"Cancelled my order after waiting 4 days to tell me. Had to go online and found out. CRAP!"
"Part of order was cancelled after five days, but was given no notice of cancellation."
"Ordered some enclosures that showed in-stock at the time of order. Five days later I check the status and they've cancelled my order. No email, no phone call, nothing explaining to me that my order was cancelled. I've had similar experiences before, with my order status going from "shipped" back to "processing" to "cancelled" and then back to "sent to warehouse" with no explaination at all. This place can have really good prices sometimes, but it's not worth it to have to deal with all their tatics."
"I placed the order on May 19th, 2005. The order was cancelled without reason, without email. An email for the cancellation should be minimun requirement for a merchant.
Well.. the email finally came, with a 5 dollar coupon, after 2 weeks."
"Worst customer service I've found. Ordered an SD chip and an external hard drive case. 3 days after ordering the items, the chip indicates shipped with a tracking number. Click the tracking number and it crashes to a blank screen. 2nd part of order after 4 days indicates cancelled. No email from them, no justification or offer to cancel entire order, just a cancel in the status. Last order was a few weeks ago and the screen never updated to show shipment status. Emails to their no service department went unanswered until after the item finally showed up. It is possible to get good deals from this bunch, but be prepared for no answers to your emails and cancelled orders.
I made the mistake of ordering another item from this bunch and then went through months and months of fighting over an accurately filled out and accepted rebate that the rebate company said they should pay,but apparently just didn't feel like it. Buy.com got all the money, offered a jornada at $175 with a $100 rebate. After the rebate company showed they were crooks, I contacted a bunch of liars at buy.com who at first referred me to the same rebate company who was refusing to pay the rebate, then they lied and said they'd sent the complaint up the chain. After months and months the rebate finally got paid after I complained to the feds and the attorney general of florida. Buy.com never did reply to the complaint. This is the worst customer service company ever, tigerdirect is even better than this bunch. I wondered why we weren't seeing the owner standing on the buy.com roof any more. He's hired a bunch of jerks and liars in his customer service department.

"absolutly the worst experience ever. they will cancel items without email. customer service does not exist. they sent me an email saying that they update thier web site every 24 hours, so if you order something that is supposed to be in stock, it may not be. time to wake up buy.com its 2005 time to get real time inventory.
never buy from buy.com"
"I have been shopping online for years. I have been writing articles related to computers for about ten years, and have written articles on how to shop online safely. Annually, I save enough shopping online to pay for my Internet account. With that said, I will never shop at buy.com again.
It started a couple of years ago when i ordered something from them on sale that was out of stock. After about 4 to 6 weeks of waiting for some sort of notification I E-mailed them to be told that the order was canceled. I never received notification.
I let that go by, figuring that things occur and mistakes are made. More recently, I ordered a solid state portable, pocket memory device. It was a good price and had a rebate as well. When it arrived I was surprised that it was shipped in a manila envelope and that the envelope had been slit open at the post office and the drive stolen- all I got was an empty envelope. I filed a claim with buy.com and they said (through E-mail) that they would investigate. Weeks went by and the rebate expired, so I filed a claim with the credit card company and they flagged the charge, and then I E-Mailed buy.com and stated that I wanted the order canceled. Later, as I had net heard from buy.com for a while, I called them and spoke to a well-trained phone representative in India. I told them the story and stated that I wanted the order canceled. They stated that this was noted in the order already.
I but you can guess what happened next! About ten days later the memory arrived! So I now had a memory key for which I paid too much in hand and no hope of making use of the rebate. Sure, I could have then lost the postage amount to send it back and get a refund, but at that point I was through trusting buy.com. I took the loss, and wrote it off as an educational experience. There were a few more details involved with numerous E-mails sent to buy.com, but you get the idea.
In the last two months I have spent over $2000 online, purchasing a pro-quality digital camera (my third digital), a vacuum cleaner, a SM memory card, a couple of laptop accessories, two dozen AA NiMH batteries, and more. I can assure you that not one penny of that was spent through buy.com.

