"We ordered a large mirror as a gift for our niece. The shipping company (AIT) shows tracking status as out for delivery 11 days ago. They don’t answer their phone or return calls. Ballard has said they tried contacting them as well, but it might take 5 business days to hear back. This is unacceptable service. Ballard should deal with more reputable shippers."
"4 month’s later I am still receiving harassing emails from them regarding an order they shipped to the wrong address and unknown owner. Not only did they do this once but the exact same shipping error was done by their supervisor. They told me repeatedly they would reach out to that address and get the 2 tables return. No contact was done. The company only continued to threaten me that they would change me for theses two tables. The tables have been returned but they continue to send me Emails requesting them back. I have spent many , many hours on the phone and it is still not resolved"
"We purchased expensive ballroom chairs from them that over the course of a year completely fell apart. They barely open and if you try to sit on them, they collapse. I sent photos, talked to a supervisor, sent an email to their “product specialists” as directed. All I got back was a promise that they stand behind their products and that my return policy has expired. Done with this company. "
"I have purchased several items from this company over the years, and every single item came defective in some way. I sent one cabinet back, only to receive another one with a warped front door. I ended up keeping it, but every time I look at the door I shake my head over the faulty products they sell. Now some of the veneer is coming off. I also bought a Victorian looking coat rack that has is totally off center. It was too much trouble to rebox and send back. I honestly have no idea how this company stays in business given their prices and lack of quality. "
"So they delivered an armoire without the feet"
"Paul Wiegers was great to work with and very patient. He helped me put together two rooms of furniture. He was very knowledgeable and it was a pleasant experience. I would recommend going there and getting his help."
"Ordered a rug from Ballard which was nice but I opened a Ballard credit card to purchase it. I did the entire transaction from their mall store. The saleswoman was very nice but filled out most of the paperwork to expedite the transaction. She wrote down my email address so I would receive paperless billing statement. However, she neglected to state that the first bill usually goes into SPAM. Well, you guessed it.....the first bill came and I never saw it so I had a late payment. When I discovered what happened I immediately called. They waived the service fee but not the interest fee. SERIOUSLY??? The manager I spoke to could have cared less.

"We bought the Ceylon Whitewash series furniture including One Sofa, Two Chairs and two Ottomans. The upgrade cushions proved to be necessary as the standard cushions were poor quality.
Unfortunately the finish on all the pieces was rough and covered with splinters. We purchased the collection a year ahead of a sun room construction project and were forced to sand and refinish the new furniture. We would not recommend anyone purchase this made in Viet Nam furniture."
"Ordered several items, two of which did not meet delivery dates. One was delayed three times and a total of 6 weeks from expected arrival. Very poor response from customer service manager."
"Ballard really confuses me. Its as though they want to loose money. Their marketing is pretty and they promise lots. Several months ago I had attempted to use their designer service over the phone since there is not a Ballard anywhere near me in western NY state. We just purchased a historic mansion I am renovating and even offered to send pics, post for them etc..the designer couldn't even get her act together to read my extensive notes and measurements and return calls..she always had an excuse and therefore I wasnt able to order from them at that time. I wasted hours preparing for our phone meetings so I could order. Fast forward a few weeks ago and I decided to order just a single piece for the hall..a bunny williams hall table made of composite board and the matching table cloth...This small purchase has turned into a logistical nightmare! I have made no less than 10 phone calls and 4 emails trying to track down the table. Not sure why they need a big truck for this assembly required hall table. What is most disturbing about ballard is the way their customer service people keep throwing it back at me...When the trucking company was not calling me or showing up they just kept telling me to call them. The trucking company had passed my table onto another trucking company that had a “full voice mail” ..the customer should not need to know all this and Ballard should bend over backwards for a customer. Every time I speak to customer service its as though they are doing me a favor..they are rude and not willing to work for their customers "
"I ordered several pieces of very expensive furniture for my office. I had to wait over 90 days for one item. They shipped all the pieces individually on different dates and would not consolidate the deliveries. I needed all the pieces at once so I had to store everything until I got the final shipment. The final shipment was delayed twice. I contacted customer service several times with no help except they did refund the shipping amount on the delayed piece. Overall a nightmare. "
