"Place an order for the hard drive (see other unhappy customer comments), using a coupon/flyer given to me in the store in San Jose, CA which was out of the drive. I was told that I could order on line and it would be delivered free.
I placed the order and got a delivery date. Delivery date came, no delivery. I called up "customer support" and was told my order was cancelled because of an illegal coupon.
In conclusion, I will not do business with these incompetent and inconsiderate people again."
"I purchased a hard drive from them on Saturday with an $80 off coupon. The deal was too good to be true, and I fully expected it to be cancelled. However, when I went to the website, I saw "Delivered Short Shipped" which confused me. The word "cancelled" wasn't there, which I expected. After talking to a very nice customer service representative named Patrice, she advised me that meant that the item could not be shipped for an unknown reason. (Meaning "Selling a 160G drive for $70 is us losing money)
All in all, their phone service is great, and I have no problems with it. My complaint is that they did not send me an email informing me the item was cancelled. For a major retailer like Office Depot to not email or call and let me know the order was cancelled is inexcusable."

"It let me put items in the basket, allowed coupon # entry, the order showed "Your coupons are valid," then later, disallowed the coupon. I call this "bait and switch." Shop at Staples"
"I had the worst experienc with office depot. Here is what happened:
1. I placed a order for philips DVD+R 25 pack spindle (buy 1 get 1 free offer)
and
2. Some paper clips
Soon after I placed my order I did get a confirmation that the order will be fulfilled on Dec 30, 2003.
Their website stated that the shipment was delivered on Dec 30, 2003! I got the paper clips by UPS on Jan 5th but not the philips DVD+R - When contacted customer service informed me that the item is not in stock and is backordered. I asked how come I was not informed that the item is backordered - In reality their order confirmation stated that the shipment will be delivered on 12/30/2003. The customer service had no response and she told me that the item is not guaranteed to be available sooner!
This is a good example how bad the shopping experience can be!"
"Email response to my order says I would get it on 12/30. On 12/31 I called and they said order would go out through third party shipper and it was just pickked up that day! They gave me UPS tracking numbers and it looks like it may be delivered next week! So much for free delivery in 48 hours. If you are not buying it in the store, skip it. "I ordered a Maxtor 80GB hard drive which was on sale with a rebate. I also used a $15 coupon which I found at a coupon website. The hard drive was not in stock and was backordered. I waited a week and then I checked the order status online. It said "Delivered Short Shipped." I called customer service, spoke with two different people and neither one could tell me what that meant. Anyway, I was told my order had been cancelled. I had NEVER been notified. I found out that they had received over 100 hard drives in stock. The customer service person said I would have to reorder. I told them I wanted the order I had standing to be honored. (Reordering would not honor the coupon since it had already been used.)
I have emailed Office Depot's customer service twice since 12/19 and as of today, 12/31, I have not received a reply. I do not plan to ever shop at Office Depot again! Very poor customer relations.
**UPDATE: I was contacted by Office Depot's corporate customer relations office. They apologized and told me they are going to fulfill my order."
"I ordered an on sale Motorola T5820 which was not in stock when I ordered. I was able to place my order and OfficeDepot said they would ship it when the radio came. However, it never arrived. The online order status showed it's "Delivered Short Shipped". I called them to check what it meant and was told the radio was discontinued and would no longer be in stock. Later I realized that T5820 was still available on their web and it was in stock. I called OfficeDepot again to inquire my order and they refused to honor the on sale price!"

"The absolute worst on the internet. I placed an order for a Palm Tungsten E. They charged my card, and gave me a tracking number. The order never arrived.
