"I ordered a book from Barnes&Noble on Sept.23rd & ussually they have 2 business day to ship! When I got it, I look the USPS tracking # & they only register with USPS on Oct. 5th! Maybe the book is the right conditions but the sending/shipping too LONG!!! That is what happens when you are too BIG & you sacrifice customer service!!!"
"I needed the book for school and ordered well in advance so I would receive it in time. Not only did I receive the book late, it was also damaged. When I contacted the seller, I was told that I could settle for a 15% discount or send the book expeditiously with delivery confirmation and my shipping costs will be refunded. I opted to send it back which was very costly because I live in Canada and was sending the book to the US. The book was received by the seller within 4 business days. I sent a reminder of this a few days later and heard nothing. After another unanswered e-mail I filed a claim with Amazon. My order was refunded, however, the shipping costs were not. I contacted the seller several times and never received a response. Not only did I lose $15 for the shipping, I also had to buy the book from the bookstore for a much higher price, not to mention the hassle of mailing the book back and the general stress of dealing with crooks that have no regard for their customers. As a student, I could have bought a week's worth of groceries for my self. Absolutely shameful behaviour on the company's part."
"It is so embarrassing and frustrating that we live in a country where communication is at our fingertips…but textbooks.com: SuperBookDeals makes it so difficult for me to find out the status of my book. The book was ordered on Sept. 1, 2010. It is now, Sept. 21 and no book nor status. I borrowed the book from another graduate student..I don’t need the book any more, I wish I had never ordered it. Can someone give me the number to Textbooks.com? Thanks. Never mind the phone #, I managed to talk to someone. Can't track book...stated that should arrive 28 Sept. Who is delivering it? A turtle? "
"Like everyone else, I placed my order through textbooks.com which is extremely reliable if the books come directly from them. The book was"shipped" 2 days later, well here we are 3 weeks later and no book, I could have walked across the country and picked it up by now myself. there email is horrible and auto response only, I had to dig through phone calls with textbooks .com to get the right order number, DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY..I have purchased the book at school bookstore and if and when the book does finally show up I will return it for refund, that should be interesting."
"Wow, I guess I was lucky to get the book I ordered. However, the book was delivered to an incorrect address and I had to pay to have it shipped to me. Customer Service is useless. I heard from "Pam" as well who could only give me canned answers to automated questions. I will avoid them from now on."
"This bookseller is horrible. Don't waste your time ordering from them, no matter how good the price seems. I placed an order with Superbookdeals through the Textbooks.com Marketplace. I received an order confirmation from Superbookdeals and then a link to track the order from their site. I agree completely with the other reviewers here - the 12-digit order code they mention does not exist. No code worked on their on-line order tracking system. I had to search for somewhere to send an email, since order confirmation email specifically says you cannot reply to the message. Of course, they give you no other method by which to reach them. Once I had another email, it took about 48 hours to receive a message - a canned response about allowing 4-14 business days from date of shipment to receive the book (via USPS Media Mail). Then again, no way to respond to the email. All I wanted to know was WHEN the book was shipped. I'm perfectly capable of doing the math from there to determine when I might receive the book. I then found a phone number in Maryland - no answer after letting it ring at least 30 times. No voice mail, either. I then went through another series of 3 email exchanges with the mysterious "Pam" at their customer service department, who could not answer the very basic question of "When was my book shipped?". I found it interesting and disturbing that each time I received an email from them, the name on the email changed - the last email I received had Barnes & Noble/SBD in the From field. I wonder if B&N knows this scam company is using their name to feign credibility? Anyway, I finally received the book the day before I needed it. But rest assured, I will never again make the mistake of using this company. I will also think twice before ordering from a re-seller on one of these marketplace sites. You are better off dealing directly with one of the big sites, like Amazon, B&N, or Borders. Buyer beware. "
"I wished I had read the reviews on SuperBookDeals before ordering from them. Absolutely my worst experience in ordering online! Took forever to get my item shipped. Then when I finally received my package, I didn't get what I ordered. Then, called customer service, for a re-ship. Went through another week's worth of excuses and lies about when my item would be re-shipped. Finally, had to cancel my order after close to a month's of my time being wasted working with this company. "
"I wish I would have read these reviews before I purchased from them. Talk about the run around. I agree with almost every posting here. No "twelve digit" confirmation number exists and when you try to track your order through the order ID number(s) none of them work. No email or way to contact them directly - I'm complaining to the site I purchased through but they are just as bad referencing me back to their stupid canned email replys... never will order from them again be assured..."
