"Horrible customer service. You find out the true identity of an online store when you have to return something. I did just that. I bought some ram from buy.com and then decided to return it. I got my RMA request and I sent it back and they received it on June 13th. It is now July 7th and I have yet to receive my refund. I have also emailed them twice without getting much help from them."

"I am echoing the post of jeffhess. I ordered (order # 32206461) a Connect 3D 2GB secure digital card from buy.com that had a $50 rebate on January 30, 2007. I received the card...however, have not received the rebate. When I began checking on the rebate in April phones at rebate center still worked...now are disconnected, web site down, etc. Buy.com indicated they would assist (spoke with Mark at 8:22 pm on 6/20/07)..he said a case would be opened and I would receive an email confirming that...I have had no such email. I have used the email form on the buy.com site 3 times since then....only receive the automated reply - no follow up response. I am on hold with them right now....if they won't make good on rebate...who knows if any of their future rebates will be paid or not?"

"Buy.com advertizes rebates that aren't honored. In my case, I bought a Connect3D 2GB SD card that was advertzed with a $50 rebate. Connect3D has not sent the rebate, and Buy.com is ignoring my phone calls. Customer service at Buy.com puts you on hold for a long time (45 minutes in one case)."

"Do not buy from Buy.com. They shipped me the wrong item, which is an easy mistake and not a huge problem. However, to get it back to them they require me to take it to the loacal UPS drop off place. It would not be a huge deal, except the item they sent by mistake is a huge weight bench system that weighs a ton and is in a very large box. Not the easiest item to load up in a car and take to UPS!

I tried to explain this to their CSR, but he could not understand why I could not just drop this giant package off to UPS! He claims that they can not send UPS to my home to pick it up, but I am not sure why as that is what UPS does if you ask them to.

Anyways, never, ever buy anyting from Buy.com. Not only did they send me the wrong item, but they are making it a huge pain to get it back to them.

Buy.com sucks.

"This store offerred a LCD TV with a $150.00 rebate. The rebate was not offerred by them but a third party I later learned was Connect 3D, they never followed through with the rebate. Their telephone number is now disconnected. Buy.com also does not respond. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE FRAUDS !!!! I plan to file a complaint with the state attorney general in each state thay do business in. THEY'RE FRAUDS!!!!!!"

"Absolutely THE WORST experience I have ever had with Buy.com, I don't know where to begin.

First of all they have horrible email customer support. If you don't get an email saying your item has shipped, assume it is back ordered. I never received notice saying the Samsung 22" LCD (226BW) I ordered as "in stock" was back ordered, apparently I was just supposed to wait for them to ship it. Also, you shouldn't waste your time writing to them regarding the status of your order, I got a cut and paste email and when I replied I received the EXACT same email with another person's name at the bottom. This tells me they they didn't even read what was sent, they probably looked for a keyword and then cut and pasted a reply. After receiving the same email twice, I asked for the customer support phone number (FYI, it is the same as the ordering phone number) and when I called, the only email the gentleman wanted to address was the one where I asked for their phone number, and obviously that one was addressed as I was calling in. I got zero satisfaction and if I hadn't ordered the same LCD from another merchant I believe I would still be waiting for it.

Second, their website can't be trusted. They claim they only update the inventory status of items once every 24 hours, I know this to be false as I was watching for the Samsung 226BW LCD monitor I ordered and it went from "in stock: usually shipping in 1-2 business days" to "out of stock" and then to "in stock: very few left" all in the same day. I ordered on a Tuesday and continued waiting on my order to ship and then that weekend the same item was again "in stock: usually shipping in 1-2 business days" with no limited stock message. What I finally found out from Buy.com one week later was that the monitor was indeed back ordered and that there was no information on when it might be back in stock.

What upset me most about Buy.com was their poor email customer support and then their dishonest salesmanship, with regard to the inventory status on their website. Continuing to sell items as "in stock" when they are back ordered is deceptive. I personally am willing to pay a little more for being treated with respect. I don't want to order an "in stock" item believing I will have it in 1-2 weeks when in reality 1 week after ordering it I have no idea when it might arrive.

Buy.com just another rebate scammer

Buy.com sent me a email back in January promoting a Connect3D 2GB Secure Digital Card. The price was $50 with a $50 rebate. Advertised as free after rebate. I took the bait and now im out $50.
Apparently Connect 3D was pulling in all the cash they could before they went out of business. Buy.com seems to feel they have no obligation to step up and honor the rebate they had heavily promoted.
Emails to Buy.com Customer Service are unanswered. Calls to their Customer Service results in getting the run a round.
If you buy anything from Buy.com that has a rebate, you should take into consideration that you may not receive the rebate.

"I am shocked to see such bad reviews of buy.com.

I guess, I too must be getting lucky with my orders. I have ordered several times from them in just the last couple of months and I have had zero complaints.

They have been extremely fast about processing and shipping. They have really good prices and deals on a wide variety of items.

I've ordered DVD's and different electronic devices and they have all work well and arrived fast.

I'm a pretty big fan of Buy.com, mostly because I can order with a money order. It's nice to not be treated like I have leprosy just because I don't have a credit card.

