Website errors, no order confirmation, can't cancel, long processing, unhelpful support

"After owning an ebags travel backpack for several years and loving it, I returned to purchase a laptop backpack. I spent 45 minutes just trying to get an order to go through the website without it erroring out. Finally it said I had placed the order, but I never got an email confirmation or anything, so far. I had to contact support just to see if the order existed. Oh, and the site wouldn't let me create an account either.

Appr. 20 minutes after placing my order, I was told by support that they couldn't cancel or change my order because of their "fast processing". So I bought another smaller bag that I had missed when I placed the first order. I now have two orders. I asked how long I could expect until I got the bags, and the support merely said the 2-5 days that the shipping quote listed, plus 2 days for "processing" before it was shipped. 2 days for processing, yet their system is so fast that you can't cancel an order 15 minutes after placing? That's a scam. They want to ship the item and make you decide whether you are going to return it. BTW, they don't pay for return shipping either, so that's 14.99 that I have to pay to send the bag back because I can't cancel the order.

Oh, and I've never received a confirmation email yet. No confirmation, but they won't cancel the order. So very disappointed.
I asked for a manager to call me (I never do that) because my experience was so horrible, and the support agent set one up supposedly, but said I could expect to hear from the manager in 1 or 2 days.? Unbelievably bad experience.

Can't believe how bad EBags quality has become. I have an orginal EBag now for over 8 years and it is

"I have an original EBag now for over 8 years and it is BULLET PROOF!! So I ordered a new EBag Luxon and literally as I went to open the bag and the zipper fell off right in my hand! Called the company directly to customer service and because I bought it on Amazon they would not help me with a return. Thankfully Amazon cares about customers service and it was returned promptly.
I would stay away from this company and their products. They must have been bought out by someone else.

Worst customer service

"The customer service (chat) agents are so rude. They have no clue how to talk with customers. Don't bother buying from ebags. I only bought it because they had a shaddy business of returning money (from a return they were not able to ship on time) via some form of credit / rewards. Then they took down their rewards system, which means there is a time clock ticking to use those rewards. The amount was significant for me to buy something from them. However, their online system does not allow you to use credits. I had to chat or call their support to use the credit. But first, I have to pay a full amount. Obviously, they didn't give me the credit back for the rewards in the time frame they mentioned. When contacted, they said it can take time and I can't track it. Without boring you with the full story, I'll just recommend you to not buy from them. Keep it simple. "

Absolutely beware. They will not give you your money back if you need a return. Look at their reviews across the internet

"Holy cow. I returned an item and couldn't find anything I wanted so I asked for my money back. No, they won't give my money back unless I buy something and, by the way, your credit expires. That's right. YOUR money expires after a period of time and they just keep it. This may be the most unethical garbage I've dealt with in a long time. Absolutely beware purchasing anything from these clowns.

terrible customer service Used to be a great company to order from

"Placed an order on 8/25/2020 for a luggage set, a 3 piece packing cube set and a toiletry bag. The next day I received an email the luggage was unavailable. I went onto the website to see what colors were available and the color I ordered was available. Thinking something is up I called ebags and spoke to a young man explained the email and told him the set appears to be available what is going on he puts me on hold and comes back and said it must be a mistake the luggage is available and will place the order again for me BUT THE PRICE IS 60.00 more the next day. I explained I wanted the price adjusted the price I paid the day before. He told me I would have to pay that days price and he would put in for a refund. Reluctantly I did so, so I could get the luggage shipped. Several days later I receive the luggage but no packing cubes or toiletry bag. I call ebags again they tell me they are unsure why I have not received the other 2 items they will send a message to the warehouse and put out a ticket on the missing items and someone will be in tough within 48 hours. More than 48 hours pass no response I call again they put in another ticket and send another message to the warehouse. I ask that they put a note on the ticket that if the color is not available I will take another color as substitution. No response to this call. I call again inquire about reordering the items I'm told not to do that until they hear from the warehouse. I finally receive a email the items are no longer available. I call to inquire about getting the packing cubes in another color at the same price I ordered them I am told "There policy is it would have to be the same item in the same color to price match it" A policy which by the way I can not find anywhere on the website. I send an email and get a response if I want to reorder the items they will price match it but when I call to do that they won't match the price. This has been nothing short of a nightmare and the worst part is they used to be a great company to deal with. I will now take my business elsewhere and so should everyone else if they don't value their customers."

Run away from these scam artists

"I've ordered from ebags for years. Never had a problem until recently, but now will NEVER place an order from ebags again. Long story short: I think ebags is about to go bankrupt and has resorted to scamming their customers to survive. Perhaps an unfortunate victim of Covid-19, but that doesn't mean they have a right to steal out of their customers wallets.

