but it still hadn't shipped. Sent an email, and 8 hours later during a normal hours, still had no response. Used the online chat feature to try to find out, and was told I had to call a long-distance number. Called and spoke to someone who said the product they were going to ship me failed inspection, and they were "looking for a suitable replacement". He said I should've received an email, but I double checked my mail and my spam and definitely didn't. Noticed there were quite a few others with minor differences(slight quality differences, or had LTE in addition to wifi), told the rep this, and he said he'd look into it and get back to me by the end of the business day. Five minutes prior to close of business, still hadn't heard back, and called again. Despite the slew of similar iPads supposedly in stock on their website, I was told there were no suitable replacements available, and to call back on Monday to discuss other options. Totally not impressed with dropping the ball on the order, and the lackluster customer service provided."

"Returned a 2 year old Samsung S8 which was in excellent working condition and had been wiped clean at a local Sprint store for what I though would be a $168 credit to Amazon. Received an email from Gazelle that I would receive 0 for my phone because of unacceptable scratches (there were none) and information left on the phone.
There is no appeal, no way to dispute Gazelle's position, and they get to keep and undoubtedly resell my phone for hundreds. I could see some reduction for an issue or two but to offer nothing in return convinces me this is a classic "bait and switch" business practice that needs to be investigated.
Sell your phones locally while they are still in your possession. Do not do business with Gazelle."

"I sent in 2 iPhone 6 plus that I didn't need anymore. both had been in cases since the day I got them. Neither one had a scratch or scuff. I replaced the screen on one because I could not get some residue from the screen protector off, and wanted to make sure I got the max $91 per phone. I would have rated both phones 10/10 when I sent them in.
A few days after sending them into Gazelle, I revived an email stating that both phones had scratched cases, total BS, and that one of the phones had a screen that didn't power on all the way, again absolute BS. They then offered me $48 for one, and $58 for the other... what a joke and waste of time, I could have made more off of Craigslist or Offer Up. Don't waste your time selling your phones to Gazelle, they will not give you the actual offered price."

"Gazelle,
I went to your website at the end of May 2019 and submitted an offer for you to purchase my very good conditioned, unlocked, iPhone 6s. The offer I received was $110; I was satisfied so I accepted and you promptly send me a shipping label. I packaged my very good conditioned, unlocked, iPhone 6s in bubble wrap and shipped it to you then I received a notification that my phone was received on June 4th.
That same day I received notification that my offer was adjusted to $53 because there were scratches found and it was locked to a carrier (AT&T). I thought this was a mistake as I took several pictures of the phone prior to shipping it and my carrier is not even AT&T.
I called customer service and ask that they reprocess everything as there must be some kind of mistake. The lady I spoke to was really nice and very apologetic about the situation so she went ahead and submit for the technician to evaluate again.
I receive another email on June 6th stating the exact same result as June 4th’s evaluation. I called you again and spoke to a very nice customer service individual and expressed my concerns. She told me if I wasn’t happy with the offer I could decline it and it would be shipped back to me. I declined the offer as I was sure there was a mix up of some sort. After a few calls back to gazelle inquiring as too when my phone will be shipped, it showed up at my home on June 20th.
Upon opening the box, I noticed scratches on the back of the phone that were not there when I shipped the phone to gazelle. The condition of the phone can be confirmed with pictures that were taken prior to the packing and shipping of this phone. Unfortunately, I now have a phone that is indeed damaged through no fault of my own and worth a fraction of what it was prior to landing in gazelle’s hands.
I’m unsure what happened during this process, however please advise how gazelle is going to make this right. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution to this issue."

"Submitted my galaxy s8+ for buyback. Phone was in like new condition, not blacklisted, had always been kept in high quality case with screen protector. Accepted their offer of 167 dollars and shipped it off. Sounds good right....not.
A week later I get a revised offer of 16.00 with the comment that it wont turn on or be activated. Obviously I was not happy told them to send back in the same like new condition I shipped it. I received it today it has obviously been opened up and whoever ever opened in crack the back cover trying to open it so now it is worthless for resale. Nice job Gazelle will never use again or recommend to anyone"

A rep from Gazelle, Gazelle - Senior Representative, has responded:
“Thank you for your feedback. Due to the fragile nature of used electronics, we carefully inspect the devices externally and internally. If you do not agree with the inspection, you can always contact us for further assistance, before accepting or declining the offer. Please DM us if there is anything else we can assist you with or answer.”
