"Stay away from this store (scammer).
I saw an ad with extremely attractive price of a storage ($114)bench and 1000TC Egyptian cotton sheets ($67). I went on to place an order on Aug 4th. Order confirmed and promised to arrive at my house by Aug. 19th.
Aug. 20th, I received neither any shipment nor any type of communication in regard to my order. I emailed customser service and they said one of the items I order was not in good quality and they could not ship a subpar product to a customer. Woah...how nice of them. So when will my order be fulfilled? I asked. They came back and said it was not because the subpar items, but my credit card company declined.
I was paying by PayPal with multiple payment methods in case one didn't work. I contacted PayPal. PayPal came back and confirmed SmartBargains had cancelled the transaction. I provided SmartBargains the email from PayPal. This time, the rep told me another bogus excuse. She told me an Authorization hold was put on the funds and drop after 3-5 days.
I had enough reasons not to do business with this scammer. From what I see, they put on bogus ads to attract customers. When you order something on their site, they will find ways to charge on your credit card with unexpected charges like other customers have complained on ResellerRatings. If they can't charge you those extra things, they cancel your orders. I am glad that I used PayPal. I think PayPal had prevented this scammer sucking money out off my credit cards."
"Horrible customer service, shady business practices, scammers, unauthorized credit card charges... That sums this company up!
I placed an order and reviewed my order summary just before I hit submit and it stated free shipping. Then I received my oder confirmation email and I had been charged $9.95 shipping! I emailed them and asked to refund the mystery charge, or cancel my order.
Their response was, we cannot give you free shipping because you also received a discount. Well, I found the deal on a website where HUNDREDS of people got a discount and free shipping, it was part of a promotion Smart Bargains was running! I told them this and received no response. I emailed them and told them to cancel my order.
The next morning I received a cheery email from Smart Bargains that said "Your order has shipped!" What a scam. I emailed them and told them I would not be accepting this package and disputing this unauthorized charge with my CC company.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND BEWARE OF UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES!!! CHECK YOUR EMAIL CONFIRMATIONS!!!"
"Shipping was horrible. I paid extra for express 3-6 day shipping and got an email that the item had shipped... one week later than it was supposed to. Emailed customer service, they said they'd refund, after 12 days and no package emailed again and they stated that the package was out for delivery. WHERE IS MY REFUND FOR THE SHIPPING??? Worst online shopping experience."
"I ordered a set of sheets from these guys that I found on Slickdeals. After all the iffy reviews, I was a little iffy about the order myself. But I charged it to a CC and figured worse comes to worse, I could simply do a charge back.
That said, I put in the order and got my sheets pretty quickly. The sheets feel great and matched the comforter I had perfectly! Item came as advertised and was brand new, and for the price, nothing locally could match them.
The only thing worth noting is the sheets were a sateen blend, which was not listed. However, to me that's not a big deal. It just gives them an overall better feel. But the local places wanted 2-3x as much as what they wanted, and all I had to do was wait a week.
I'd gladly order from them again."
"I placed an order with Smart Bargain on a Sat. Unfortunately, when I received my confirmation email I realized I entered a digit wrong on my zip code. So I contacted Smart Bargains the very next day Sunday. The rep could not do nothing to correct the information. In fact they could do not do anything, but send requests. Some customer service, what is the point of having a phone number to call if they cant do anything.
The rep could not guarantees the request would be received in time before shipping so my options giving were to pay a re-route fee $10 and have a possible delay in receiving product OR cancel the order and place a whole new one. Of course I went with placing a whole new order.
It makes no sense to me why a Smart Bargains Rep can not make any corrections in the order before it has been processed. Special when it was less then 24 hours the order was placed, Let alone the product was not even shipped yet. I find it hard to believe this type of situation is uncorrectable. Smart Bargains was quick to take my money, but had been slow to refund it. The Rep told me it could take up to 5 business days or more to be refunded. Buyer beware, re-read all your entered information before placing order. Once you click your final button it is set in stone."
"This was my first time using SmartBargains and everything went smoothly! We couldn't be happier with the leather storage ottomans we received. Amazing value, especially on shipping. It was only $10 for two huge boxes and they were sent right away. I did a lot of looking around and they had the best deal by far. The product was high quality leather, and the product did not require assembly and we love em!"