"Aviod! I ordered a "Free Shipping" mouse on 4/28. It was shipped out via some shady company APX which answer the phone with "hello?", lost the package. A call to them revalved "yeah, it's lost, nothing we can do".
Buy.com website won't let me report a "lost shippment" due to fact that a coupon I had was labeled "still shipping". I sent an e-mail to support, no answer for 10 days, then a message "have not forgotten about your email". There is no phone number listed on their website, but I found it due to other folks here (its ***-***-****). You'll get to a call center in India. They acknowledged that it's lost, and told me that I should file the "lost shipment" (which doesn't work), so they "escalated" the call. Guess what, nothing happens: no replacement is shipped, no refund to the CC. My next actions are to file for a refund with Amex. The bottom line is that this is the worst online shopping experience I ever had.
Yeah i copied and pasted this comment from petersch2005 because the same bull$hit happend to me! THE SAME FU$%ING CRAP! The only diffence it I orderd a dlink wireless combo for $79.99! But, unlike poor petersch2005 i used my credit card, and just charged the little scammers back the purchace price. Take that buy.com.
Do the world a favor, ever buy from these idiots."
"Buy.com is totally shXt! They lied to customers! I purchased a Motorola V710 cell phone priced at $149.99 with one $150 rebate and one $150 BONUS rebate. It clearly stated that you make $150.01 after rebate. I usually check the rebate before placing the order to make sure the rebate is legit. But it mentioned both rebates come with shipment. When I received the phone to my surprise there is only one rebate included! Then I checked their web site the second rebate was removed! I called all the numbers I found from their web site and they all claimed that there is only one rebate. Someone even told me it's been one rebate on their web site for months. What a liar! I even kept a screenshot with two rebate listed. Am I blind? Their customer service is the worst I ever had. Nobody admitted it's been listed two rebates, told me to call other department, said will send me the second rebate (lie!), faxed the proof and no response, try to keep me waiting but not mentioning there is a dead line for return. Thank god that I have not yet used the phone (they told me to start using the phone while waiting for the issue been resolved) before I decide to return it. Otherwise I may end up paying up to $400 of early termination fee or force to keep the phone with one year contract! Be ware of buy.com! Trust me. They are trained to lie to customers! Never ever deal with them again!"

"I should have believed all the reviews on this store. The web indicates in stock and the camera was not. I asked for status 5 times and no response other than they care about my satisfaction. Customer Service is handled by INdia which is empowered to do absolutely nothing other than appologize.
Warning - do not do business with this web site/store..."
"Ordered May 3rd. Buy.com indicated 1-2 day shipment. Paid extra for 2 day shipping. Did not ship by May 6th, no info on website concerning why it did not ship yet. Cancelled order using webform. Buy.com promised one day response to cancellation request. Did not receive reply.
Emailed May 11 requesting info on cancellation request and asking why order orignally didn't ship in 1-2 days as promised. Received form reply confirming cancellation request and stating item was out of stock.
BUT, more than 1 week after cancellation request (May 14) item shipped. Called customer service. Someone in India or there abouts had no clue about what happened and could not help me or answer any questions about delay, cancellation request, stopping shipment, etc.
Concluded Buy.com does not read any email forms sent in from their website. Too many other good venders on the internet, will not use buy.com again. "
"Ok, ordered 3 DVDs because they had a Spend $50, get a $10 eCoupon for free. Not bad.
So, order my DVDs, they come a bit slow, but nothing too bad. The UPS box is fine, but inside one of the DVDs is in horrible condition. It obviously left their factory like that, so strike one for poor quality control. Takes 3 weeks to get a replacement sent, during which time they won't respond to my emails. I just get a 'order on its way' note 1/2 a month later. Strike two for poor turnaround.
Now, 2 months later I finally get my eCoupon. Go to use it. Doesn't work. Email customer support. Takes another week to get a response, during which time the coupon has expired. The response was obviously written by someone who doesn't speak much English and didn't make a bit of sense. Emailed support again asking for a new coupon code, no response. I will never shop with Buy.com again. Read the reviews here; this is NOT the sort of rating you see with a competent company."
"I have previously ordered a number of items from buy.com without a problem. I have known about the poor ratings but never really looked into them since I had never had a problem. That changed with my last order. I ordered a camera that showed in stock. 3 business days later I received an email that the camera was on backorder. I quickly found out that they have no phone number (as previously mentioned), and asked about the order status through email. After no response in 1 business day, I place a request to cancel the order through there web site. The site says it takes 7-10 days to respond to the cancellation request. 3 business days after my initial inquiry, I get a response saying that my camera is on back order and that they do not know when they will get more in stock. There reply did not address my cancellation request. They have still not addressed this request. 7-10 days is way to long to wait, especially if the web site showed the item in stock at the time of the order. With no phone number to contact customer support, ordering from them is very risky. I will never do so again. UPDATE: I received a response from my initial inquiry, which verified the item was on backorder (unknown ship date) but it did not address my cancellation request. Later that night I received a tracking number for my shipped item!?! I refused the package and am waiting for a credit."
"Slow and sub-standard shipping. If you choose the free shipping they will use U.S.Postal Service which is impossible to track packages with. Unfortunately you don't find that out until after they have shipped. I tried to contact them directly to find out better shipping info and found out you can't contact them by telephone. They just won't give out a number. After much research I finally came up with their corporate number which ended up being a dead end unless you have the exact name of the person you need to talk to. After dealing with this store over the course of several years I think I'll call it quits with them. Seriously, what kind of company purposely makes every effort to keep their customers from telephone access. Some problems can't be resolved by e-mail. Take my advice and shop somewhere else.
The abysmal customer service of a website you can't contact by telephone isn't worth a few dollars saved."