"I fell for their scam they are in cahoots with connect 3d. Now it is too late to dispute my credit card so I am stuck with a lousy 2GB flash drive that I didn't want to buy for $50. "To cancel an order cannot be more difficult than at Buy.com

After several days waiting after ordered 2GB notebook memory, the online status was still showing something like "ship to warehouse". I can't wait any more so requested to cancel online at one late night. In the next very morning I got an email saying the item has been shipped along with some tracking information which I believe to be faked -- even 3 days later the tracking website says "information unavailable" for that tracking number. They MADE A FAKED tracking to refuse your cancellation!

Called their customer service; Get connected right away, but they said cancellation has a special line so then transferred me to it -- which was not answered after 25 minutesm, the time I lost patience.

Will Never buy anything from it again.

"Like the multitudes, I got stiffed for 50 dollars when I purchased the Connect 3D 2Gb flash drive through BUY.COM. I took great care to make sure I turned in all the proper paperwork. Mailed in January, got e-mail verification in March (!) that my rebate was in processing. It's obvious I'm not going to get it, and BUY.COM is totally non-responsive. I won't tell you what to do, but I'll never use them again even though I have purchased many things from them before."

"I have purchased from Buy.com several times, the last of which was probably in early 2006. I had been very satisfied with their quick turnaround and service(sales.) Today's order was a different beast altogether.

I went to Buy to order a Jabra headset, which was reasonably priced ($52.99) and offered free shipping. I put the item in "the cart" and proceeded to Google checkout, which I have also used before with no problems. It showed a recap of the item, with its price listed as 52.99, with double hyphens for shipping and tax, no amounts. I knew I would be charged for tax, and expected the shipping to be free, as the item had been displayed in Buy's shopping cart.

At the next step in Google's checkout process, I was presented with a page that simply showed a total of $63.51, and no breakdown of shipping or tax. I mistakenly clicked ok, not having taken the time to do the math, which would have revealed a price too high to include tax alone. They had charged me $6.23 for shipping, and the order was completed!

Immediately I called Buy to tell them about the mixup, expecting that they would correct the error and refund the shipping price. Instead, after being put on hold for at least a half hour (funny, sales connects much quicker than that,) I was told by the outsourced customer service representative that they would forward a request for refund of the shipping price to the refunds department, to which of course customers do not have direct access.

So at this point I could not be assured of a refund, because it needed to be approved by this "department," in a mere one or two days. Hmmm . . .

So, I went back to Buy to look at the product again, about 45 minutes after I had made the initial order, and voila: the headset was now listed for $48.99! So my price with bogus shipping added was 20% higher than this, and I was ticked.

Calling "Customer Service" at Buy once more, after 45 minutes on hold, I explained this new development, and that I expected not only the shipping charge refunded, but that I also wanted the difference in price as well. The representative, after some checking, proceeded to tell me that the Sku #s on the product that I had ordered and the product I was now quoting differed, hence the price difference.

There were indeed two different product pages now on Buy, with slightly different descriptions but the exact same model# of Jabra headset! I explained to the representative that Jabra makes only 1 product under the particular model #, and that any discrepancy was Buy's problem, that they had two different prices listed for the exact same item, and that I expected to get the lower of the two prices.

I then foolishly asked what would be involved in canceling the order, thinking that if I started from scratch I could get the better price, with free shipping, in a more timely fashion and with far less hassle for all parties concerned. As I discussed this and other options with the representative, she went ahead and processed the cancellation without my consent. I then learned that the cancellation was also open to interpretation by the manufacturer, and I would not know whether the cancellation had been "accepted" for one or two business days.

In the meantime I can't make a new order without risking having a second headset show up on my doorstep, costing me shipping to send back to Buy. The representative told me that I only need to refuse the order. I told her that Buy, along with virtually everyone else, stopped requiring customer signatures years ago. Maybe they still require them in her country?

So now I wait for the order to come, or not, and look forward to what I'm certain will amount to hours worth of customer "support" fun and games.

When will companies get it into their heads that customer service is more important than price (to a limit.) I recently had an experience with a rental car company where there was a problem, and I did not hold them accountable in that it was something that did not cause me that much trouble and that it was really something they were not directly responsible for. I asked for nothing, yet they insisted on bending over backwards to make sure I was happy with their service. If their rates go up 50% tomorrow, I will still very seriously consider using them just because of how they treated me: as a valued customer.

As far as I'm concerned, from reading recent reviews of Buy.com, and from my own experience, it seems that Buy,com has joined the ranks of other disreputable fly-by-night online retailers.

To them I say,

"Buy Buy . . ."

Update-

Buy denied my "request" for order cancellation. Meanwhile, a support representative and her manager both informed me that a price match could not be made because it was being combined with a promotional item - free shipping (which of course has not been "approved" by the "credit department.")

At this point I can only warn others in the strongest terms to stay away from this retailer if you value being treated like a human being, not a mark for the bottom line.

"First Time and Last Time Buyer. Made an order for an LCD monitor and 2 other computer parts. As soon as the order went through paypal it was canceled on buy.com. Called buy.com was put on hold for 30 minutes and between my southern accent and their Indian accents there was a definite communication problem. I was told to contact paypal. My paypal account was credited back finally. I will not purchase from them again, because if I had an issue with a product that I had actually purchased I could just imagine how bad service is going to be since this company subs it's customer service overseas. I did not know this to begin with or I would have not ordered in the first place."