"I placed an order on May 26, still don't have it two weeks later.
Their help page says that "When your order is shipped, you will receive another e-mail with a tracking number that will allow you to track your shipment until it arrives," and they did send me an email with a tracking number, which didn't work. I emailed to inquire, and they said they had shipped it by a method for which tracking doesn't work. Won't be using them again."
"I ordered a set of books from Amazon.com and the order was placed with SBD. They took my money right away and said it would take 4-14 days for delivery. I live in Michigan and it ships from Indiana. There is no way that it should have taken 14 days but I waited. I contacted SBD twice and received canned replies. On May 14th, I still hadn't received my books and asked for a refund. They replied saying that they were going to "replace" my books. On May 19th, I received an email stating that I should have received my order. Still waiting by the way. I complained to Amazon who is investigating my order. According to SBD's website, I should have received my order no later than May 8th. Still waiting for either refund or "replacement" (yeah, "replacement", what a joke!)."
"Like many others who have written reviews, I was subjected to bait and switch by this retailer, who claimed to have "more than 10 available" in stock when I purchased a book using eBay's Buy It Now feature. Three days later, the seller, who is also going by the name "greatbookprices" on eBay, canceled the order without contacting me. (The company is actually called Expert Trading Limited, for what it's worth)
Now, the same book is re-listed on eBay for nearly $100 more and the listing still claims "more than 10 available".
This is highly suspicious. Yeah, sure, you don't have any in stock...you just happened to cancel my order and raise the price by 155% at the same time...
When I called them at ***-***-**** they said the order was probably canceled because they were out of stock. When I pressed them about the price change on eBay and the fact that they are still offering "more than 10" of this exact book for sale on eBay, they said they would have to have someone call me back.
Needless to say, I haven't heard from them, nor do I expect to.
Stay away from this vendor!"
"Ordered a book from Amazon.com via this dealer. It has been 7 weeks already and no book so far. Sending an email gives a canned reply. Latest email from their customer service asks me to confirm my shipping address. It has not changed in 5 years and Amazon provided that to SuperBookDeals already. Will no longer deal with any 3rd party seller on Amazon.com, and other vendors can thank SuperBookDeals.com for that. "
"I ordered from Barnes and Noble and it turns out superbookdeals got the order. After I found this site, I wish BN had told me who was getting the order before I paid. The email I got from superbookdeals was the shipping would take 4 to 14 days. How do you ship in the US that takes 14 days to get anywhere? The ship date was 02/06/2010. It's now 02/25/2010. When in the hell has 6+14=25. I've asked for a refund from Barnes and Noble, which I will never order from again. "
"I ordered a book from them on February 5th. Ten days later I had not seen the book, so I went to their website to track the status of my order. The order had been canceled without any notice to me, but the title was still available in their inventory. While composing an email to ask them about this, I finally had the bright idea of looking up some ratings. Looks like I am not alone. I was lucky -- they never charged my credit card. What a time waste and disappointment!"
"These people are a bunch of cons! First off it was my mistake for not doing my research about this website then again I placed an order with them back in 2005 and I didnt have any issues so I thought i'd just purchase with them again. I ordered my most expensive text through them because as it turns out it was $50 less on their site. This order was placed on Jan 25th they debited my account on the 28th so I assumed that I'd get my book with the next couple of days mind u I placed several other orders with other reputable companies and by the 28th I already had those in my house. by Feb 3rd I began to panic it was already a week into the semester and I had assignments due which required use of the said text. I did a little digging and found these reviews and decided to make some calls. Spoke to a "lovely" young lady who goes by the name of Carrie and she reassured me that I'd have a refund within 48 hours...it is now Feb 5th and as I suspected no refund and this is after I'ne emailed them got no response and called twice expressing my concern (on a side note everyday I check the status of my order even though it should've been cancelled, it goes from "backordered" to "not yet shipped").....I don't know what little scam these people are running but its quite unfair to struggling college students like myself...I will report this matter to the proper authorities because this is absolutely ridiculous .
UPDATE[Feb 17th]: On January 28th after calling this company everyday since my order had been cancelled, my account was credited for the full amount that i paid for the book i never received..buyer beware, if this does happen to you, be persistent or else you will not get your money back at all."
