"I bought both a motherboard and CPU for my friend to upgrade his build for Cyber Monday. Funny enough, he too thought the same thing and bought stuff for himself. Less than 6 hours from purchasing, I was unable to cancel or change my order in any way. I thought to myself "I can just return it when it gets shipped and get a refund," but no, the mobo ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS THE HOLIDAY SEASON could be refunded, the 200 dollar CPU could only be returned for replacement. So began my descent into the horrible customer service this company has. I tried for over 12 hours to get ahold of someone from the support team to simply cancel my order. The live chat queue was over 300 and sometimes 500 but after waiting until there was only 10 and even when I was 1, I'd be stuck there for literal hours. The texting service is closed so that was a no-go. Next, I tried calling them, which was also super frustrating. After calling 5 times and being told the network was busy, I finally got ahold of it and was told that I would be waiting for an estimated 1h 30m. I waited about that, but nothing still. Waited a bit longer, still nothing. I decided to give them my number for callback. About 2 hours or so passed before I got a call. Luckily the package hadn't shipped yet today and I could get it canceled. Once I got ahold of someone that process went very smooth though I feel I should credit the customer service representative and not the company since I was obviously very frustrated at this point. After 8 calls, 5 attempts at live chat waiting hours for me to be serviced, and 2 attempts at texting them as well as 2 DMs on Twitter to them, I got an order I ordered only 12 hours ago canceled.
Sadly, unless the deal is amazing and I know for a fact I want the item for years to come, I don't plan on using newegg again. I'm just happy I wasn't over 200 dollars in the hole."
