"I ordered some new office furniture from Office Depot. In the beginning I thought everything was fine. Free Shipping sounded great. Delivery in 2 days sounded even better. So I get up on Friday morning and check my order status on the web site and it states that my order is on the truck. Great, I call into work and arrange to take the day off so I'll be here when the truck arrives. Office Depot is only a 15 minute drive from my house, I don't know where the warehouse that the order is being shipped from is. I wait patiently until 4PM and still no delivery truck so I call customer service to see if the status of my order has changed or if there is a problem with delivery. The representative on the phone tried to be helpful but after she checked on my order and even called the warehouse, the best she could do was to tell me that my order went out on the truck and maybe they were just running late. After that I sent numerous emails to customer service asking about the status of my order and when I should expect delivery. As of now not a single email has been replied to and my order that was supposed to be here on 11/7 is still listed as being on the truck on 11/9. I have no idea when it will be delivered and I cannot take off time from work in the hope that it may arrive on Monday. I don't know what to do now about having someone here to receive the order.
Update: My order finally arrived on 11/11 and Office Depot apologized and knocked 15% off the bill for my inconvenience. I give them credit for trying to keep a customer satisfied and am changing my rating accordingly. I may give them another chance for my business in the future."
"I ordered a printer from Officedepot.com. All aspects of service were excellent except for shipping. The printer was shipped in its retail box. There was no invoice or receipt attached to the box. The outside of the box was bent up and the stryofoam holders on the inside of the box were all broken. Now - the printer inside appears to be in good working condition - although I am waiting on a USB cable to test it. Although I realize that the fault may also lie with UPS, I think the shipping process may need change."
"Purchased a wireless router from Office Depot because it was a great deal with the rebates. I received my product and went to fill in the rebates, only to find that one of them was unavailable. I contacted the customer service department and after being bounched around several people and 40 minutes later, they could not give me any information. I was told the customer is responsible for printing rebates themselves, and if you missed the deal, then it's too bad. This item has been returned and I have purchased from amazon.com instead."
"The best attribute is fast shipping. Order placed on Friday, goods delivered on Monday. Price is comparable with Amazon.com after coupon. But Amazon takes weeks to ship."
"Ordered a slot fan late monday afternoon & got it friday. Item was as should be,price was good & no shipping. I'm happy."
"I ordered an office chair at 50%off after getting a spam email. I used a $10 coupon and got the chair for half of what it sells for in the store or at Staples. Came the next day as scheduled and was in perfect order."
"After seeing the D-Link DI-614+ wireless router at bensbargains.net with a $15.00 instant coupon and (2) rebates, I headed over to OD and placed my order for (1) on August 31,2003. I already own one and love it, so I was getting this one for a friends system I am currently building.
I received an order confirmation rather quickly also on 8/31 with an estimated delivery date of 9/10/2003.
I was charged, after the $15.00 instant coupon, a total of $68.75! I was pleasantly surprised to see a UPS delivery guy show up on 9/3/2003, just 3 days after I ordered it, with my OD order! Everything perfect so far, including the new DI-614+, and EXTREMELY FAST. Now, all I have to do to keep this a perfect order is to send in and receive the other (2) rebates for this item that total another $50.00 off ... making the total I should have to spend a MERE $18.75 for an awesome wireless router! Hopefully I won't be placed through rebate hell on this one, as I've already amassed over $800.00+ in rebates this year alone, and have collected all but about $100.00 of them so far, with no company giving me any problems!"
"I placed an order online yesterday for the 256mb pc2100ddr ram chip (needed one fast, and that was the best deal I found anywhere for namebrand ddr ram) and an "adjustable secretary task chair" (item # 536-888) that was advertised as $24.99, with a $12.02 mail in rebate, or $12.97 after rebate (nice enough price for a cheap-o chair).
My order arrived today, while I was at work, so when I get online, I go to the OD website to print out the rebate forms. No problem finding the rebate form for the ram, but lo and behold, no joy on finding one for the chair.
After an hour and 15 minutes on the phone with:
1. OD customer service, who says they can't find it either, please call the rebate center (also an 800 number)
2. The rebate center number that OD csr gave me, which says no one answers this number, call this other number (also an 800 number)
3. The second rebate center number, where, after 10-15 minutes, I finally get to talk to someone that says I have to talk to a rebate center csr that deals exclusively with OD rebates, and can you please call this other 800 number?
