"Absolutely THE worst online shopping experience I've ever had. Ordered a monitor online for in store pickup, drive to the store and... guess what ? they don't have any more and will not get another one. They refused to ship one to me. The manager said there was "no way" he could do that. Then he tried to sell me the floor model (for full price!) which had a dent in the corner (i.e. good luck using the warranty). Then they said they could not cancel my order from the store, the manager told me I had to do it myself over the phone. After 15 minutes on hold and getting nowhere with the CSR and a manager, the order was FINALLY cancelled. They gave a story about how the online ordering system and the store inventory system are not in sych and its possible to order something online for in store pick up and the store doesn't have it. AVOID OFFICE DEPOT, they will sell you things they do not have."
"I ordered a shelf from Office Depot and showed up as shipped three days later, didnt receive it so called them up but then they said it was not in stock yet they did not bother to contact me through email or phone. I requested a refund (god knows how many times Ive called) over a month ago and I have yet to receive it. They ignore all my emails and their reps try to get rid of you on the phone as fast as they can. These guys are a bunch of crooks, avoid them. Either that or they have a reeeeeally slow and incompetent staff."
"Ordered a laptop 3 weeks ago, was told by the store that it would take no longer then 14 days to receive it. Called last week, which was the 2nd weeks, they then told me it should take no longer then 3 weeks from the purchase date. Still have not received it and they have no idea when it will ship. Customer service is horrid."
"Have always had a positive experience with OD. Availability of items is sometimes spotty, but this is for sale items mostly.
Order processing and delivery is pretty fast."
"I participated in a deal whereby I bought some copier paper and received a free gift: a mini-fridge. At first they told me the fridge had been delivered, but when I asked them to prove it, they said I wasn't going to get it because it was "while supplies last". When I pressed this, they noted that I shouldn't have received this free gift anyway, so I won't be getting anything, even though their invoice clearly shows that I was to receive it and that they were going to ship it, with stock available at the time of purchase. Total scam!!"
"Officedepot.com is absolutely horrible!! Please do yourself a favor and find another store. Every single time I order from these fools, they cancel my order. Its VERY frustrating dealing with these morons. They don't give me a reason why the order is cancelled. They just cancel it. I consider myself as a HEAVY tech purchaser... and I do not have tolerance for such unreliability. I give this "store" an F and hope that they go under one day and give an oppurtunity for someone worthwhile a chance in the market."
"I ordered a laser printer with several coupon delas and discounts (free auto emergency toolkit, free 5" TV and $10 off coupon). I was not at home in the delivery time, so my sister signed for the delivery. After returning home I found out that there is no printer in boxes, just the free stuff from coupon deals and the laser paper I also ordered. By the moment I called 4 times to their CS; one time they put me on 20-minute silent hold so I hung up; the rest 3 times CSR promised to inquire warehouse, and they actually did. 2 times I received calls from warehouse, both times I've been told that tey will investigate what's going on and call me back in 1-2 hours, and both times nobody called back. Last time I've been told even, that the driver remembers that he delivered the laser printer! Now I'm waiting for them to call me again (probably to tell me the same lies)."
"DO NOT order from Office Depot under ANY circumstances! This company is atrocious! I have tried for nearly 2 weeks to order a Canon laser printer. First, I tried to buy one in-store. It was on display, but not currently in stock. After inquiring about ordering the item the manager notified me that he was placing a "virtual rain check" for the item. I asked if he needed any of my information (address, phone #), he said he did not. He also stated that the item should be on the truck the next morning, because the computer showed that they had the item at the warehouse. I contacted the store three days in a row and each day was told that the item didn't make that day's truck, but was assured that it would be in "tomorrow." Finally, I decided to try to order this item online from http://www.officedepot.com and hopefully have more luck. I placed the order and received a confirmation email stating that the item was in fact in stock and that I should expect delivery within 5 days. I checked my order status periodically, which stated that the order was in the warehouse ready to be shipped. Today I was supposed to receive the order but it never arrived. I checked online order status and it stated "Delivery Short Shipped." The order status indicated "Backorder Items: 0" I called their customer service automated system. After giving the order number, much to my surprise it stated that the item had been delivered to my residence. I called back and talked to a person this time. He stated that he "... didn't know why they use that term 'delivered short shipped'", and didn't know exactly what that meant, possibly back ordered. I told him that the order status clearly stated "backorderd quantity: 0" I also asked why I wasn't notified that the item wasn't going to be shipped, and why their automated system was falsely reporting that the item had been delivered to me. He didn't have any answers for me. I asked to speak to his supervisor, who was unavailable for comment. I told them that I would NEVER again buy another item from Office Depot. I highly, HIGHLY suggest that you do not either."