No legitimate e-retailer would tell you their certificate codes are not working for several days! They told me to place an order with my credit card and then call back to request a refund after they could check my return store credit balance with their "home office." What kind of sense does that make? They could just check right away and help me place the order on the phone - but they said they couldn't do that either.

The selection of goods continues to decrease, the price discounts continue to increase, they have removed their customer service telephone number form the ebags website, and they now say they return store credit and gift certificates are no longer working. Too many red flags. Run, don't walk away from this garbage scamming!

Bait and switch

"I have ordered a bagpack in ebags.com following an advertisement, which was clearly marked as "in stock". Several hours after the order, they cancelled my order, claiming that it is not in stock. In the same email, they included ads for similar backpacks which are, of course, much more expensive.
This is a clear bait and switch scam, and it shouldn't be allowed.

My Review Not allowed on their site. Faulty genuine leather!

"After trying unsuccessfully to post a review on their website, I contacted customer service. Back and forth emails, I proved the product was purchased with ebags (it was in my account!) Unable to post a review, they agreed to post it for me. When there was a hint of negativity to it, they declined, saying they could not post it because that color is not available. Yet initially they only required proof of purchase from the shop! This is bogus. Buyer beware. The "finish" is coming off of the "GENUINE LEATHER" handbag handles.

Quality of purse was not consisten with their displayed value

"I bought the MKF Collection by Mia K. Farrow
Maggie Denim Hobo (Blue) for $24.74, before tax and shipping
It is the worst bag I have ever owned; very poor and crooked stitching, fraying thread, and very thin fabric in the interior.
The reason I picked this bag, is because I liked how it looked, and saw that the comp value was shown as $199.00, expecting it to be of reasonably decent quality.
I emailed customer service about my disappointment, their response was:
"the Comp. Value prices refer to our good-faith estimate of the prevailing suggested retail price for the same item found at other retailers"
Over the many years that I have been buying purses/bags, I have never encountered another bag that was originally priced at $199.00 that was of such shoddy quality,
They advised me that I could return this, but this piece of junk is not worth my effort or time.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EV-ER!!!

"I ordered a backpack that I really needed ~2 weeks ahead of a trip. I updated the address they had on file (as evidenced by the successful billing of my credit card). The order was shipped to my old address. Upon contact, TWO separate Customer Service reps insisted that the new address was never entered for shipping or billing. I used my IT background to explain the system issue they must be having given that the address HAD to of been entered given the success billing my credit card. They insisted that I had entered the wrong address and that their system was incapable of making that error. (I'm a liar.) Further, with FOUR full business days remaining until my items were absolutely needed, they advised that they would NOT expedite an order to ensure customer needs were met. Finally, NO MANAGER AVAILABILITY. (The best they could do is say that they could have a manager call me back "soon" ... best ETA). - I will never use eBags again and strongly discourage anyone else who is considering this vendor."

Quality Product and Stellar Customer Service

"I purchased the TLS motherlode Weekender Junior for a 5 week backpacking trip through Europe. It wasn't until we got to the airport that a notice a small flaw with a compression strap. It was too late to do anything about it, so I managed. That was the only flaw and the bag held up amazingly! Such a quality product and it fit everything I needed for five weeks just in that bag! When I returned from the trip I contacted ebags customer service and they responded very quickly. They were extremely helpful and it was a breeze working with them to replace the bag. Now this is the only way to travel for me!"

Customer Dis-Service

"I was a customer for more than 15-years. Now, my status is former customer.

I ordered a purse for my wife. There was a sale plus an additional 30% off promotion. I proceeded to purchase the item ($149.00 before 30% discount). My order and payment were confirmed and I had no reason to believe that there was any problem(s).

The following evening, I unexpectedly received an email message stating that the item that I purchased (and for which I paid) is not available and will not be shipped.

The cancellation email message included a code for a one-time $10.00 credit as gesture of goodwill (?).

Begrudgingly, I went through the purchase process again with my wife. There was a sales promotion but it was 25% (not 30% as the original purchase). My wife selected a replacement.

While checking out, I learned that the 25% discount would not be valid for the replacement product. It did apply to another product purchased in the order. So, I did not get the 30% off or the 25% off of the replacement product.

Next, I tried to apply the $10 the "one-time use code for $10 off your next purchase". I entered the code and received a message stating that the code could not be used. I tried again and the system would not accept the $10 one-time use code off my next purchase.

I paid for the purchase because my wife needed the product and I promised to make the purchase. If it were solely my decision, the purchase would not be made.

I have 2 ebag products that require repair under the lifetime guarantee provision. Based on my recent experience and wasted time that I will never get back ....... I am not optimistic.

Bad business

"I purchased a bag from ebags which came smelling like it had been in a fire. The smell was so strong that it literally took my breath away when I opened the package. The smell did not dissipate in the least after two days of airing out. The bag was defective and they still charged me a return fee.