4. The super-special rebate center csr that deals exclusively with OD rebates, who tells me, "we don't have the rebate forms here, you'll have to call OD customer service"!!! ACK!!!!
5. Back to OD customer service, where I ask for a manager, and get Sheila the csr that knows for sure she can help me. Okay, it's only been about 45 minutes on the phone now, I'll be nice and see what she can do for me. Sheila looks and looks and looks, and finally says, "OH! That's an IN STORE ONLY deal!!". No, it's not, says I.......I have the ad right here in front of me, and nowhere does it say that near that item. We argue back and forth for a minute or so, then she finally tells me that she's going to call my local store and see what she can do for me. Sheila comes back about 7 minutes later, and says she spoke with the manager at my local OD, and they're going to do me a favor, and print out a copy of the mail in rebate from the register for me.
However, without a register receipt to go with that, I just KNOW it's gonna get rejected. Oh, and I either have to drive across town to pick up this useless rebate form, or they'll mail it to me (oh, and by the way, it has to be postmarked by the end of the week, in order to qualify for the rebate). She makes certain to tell me that this is a one time good deal she's arranged for me.
Gee.......uh.......thanks, but no thanks!!
I hold my temper, and tell her that while I appreciate all the hard work she's done for me, I'm still screwed. Nowhere in the ad does it say this rebate is for an in-store only purchase. The rebate form, while welcome, is useless to me. Oh, and if I had wanted to drive across town to get the stupid rebate form, I would've gone there to get the chair and the ram in the first place!!
Here's what you're going to do for me, Sheila. You're either going to provide me with an internet address where I can download and print a rebate form, or you're going to credit back my card for the $12.02 that I'm due from the rebate. She tells me she's not authorized to do that, as only a manager can do that. Gee, didn't I ask for one of those 20 minutes ago, when you first got on the phone with me?????? Why don't you go find one now, and get them on the phone?????
Finally, about 8 to 10 minutes later, she tells me that the manager has authorized her to credit back my card for the $12.02, once again, and a one time courtesy to me. Gee, Sheila, thanks ever so much for bending over backwards for me!!
If this is what Office Depot calls "customer service", I'd say it's time they take some lessons in quality of service!! I've placed hundreds of dollars in orders through OD, but I'm going to seriously give a second thought to ordering from them again, if cruddy CS is the best they can manage!!"
"I made an order with Office Depot over the phone because their computers were down. I made is on the 8-16-03. I recieved my order today and my invoice says i made it on 8-19-03. I was wanted to use a rebate which expired on 8-16-03, but my invoice says the 8-19-03 so it wouldnt work. I gave them a call and they were no help at all. They gave me a bunch of bs and said they couldnt do anything. I will never order from here again. "
"I bought two items from OfficeDepot.com and was able to use a discount ticket. Unfortunately, one of the items were out of stock, even though it said it was in stock when I initially ordered it, so they knocked off some of the value of my coupon, and I actually lost some money because of that. After giving them a call and sending them an email, I got an email back in about 25 hours, and two more emails following the first one. In the end (three days later), they kindly helped me out by giving a small gift certificate for my troubles. Good company that actually seems like it wants to help you out. Recommended =)"
"This was a quick order, Placed the order on Sunday, recieved it on Tuesday."
"Extremely quick shipping, product was as described."
"No problem with my order. Bought a hard drive with a $15-off coupon code that brought the price down to very competitive (less than newegg) and a $30 rebate will make it a great deal. Arrived via UPS within two days.
Seeing all the negative comments about OD customer service here, I can't believe someone high on the OD food chain hasn't reviewed this site and put a stop to that kind of crap. Maybe they think they're too big to worry about good customer service (although their B&Ms don't seem that bad -- but that may be because there's always a Circuit City or other competitor nearby)."
"Purchased a Chair and Mat from them with a coupon and the items delivered the next day early in the A.M. Some of the washers for the chair were missing but not fault of OD. Have bought DDR RAM, CDRWs, and now furniture from them without any problems."
"I just received the worst service ever from an e-tailer. I ordered the product and called soon after to see if I could change the shipping address. Apparently the late night staff at tech depot is staffed with angry telephone operators that put people down and hang up on them without the offer of help. Worst yet, because of the horrible operator I encountered, I called back to cancel the order and they have no record of it. Three different telephone numbers and I cannot get anyone at the company to help me out. Even when I asked for a supervisor, one operator refused to transfer me. I assume that when operators and supervisors refuse to speak with a customer, they have many customer service problems and this negative feedback will have no difference in the matter."