"Placed an order through Amazon.com for Office Depot items. Realized I needed to cancel due to wrong info. submitted. I tried unsuccessfully to do this online and couldn't even get the site to acknowledge my order number. Called customer service and was informed that you cannot cancel an order that was placed at amazon.com. I would have to wait for the order to arrive and then refuse it and they would give me a credit when they receive it back. I told them that UPS would just leave it at my door if I wasn't home at the time of delivery, so I wouldn't have the chance to refuse it and there is no local UPS store so what was I to do then. They informed me that I would have to call UPS and have them come out and pick it up. All of this agrivation because they can't simply cancel an order. I have never heard of such a thing as not being able to cancel an order 1 hour after it has been placed. Their customer service people were very polite but basically I'm just out of luck and not very confident that I will receive a credit on my credit card, especially after reading all of these reviews. Their slogan is "Taking care of Business". They must be refering to the business of ripping people off!!!!! So glad I found this site so I know that I'm not the only one that is having a problem with them. Their rating at Amazon.com is pretty good (and deceiving)."
"I have ordered many times from OD. Office supply stores always have some of the best prices on tech items and software, especially since many discounts such as price matching, coupon codes and rebates are readily available. Of course, the selection of tech items is somewhat limited as compared to electronics stores. Free shipping on $50+ orders, even on heavy items such as chairs and monitors. Items delivered in excellent condition, usually within two days. Easy-to-use web site with accurate item descriptions and all rebate forms readily available. Lately, almost all rebates have been received in the time promised. My biggest complaint is that the best sale items become out-of-stock quickly, often within the first few hours, never to return during the sale/rebate period. Overall, highly recommended."
"I ordered items that are not available in store and used to pick them up at store. They charged me 6.50 to deliver them. Tiny key tags could have mailed for $1.00 came in a big not well closed box. Will not do this again."
"Impressed by the relative quickness at which an order can be delivered. Even if not near an Office Depot, the site is more than willing to ship an order expediently by another shipping service to get it there by the delivery date.
Very smooth transaction with no problems encountered at all. Quick delivery with good service."
"Order was confirmed and email confirmation recieved informing product was ready for pickup at store.
Order was not yet in store's system and the item was not in stock. Managers cancelled the Order in store.
Sad to know that a big corporation like Office Depot is failing to kee up standards and sell items they themselves dont have.
It hinders ones ability to plan.... the order could have been fulfilled someplace else if the company would have notified prior to ordering."
"This happened twice this year. I ordered something online and did in-store pickup. Once I got to the store, each time I had to waited 40 minutes for them to search for the merchandises that I ordered. The first time, she brought an open-box(even the static bag was opened) disk drive and told me it was never used and refused to mark it down. So I left. The second time, I was told the desk lamp was out of stock after waiting for 30 minutes. This is the store off New Hampshire Ave. in Maryland. Watch out for that Indian manager, she is mean and rude. I will never step in that store again."
"I placed an order on september 5th that was due to be delivered on the 8th. Now, it seems that office depot (at least in baltimore) just hires a guy in a van to deliver packages for them. I called on the 14th because i still hadn't received the package and the status showed "on the truck" since the 8th. They said they would try to deliver it again. The van driver called me a couple days later saying he couldn't find the mail room on my campus and he needed a building number. I told him that there was no building number and told him how to get to the mail room. He replied by saying that he would call me monday at 10am so i could, i assume, repeat my directions. He called monday, but i couldn't answer, and left a message saying asking again how to get there. I left him a voice mail explaining again how to get there, and i never heard back nor did i ever receive a refund. I checked my account on the web site and saw that there was a second fake order in my account that just said "delivery refused", though the order that i actually put in said "delivered".
I called customer service 10/7 and told them the story. i received no sympathy for their screw up, but got a refund no problem.
I may order from there again, but not if i know it will just be their delivery guy."