"July 2018, in the mall, and preparing to move to the West Coast, where I was having a new house built, I ventured into the personally unknown Ballard Design store in NY to browse. I saw furniture I liked, and with 30% off, I purchased a dining room, serving, and two living room accent tables. They were to be shipped to my new house on 9/19/18 The six Dana dinning chairs were immediately available and would have gotten to the new house before I moved in, so I was told to order them closer to my move in August. I did. I closed and moved into my home in mid August. Practically each week, I received E-mails informing me of delivery changes to successive future dates. After three months, I eventually received the dining room and serving tables. The living room accent tables were further delayed to end of October. Upon inspecting the partial delivery, I found the table base badly bruised at the corners, and the furniture looked dirty and discolored. I looked at the female threads for mounting the table top to the base. They were all bruised. The table was obviously used. I immediately called Ballard, complained, and cancelled all orders, including another and 3rd order of a coffee table, I made the day before the partial delivery, when I called to inquire about the perpetually delayed original orders. The rep said I would have received a refund when the items were back in the warehouse. I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor said she could stop the chairs and most recent order and give an immediate refund, but had to wait for the used furniture to return to the warehouse for that refund. The chairs still came to my door two days later. I refused them, and UPS did not take them off the truck; yet, today I received an E-mail from Ballard, that the chairs were delivered. I called and suggested they look at the tracking #s to see where the chairs were. Ballard said that the tracking "is now useless," and I had to wait for everything to reach their warehouse to receive the refund; Ballard has an ok store. The personnel seem friendly, but behind that front problems lurk. Something is woefully wrong, for me to receive used furniture, as new. There also seems no continuity between the warehouse, stores, and the customer service 800 number personnel. Needless to mention how protractedly bare that experience left my house. I went back to Ethan Allen and Lay Z Boy. UPDATE: 10/16. Just read Ballard's response inviting me to contact them. How pathetic. Used furniture? No excuse for that! What the hell am I contacting them for; more nonsense? They should have changed their policies, trained staff, and supervised their personnel, so this ridiculous situation would never have occurred! UPDATE: 11/9/18. Despite the supervisor's claim, that upon the junk furniture's return to the warehouse I would immediately be refunded, the junk was picked up on since 10/16, and after a call then, and four times following, to date - 11/9/18, still no refund. Imagine dealing with this for some 4 1/2 months and counting! I feel like I'm working for or married to Ballard darn it! In contrast, I returned 4 Bar stools to Wayfair. They immediately refunded me, while I was on the phone arranging the return, and picked up the stools 2 weeks later. DONE! I forgot to mention that the rep at my last inquiry said she would send me $50 hoping it would make me try Ballard again. I laughed. She still sent it; but in true Ballard fashion, it was sent to my previous NY address. My move cost me 52K including the near 5k I spent at their store; so what would their measly $50 do for me; give me more headache?! Get thee hence Ballard; Everyone else, RUN!"
"Unfortunately, Ballard customer service is just about the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my life. Their orders can only be delivered between 8-4 and they have no flexibility within that time frame. Because I have a job, I had to return an item that was never delivered. To top it all off, I was charged shipping and return costs! I wouldn't waste your time fighting with them. They won't last long."
"I tried to buy standard modular office furniture from Ballard. Mind you, these are standard pieces that you can configure together to design your office space. So there is not alot to choose from, but they have all the basics that you can use to design your configuration. So one would think, since these are standard pieces and limited choice, that you can expect them to have them fairly available (either in stock or some kind of constant JIT flow from their manufacturer). Nope! I ordered 9 pieces from them, and basically they are unusable until all 9 come. 2 came after 2 weeks. Another 2 small items after another week. Then the meat of the order is not schedule to come more than 2 months after I ordered, and then the final pieces, 3 months after I ordered. You get no notifications when things ship. No email, no text. They just show up at your door at random times. Customer service doesn't care one bit when you call them. If you want a horribly frustrating experience, then order from Ballard. Otherwise, steer clear. The furniture I have received is of mediocre quality all made in China.. so don't bother. "
"Ballard Designs should have their website redesigns. The worst website ever. couldn't check order history
and the customer service was no help at all and all she said was ...I dont know why...I dont know why!!!"