"My order got lost somewhere (that happens), tracking says delivered, I never got it (no signature). So I contacted smartbargains.com and they said it would take 7-10 business days to look into with UPS. 3 weeks pass and I don't hear from them, so I send them an email inquiring about my order and I never heard back! Luckily I was aware that I had to file a dispute with my credit card within 60 days and I got my money back that way. Beware!"

"I ordered 2 sets of "Spa Luxury Flannel Sheets" and a cotton blanket. After one washing the sheets changed color and pilled terribly. I had to keep one set because I had company coming and returned the other items. Because you have to pay shipping and the return of any items, I ended up paying $58 for a set of twin sheets that are worth less then $10!. I would not recommend this store to anyone. "
"Placed an order for a pair of jeans. I cancelled the order, but then immediately contacted them to not cancel the jeans. I was told that it definitely would be processed, no problem. At the same time, the jeans had gone down in price by quite a bit to 29.99. They said they could give me a store credit for the difference, which I said was fine. I was going to use the credit to order another pair as a gift. Unfortunately, the credit never came and the next day, the jeans went back up in price.
A day later the original order mysteriously got cancelled because the item became "unavailable." I called back and they said none of those jeans are available anymore, and that they couldn't substitute a very similar pair from the same brand nor could they locate the ones that I had originally ordered... but that if they came back into stock, I could get it at the 29.99 price.
A day later, the exact pair goes back into stock (big surprise). I call in to order them: but I get the runaround, and the best they could do was to give it to me at the price I originally ordered at. Talking to the supervisor didn't help either. And All of a sudden, no record of the price difference/credit could be found.. another big surprise.

"My complaint is the amount of time it takes to get an item. You aren't told until you get the confirmation email when to expect the item. They also ship alot of things by UPS or FedEx - only to have the tracking number show delivery to the local post office. Then the post office delivers the item the next day. If you want something from them, you have to plan way ahead if you want it on time. I believe Overstock is a much better option. "
"I ordered A trench coat from SmartBargains.com on a Saturday, that following Monday I found that the price had dropped $40.00. So I emailed them asking if I could get it at the new sale price. They said, "No." Instead they could give me a store gift card of forty dollars but they could not refund my credit card. On a separate occasion, I needed to return some drapes because they sent me the wrong size. After I received the drapes in the length I wanted, I noticed that they refunded me twice, an error in my favor. I emailed them to make sure they fixed it and that I was properly charged. Really disappointing that they couldn't return a good deed. "
"I am completely surprised by the negative reviews of SmartBargains.com here! I have ordered things from them for some time now, and I have always had excellent experiences!
I love their selection - it is not large, but they have great, brand-name items and is more upscale than some of its competitors. The prices sometimes are amazingly low, though sometimes you can find even better prices elsewhere, so you just have to do your homework.
The shipping is not the fastest, but then I usually get my orders within a week, so it's not bad.
Their customer service is amazing! They have a live person answering you quickly, and they are always so pleasant and polite too! The return policy is fair and I love how they update you with e-mails regarding your return status.
So, overall, I have had really great experiences with SmartBargains.com and I will continue to shop there!"
"Dealing with returns at this company is a total nightmare. Buyers beware and know up front that they do not adhere to their own refund policies and generally have no way to inform you of what is happening with your return status no matter how much time has passed. Also, don't bother emailing any concerns because you won't get anything but a canned response. After repeated emails and phone calls for weeks well after their stated refund credting time period and confirmation via FedEx tracking that the items were received, I finally got a refund for one of the two items that were returned together. I started the email and phone chain again to get proper credit for the second item that was identical and in the same box only to get the same ambiguous, non-committment that I might get a status in 3-5 business days. I knew that meant I would have to call back in 3-5 days after hearing nothing and check on it again only to be put back in the same loop of no information or result. I gave up at that point and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It was a simple online form and worth the time and effort and I should have done it sooner - I received the remainder of the refund owed in a matter of hours. I will never shop here again and I would advise others to avoid this site given that there are so many other options with wonderful service. "
"The sheets became like sandpaper after 4 washings. I was told by customer service that this was normal wear and tear. They refused to take back the sheets, give me store credit or in any way help me with this matter. The sheets are clearly defective. I washed them according to instructions. In my 65 years of washing and drying sheets, I have never had a set that developed "pills". Sheets don't wear out after four washings. This is not normal wear and tear.
I will make no further purchases from this store."
