"Newegg has reasonable prices, but the most apathetic and mediocre customer service of any online retailer I've dealt with.

Past Experience:
I dealt with newegg a couple years ago, when I purchased most of the components for a new computer. They took a good 5 business days just to actually box and send it. It required posting a negative review on this site to elicit any kind of response - otherwise I couldn't actually get any kind of actual response from them. They actually did resolve this in a reasonable fashion at the time, however.

Current Experience:
I ordered an unlocked cell phone on a friday, and waited for shipment. They did indeed ship it out the following monday. The problem is they flat out lied about shipping times - I was informed that if I switched from the free shipping to paid shipping, I would get my order within 2 business days. Only after three emails and two phone calls did I finally get an honest answer: the shipping is 2-7 business days for the method I paid for. Ok, but this information is nowhere on their site.

Bottom Line:
Newegg would do well to provide accurate information in a place that people can actually find. A little transparency would go a long way. Just due to sheer aggravation, I will be very unlikely to order from them again.


Side note: See below the response that my original review elicited. It would be nice if I didn't have to resort to these means to be treated like a human being.

"Ordered 2 products, PC tower and 24' LED screen on Thursday. Packages arrived on Tuesday! Free super savings shipping on the tower as well. However nobody was available to accept the parcels. Puralator attached a note to my door, a quick call and a reschedule was in order, saving me a 2 hour round trip, pro! Packages arrived the next day as stated. Both PC and monitor were encased in double boxes, plenty of foam and plastic to spare, great packaging. Within minutes I was at the Windows 7 setup screen. All items in fully working condition, 0 dead pixels! Fast, reliable and my Mobo has usb3.0 / sata 3, nice surprise.
A++, Highly recommended. Once you know, you newegg.

"My order was sent in two packages; one with my computer case, and the other with various other parts. The computer case arrived perfectly fine, but the other package that arrived was very much not my order, complete with a packing slip clearly addressed to another customer.

At this point I emailed Newegg customer service to inform them of the error. They issued me an RMA number with instructions that I would have to ship it to a certain address at my own expense. I did so, only to receive ANOTHER RMA number literally hours later, the original (the one that was taped to the outside of my now shipped package) now void. I informed customer service of this error and they assured me that they would make a note that the numbers would be different.

It has been over a week since my RMA package was delivered to Newegg, and there has been absolutely no indication that it was received or processed. Contacting Newegg only netted me an assurance that my shipping costs would be reimbursed "after 24 hours [from receiving their reply]", and two days later even that hasn't come to fruition, never mind the fact that this didn't address my original problem.

After I made this review I was contacted by another customer service representative and had the issue resolved speedily and to my satisfaction.

"Excellent website for shopping -- crazy product details & specs, reviews are great too. Fast shipping, though box was a little mushed in by courier -- could have had more styro. peanuts. 10% cheaper on core PC components than competitors.
My only beef. US$ is close to 'at par' with CAN$, but prices between Newegg.com & Newegg.ca do not reflect this. And shipping actually comes from L.A, which took slightly longer than expected.

"When it comes to online shopping, NewEgg.ca is one of the most smooth sailing websites I've come across. They have sweet deals, and tons of sales. It's really refreshing to have such great online retailers in Canada now.
If I have a thought about buying computer components, or other electronics and the like, NewEgg is definitely one of my go to places. I have never ever had an issue, their shipments are so fast, that sometimes it's hard to imagine how organized everything must be there.

"Bought a $400 replacement RAID card that I needed ASAP, chose fastest available shipping - Purolator international express (Purolators site boasts delivery by the end of 2nd business day, Guaranteed!).

I'm 4 business days in with no card. I call Purolator, they tell me the card is in BC (I'm in Toronto), it's shipping ground, and will be here in a week. I call Newegg, to find out why the *@(# I paid for "Purolator International Express" to have them ship it ground, must be a mistake, right?!

Nope! The operator calmly informs me "thats not what our contract with Purolator guarantees. UPS does Saturday delivery for example, but not for our contract". Thats great, you guys are saving some money. But when you sell a express service to your customers thats well known and effectively industry defined, then secretly change the terms, and have the customers items shipped ground? Thats a scam. Would you sell "UPS Overnight" service, and have it delivered UPS 3rd day and consider that acceptable because you have a special contract with them as well?!

I will avoid Newegg.ca for any items which are time sensitive from now on, clearly they cannot be trusted to deliver.

My review had *NOTHING* to do with regards to weekend shipping, I was quoting what your rep said to me, as her example of "special contracts". Purolator clearly defines what its "International Express Shipping" constitutes, here: http://www.purolator.com/products_services/international_express.html

"Purolator offers guaranteed delivery by the end of the second business day [...]". When your checkout gives me the option to pay for "Purolator International Express Shipping", I expect to receive that, nothing more, nothing less, not some other unrelated service that you've redefined somewhere else in your terms. You missed the point entirely.

"I setup my price alert at newegg.ca and received my email when this item's price is reaching my price target. I ordered right way online, and I can't believe it's showing off in my front door next day within 24 hours. it's weight more than 40lbs, and newegg only charge me $3.99.
The item I ordered is my dream PC case and I was waiting for it almost an half year. Thanks newegg's price alert system let my dream become true.
Not only that, the newegg's customers service is excellent. When I opened my box after received, and checked my PC case I ordered, I found one of the top 140mm exhausting fan was broken. Since It's only one exhausting fan broken, and I don't want to return and exchange the whole big PC case. After I contacted their costumer service and complain about that, they responded very quickly, and would like to cover my return cost and send me an new one. But I choose to keep it as courtesy since newegg will issue me $15 gift card. I think this way it's fair for both of us.

"Amazing to deal with! I ordered a printer only to discover upon its arrival that it was USB only and not networkable. My error. I contacted the Newegg and they said 'no worries - we'll send you an RMA number and then you can return it for a full refund' - no restocking fees, no shipping fees - amazing. Did they buy themselves a long term customer - yuppers!"

"This is going to be my second time personally ordering from Newegg.

I bought an Asus laptop last year, was very impressed with the price, and I'm about to sell it now, 1 year later, as I just bought a nice 1,500$ desktop.

Customer service was awesome for me twice so far in checking minor details. I've already made 3 friends buy laptops off of Newegg within the last year.

I got my package 4 days later. Impressed. I even had to run out and buy a digital cable for my monitor to fit my video card - I have to return it now, because Newegg even sent me one in case I didn't have it.

The only thing that I could say went "wrong" is that one of the fans in the tower wasn't connected, but that's probably because I had to remove foam from the tower and plug it in myself.

It was a bit of a hassle, the wires were really tight and not very good on length, but I managed.

I love it so far, everything runs smooth
