took the money, but I've heard nothing since
"On August 3 I ordered a battery for a Nikon camera from New World Video Direct. I received an email confirmation of that order. That's the last I've heard from them. Several emails asking about this order were not answered. This week, the emails are returned as undeliverable. I've used the one they say to use in their email ... "info@" ... and the one listed on their website as "customerservice@". In my case, it's not even bait and switch ... it's take the money and disappear."

"They were the only site with any discount at all on the software I wanted, and they worked with me to make certain I was getting the correct version/license for my needs. They carry the best quality products at good prices, with outstanding service. I was instantly reassured of their reputation when I saw the history which includes Programmer's Paradise, a top source for software for professional progammers and developers with which I was familiar in the past."

"Found a hard-to-find item (device programmer) at an excellent price. Order was processed and shipped promptly. When the order shipped, I was sent an e-mail copy of the invoice. It showed that one item was back-ordered. The original order confirmation states that back-ordered items will ship with no additional shipping charges. Since I'm not in a rush for that additional part, I can wait; otherwise, I would have to pick it up elsewhere. When I lived in Arizona and worked at Motorola as a technician in the early 1980s, I used to visit their store. I haven't dealt with them in years, but I was reassured in placing my order that it was a company I knew. I'm happy with their service, very happy with the price, and I won't hesitate to buy from them again."

"They are one of my preferred suppliers of industrial and commercial supplies. I've used them for over 20 years, and always recommend them to my customers. They're not the cheapest, but they offer a great variety of products, and customer service I've never seen equaled. Their on-line ordering is terrific; I especially like the feature that as you select each item it tells you immediately if it's in stock, and when it will ship. Their catalog, both print and on-line, also gives great general information about category of products ... what the differences are between the types offered, what they might be used for, technical data, etc.; a nice resource. My biggest complaint is that their catalog doesn't list the brands. In some cases, I have a specific brand preference; it also makes comparison shopping difficult."

"I was trying to find an interesting champagne as a gift for a friend of mine, and I found the Wine Messenger. This was my first wine purchase on-line, so I wasn't sure how it would go. The selection of wines they have is terrific, with detailed information on each one and the vineyard/source. I found a very interesting rose champagne, and I ordered two bottles. The wine arrived promptly, and was well-packed. My friend was thrilled with the gift. Although I enjoy wine, I'm not a big enthusiast or collector ... but I have ordered from the Wine Messenger again. (This invoice was the only one I could find.)"

"I have purchased from this store several times, and they've become one of my preferred vendors. The items I've purchased are reasonably priced. This was a premium product, with all vendors offering pretty much the same price; Beverage Factory had a 10% discount, which helped. Order was placed on a Sunday. The order was processed, and shipped, on Monday. I used standard ground service, and because we're both in Southern California, the package arrived on Tuesday. Unit was well-packed, arrived undamaged, and works fine. I've just placed another order with them, and I'm sure I'll continue to do business with them in the future."

"Merchant reported merchandise shipping on 6/26/07, but provided no information on shipping method or tracking information. Merchandise was never received. Replied to e-mail requesting tracking, but received no reply. I've now disputed the charge with my credit card company, and will NEVER purchase from this merchant again."

"I ordered a Nikon Coolpix 8800 digital camera from Abe's in August 2005. They called to "confirm" the order, and tried to "upsell" some accessories. And I did buy a couple. However, the process wasn't bad, and I was moderately satisfied overall. However, I can't say that anymore. I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 360 from Abe's on-line. I received a phone message from "George" on my cell phone, and an e-mail from him also ... stating they needed to "confirm" my information. Now, other on-line vendors don't need to "confirm" who I am to avoid credit card fraud. And Abe's already had my customer information (repeat customer). But I left a voice mail for George, and also replied to his e-mail, and confirmed that I was indeed the person who placed the order, that I needed it quickly, and to please expedite the order and do NOT try and upsell me ... I'm very familiar with the product, and I know exactly what I want. This process started on Sunday. The following Friday morning I received a phone call from George (on my home phone #, this time). He said, "We've been trying to reach you, did you get our messages?". I told him yes ... and I replied to both the phone call and the e-mail. Then he wanted to ask if I had considered some accessories for the Garmin. I told him I knew what I wanted, and that's what I had ordered. He then said "it should ship today". I was furious. It should have shipped out Monday. There was no reason for any delay after I responded to both phone and e-mail. I told George I was upset, that I had said I needed it quickly. And when I got the shipping notification, I learned it had been sent out UPS ground! They could have at least upgraded it to two-day delivery. So instead of having more than a week to get familiar with it, I took it on vacation having done nothing more than charge it up and look at the opening screen! Thank goodness it worked! I will no longer purchase anything from Abe's of Maine. Holding up the order for a bogus "confirmation" in order to try and sell me something more after I'd already replied to both of the messages has cost Abe's a customer. And I'll tell all of my family, friends, and customers to avoid them. Update: I was contacted by David from Abe's of Maine. He apologized for the problems, said it should not have happened, and offered a $50 refund to my credit card. He also asked me to change my review after that. I told him I would add this comment to the review. I've received the $50 refund ... and I've also received another call from David, wondering why this review had not yet been updated. (I was traveling on business.). I appreciate the refund, and I hope they are able to change their policies to avoid future problems like this. However, I would still be reluctant to order from them again."

"A truly exceptional store! This is the first place I look now when I need footwear. Selection is great, prices are good, and the service is unbelievable. I had a short time to prepare for a vacation. Ordered slippers and sandals. Slippers were too big. Returned, and ordered another pair. They arrived, fit fine, had a great vacation. I started all this only 7 days before my vacation was to start. It would have taken me far longer if I'd tried to shop locally."

"I've purchase twice from Village Hat Shop, and I couldn't be happier. The quality of the product is exceptional, order processing was quick, I was notified of each step. Product arrived well-packaged, was found to be as advertised, and went on vacation with me. Sizing information was spot-on. I don't normally wear hats ... both of the hats I've ordered fit me perfectly. As I say, I don't normally wear hats ... but both of these hats are now valued members of my wardrobe.
